With the vigorous development of higher vocational education,public elective courses,as one of the core components of the higher vocational curriculum system,occupy a pivotal position.Based on the perspective of academic affairs management and taking Guangdong C Vocational College as an example,this paper meticulously analyzes the operational problems in the declaration,setting,teaching,and management of public elective courses through questionnaire surveys and other methods.It also puts forward a series of targeted solutions,with a view to continuously improving the teaching quality and management level of public elective courses.

General election effect on the network topology of Pakistan’s stock market: network-based study of a political event

To examine the interdependency and evolution of Pakistan’s stock market,we consider the cross-correlation coefficients of daily stock returns belonging to the blue chip Karachi stock exchange(KSE-100)index.Using the minimum spanning tree network-based method,we extend the financial network literature by examining the topological properties of the network and generating six minimum spanning tree networks around three general elections in Pakistan.Our results reveal a star-like structure after the general elections of 2018 and before those in 2008,and a tree-like structure otherwise.We also highlight key nodes,the presence of different clusters,and compare the differences between the three elections.Additionally,the sectorial centrality measures reveal economic expansion in three industrial sectors—cement,oil and gas,and fertilizers.Moreover,a strong overall intermediary role of the fertilizer sector is observed.The results indicate a structural change in the stock market network due to general elections.Consequently,through this analysis,policy makers can focus on monitoring key nodes around general elections to estimate stock market stability,while local and international investors can form optimal diversification strategies.

Clinical Observation on 80 Cases of Anal Edema after Mixed Hemorrhoids Operation with Chinese Medicine Hot Election Package

The subjects of this study were 80 patients who underwent mixed hemorrhoids surgery in our hospital from January to October 2020 (mixed hemorrhoids external and internal ligation, internal hemorrhoids ligation or Xiaozhiling injection) and developed anal edge edema after surgery. According to the order of hospitalization, the patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, with 40 cases each. In the control group, blank hot pack was applied on the basis of anorectal No. 1 lotion for prevention and treatment of anal edge edema after operation;in the treatment group, hot pack of Traditional Chinese medicine was applied on the basis of anorectal No. 1 lotion for prevention and treatment of anal edge edema. The course of treatment was 7 days. The edema subsidence and postoperative pain scores were observed in both groups. Results: The scores of anal edema and pain in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05), and the significant efficiency and total effective rate in the treatment group were significantly better than those in the control group, with statistical difference (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Chinese medicine hot election package is effective in treating postoperative anal edema of mixed hemorrhoids, and the method is simple and suitable for clinical promotion.

Improving Sentiment Analysis in Election-Based Conversations on Twitter with ElecBERT Language Model

Sentiment analysis plays a vital role in understanding public opinions and sentiments toward various topics.In recent years,the rise of social media platforms(SMPs)has provided a rich source of data for analyzing public opinions,particularly in the context of election-related conversations.Nevertheless,sentiment analysis of electionrelated tweets presents unique challenges due to the complex language used,including figurative expressions,sarcasm,and the spread of misinformation.To address these challenges,this paper proposes Election-focused Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers(ElecBERT),a new model for sentiment analysis in the context of election-related tweets.Election-related tweets pose unique challenges for sentiment analysis due to their complex language,sarcasm,andmisinformation.ElecBERT is based on the Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers(BERT)language model and is fine-tuned on two datasets:Election-Related Sentiment-Annotated Tweets(ElecSent)-Multi-Languages,containing 5.31 million labeled tweets in multiple languages,and ElecSent-English,containing 4.75million labeled tweets in English.Themodel outperforms othermachine learning models such as Support Vector Machines(SVM),Na飗e Bayes(NB),and eXtreme Gradient Boosting(XGBoost),with an accuracy of 0.9905 and F1-score of 0.9816 on ElecSent-Multi-Languages,and an accuracy of 0.9930 and F1-score of 0.9899 on ElecSent-English.The performance of differentmodels was compared using the 2020 United States(US)Presidential Election as a case study.The ElecBERT-English and ElecBERT-Multi-Languages models outperformed BERTweet,with the ElecBERT-English model achieving aMean Absolute Error(MAE)of 6.13.This paper presents a valuable contribution to sentiment analysis in the context of election-related tweets,with potential applications in political analysis,social media management,and policymaking.

Design and Implementation of Distributed Self-Election Dynamic Array Honeypot System

Traditional honeypot is in fact a "passive proactive" defense mechanism because it may lose the value entirely once the adversary has detected the existence of the static trap and bypassed it.Our work focuses on a Self-Election dynamic honeypot framework which aims to bewilder attackers by coordinating and switching roles periodically to form a huge dynamic puzzle.In this paper,we discuss the UDP Spokesman synchronization scheme and the Self-Election coordination method,perform the framework simulation of the dynamic array honeypot with NS2,carry out the prototype implementation by Java,and then validate the effectiveness and feasibility on the simulation and prototype system.The promising results of applying this framework to mitigate the effects of attacks are shown and analyzed.Our work demonstrates that the Self-Election dynamic array honeypot system is feasible and effective for proactive network confrontation.

Factors influencing the surveillance of re-emerging intracranial infections in elective neurosurgical patients:A single-center retrospective study

BACKGROUND At present,many studies have reported the risk factors for postoperative intracranial reinfection,including age,sex,time to surgery,duration of postoperative catheterization,emergency procedures,type of disease and cerebrospinal fluid leakage,but the academic community has not reached a unified conclusion.AIM To find factors influencing the surveillance of re-emerging intracranial infections in elective neurosurgical patients.METHODS Ninety-four patients who underwent elective craniotomy from January 1,2015 to December 31,2022 in the Department of Neurosurgery,First Hospital of Jilin University,were included in this study.Of those,45 patients were enrolled in the infection group,and 49 were enrolled in the control group.The clinical data of the patients were collected and divided into three categories,including preoperative baseline conditions,intraoperative characteristics and postoperative infection prevention.The data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 software.RESULTS There were 23 males and 22 females in the infection group with a mean age of 52.8±15.1 years and 17 males and 32 females in the control group with a mean age of 48.9±15.2 years.The univariate analysis showed that the infection group had higher systolic blood pressures and postoperative temperatures,fewer patients who underwent a supratentorial craniotomy,more patients with a history of hypertension and higher initial postoperative white blood cell counts than the control group,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The multifactorial logistic regression analysis showed that a history of hypertension and a high postoperative body temperature were independent risk factors for postoperative infection in neurosurgical patients.CONCLUSION The results obtained in this study indicated that a history of hypertension and a high postoperative body temperature were independent risk factors for postoperative neurological symptoms.

This study will attempt to carry out a semiotic analysis of the images that proliferated during the 2012 electoral process in Mexico, from the pre-carnpaign period to June 19, 2012. The analysis carried out here is based on the categories proposed by Eliseo Ver6n pertaining to the study of political images--from analysis of the semiological image to media discoursivities--which fit within the framework of the digital public sphere and participative visual activism. The official candidate websites are taken as sample, along with two Facebook sites which summarize critical images as well as the independent informational sites created by the #YoSoy132 movement.

The Representation of Foreign Politics Through Media Prism： A Case Study of 2008 U.S. Presidential Election Campaign in Mainland Chinese Newspapers

As the most powerful nation in the world, the U.S. presidential election campaign drew a lot of attention from the media around the world. This study examines how party-orientation and market-orientation newspapers in China presented 2008 U.S. presidential election campaign to their audience, and how the news serve for the reproduction of domestic dominated ideology and safeguarding domestic political needs. It adopted content analysis and textual analysis as research methods. The results show that Party newspaper tends to serve domestic political ideology, while market-oriented newspapers showed mixed attitude toward political demand. Although market newspapers, out of the concern of political safety, employed some tactic to comply with the demand of dominated ideology to some extent, their cooperation was limited since their main purpose was commercial success and their presentation even destroy the aim of linkage politics for the reasons include acquiring market profit and/or pursuit of professional value. This study is a positive effort to make up the current research gap of studies on international news in Chinese media.

A Critical Review on the Determinants of a Free, Fair and Credible Election

There is no specific and standard definition of what free, fair and credible democratic elections mean under international law. The international law by implications only tries to lay down a guide and qualities of what a free and fair democratic election should and what it should not be. Both emerging and established democracies present frequent deviations from the ideals of a free, fair and credible election. Confidence in the electoral process has therefore become a key concern for political scientists and electoral administrators prompting this critical review. This article is mainly theoretical in perspective using the primary and secondary data in its context. Findings indicate allegations of administrative restrictions being selectively applied to losers coupled with election rigging by winners. This confirms that the quest for measuring and determining the credibility of an electoral outcome or ＂freeness and fairness＂ of an electoral process needs a collaborative approach. A model is used to explain the complexity of defining free and fair elections while emphasis is placed on aligning domestic law to international laws.

A Study on Economic Impact in the Context of American Election Based on AHP

To assess the economic impact of the different policies of the Trump and Biden candidates,we formulate metrics on five aspects:Covid-19 prevention and control measures,environmental protection policies,taxation,health care reform,foreign trade.Moreover,each metric is subdivided into several secondary metrics,making a three-tier hierarchical structure.Take environmental protection policy as an example:Without direct data under Biden’s policies,we collected data on U.S.CO2 emissions and U.S.oil consumption during Obama’s presidency as Biden’s legacy.First,use the analytic hierarchy process(AHP)to select indicators that can reflect the U.S.economy and determine the weight of each indicator.For the U.S.economy,Biden scored 2.6498,Trump 2.3502,suggesting that the election of Biden might make things better for the economy.For China’s economy,Biden scored 0.6810 and Trump 0.3245,meaning Biden could give the Chinese economy more room to grow.To reduce the influence of AHP subjectivity on the results,the Pearson correlation coefficient is introduced to establish the P-AHP model.Take the impact on China’s economy.Biden scored 0.5846 and Trump 0.4154.
