Performance of beam-type piezoelectric vibration energy harvester based on ZnO film fabrication and improved energy harvesting circuit

We demonstrate a piezoelectric vibration energy harvester with the ZnO piezoelectric film and an improved synchronous electric charge extraction energy harvesting circuit on the basis of the beam-type mechanical structure,especially investigate its output performance in vibration harvesting and ability to generate charges.By establishing the theoretical model for each of vibration and circuit,the numerical results of voltage and power output are obtained.By fabricating the prototype of this harvester,the quality of the sputtered film is explored.Theoretical and experimental analyses are conducted in open-circuit and closed-circuit conditions,where the open-circuit mode refers to the voltage output in relation to the ZnO film and external excitation,and the power output of the closed-circuit mode is relevant to resistance.Experimental findings show good agreement with the theoretical ones,in the output tendency.It is observed that the properties of ZnO film achieve regularly direct proportion to output performance under different excitations.Furthermore,a maximum experimental power output of 4.5 mW in a resistance range of 3 kΩ-8 kΩis achieved by using an improved synchronous electric charge extraction circuit.The result is not only more than three times the power output of classic circuit,but also can broaden the resistance to a large range of 5 kΩunder an identical maximum value of power output.In this study we demonstrate the fundamental mechanism of piezoelectric materials under multiple conditions and take an example to show the methods of fabricating and testing the ZnO film.Furthermore,it may contribute to a novel energy harvesting circuit with high output performance. 展开更多

In this paper, the mathematical dynamical model of a PEMFC (proton exchange membrane fuel cells) stack, integrated with an automotive synchronous electrical power drive, developed in Matlab environment, is shown. Lots of simulations have been executed in many load conditions. In this paper, the load conditions regarding an electrical vehicle for disabled people is reported. The innovation in this field concerns the integration, in the PEMFC stack mathematical dynamic model, of a synchronous electrical power drive for automotive purposes. Goal of the simulator design has been to create an useful tool which is able to evaluate the behaviour of the whole system so as to optimize the components choose. As regards the simulations with a synchronous electrical power drive, the complete mathematical model allows to evaluate the PEMFC stack performances and electrochemical efficiency. 展开更多

A brushless electrically excited synchronous generator (BEESG) with a hybrid rotor is a novel electrically excited synchronous generator. The BEESG proposed in this paper is composed of a conventional stator with two different sets of windings with different pole numbers, and a hybrid rotor with powerful coupling capacity. The pole number of the rotor is different from those of the stator windings. Thus, an analysis method different from that applied to conventional generators should be applied to the BEESG. In view of this problem, the equivalent circuit and electromagnetic torque expression of the BEESG are derived on the basis of electromagnetic relation of the proposed generator. The generator is simulated and tested experimentally using the established equivalent circuit model. The experimental and simulation data are then analyzed and compared. Results show the validity of the equivalent circuit model. 展开更多

The electrically excited synchronous motor(ESM)has typically small synchronous inductance values and quite low transient values because of the damper windings mounted on the rotor.Therefore,the torque and stator flux linkage ripples are high in the direct torque control(DTC)drive of the ESM with a torque and flux linkage hysteresis controller(basic DTC).A DTC scheme with space vector modulation(SVM)for the ESM was investigated in this paper.It is based on the compensation of the stator flux link-age vector error using the space vector modulation in order to decrease the torque and flux linkage ripples and produce fixed switching frequency under the principle that the torque is controlled by the torque angle in the ESM.Compared with the basic DTC,the results of the simulation and experiment show that the torque and flux linkage ripples are reduced,the maximum current value is decreased during the startup,and the current distortion is much smaller in the steady-state under the SVM-DTC.The field-weakening control is incorporated with the SVM-DTC successfully. 展开更多
