The Regularity of Solutions to Mixed Boundary Value Problems of Second-Order Elliptic Equations with Small Angles

This paper considers the regularity of solutions to mixed boundary value problems in small-angle regions for elliptic equations. By constructing a specific barrier function, we proved that under the assumption of sufficient regularity of boundary conditions and coefficients, as long as the angle is sufficiently small, the regularity of the solution to the mixed boundary value problem of the second-order elliptic equation can reach any order.

The Jacobi elliptic function-like exact solutions to two kinds of KdV equations with variable coefficients and KdV equation with forcible term

By use of an auxiliary equation and through a function transformation, the Jacobi elliptic function wave-like solutions, the degenerated soliton-like solutions and the triangle function wave solutions to two kinds of Korteweg de Vries （KdV） equations with variable coefficients and a KdV equation with a forcible term are constructed with the help of symbolic computation system Mathematica, where the new solutions are also constructed.

SOLUTIONS FOR A NONHOMOGENEOUS ELLIPTIC PROBLEM INVOLVING CRITICAL SOBOLEV-HARDY EXPONENT IN R^N

For the following elliptic problem {-△u-μu/｜x｜^2=｜u｜^2^＊（s）-2u/｜x｜^s＋h（x）, on R^N u∈D^1,2（R^N）, N≥3, 0≤μ〈μ^-=（N-2）^2/4, 0≤s〈2, where 2^＊（s）=2（N-s）/N-2 is the critical Sobolev-Hardy exponent, h（x） ∈ （D^1,2（R^N））^＊, the dual space of （D^1,2（R^N））, with h（x）≥（≠）0. By Ekeland＇s variational principle, subsuper solutions and a Mountain Pass theorem, the authors prove that the above problem has at least two distinct solutions if ｜｜h｜｜＊〈CN,sAs^N-s/4-2s（1-μ/μ）^1/2, CN,s=4-2s/N-2（N-2/N＋2-2s）^N＋2-2s/4-2s and As = inf u∈D^1,2（R^N）／{0}∫R^N（｜△↓u｜^2-μu^2/｜x｜^2）dx/（∫R^N｜u｜^2^＊（s）/｜x｜^sdx）^2/2^＊（s）.

EXISTENCE AND UNIQUENESS OF POSITIVE SOLUTIONS TO A CLASS OF SEMILINEAR ELLIPTIC SYSTEMS

In this paper an existence and uniqueness theorem of positive solutions to a class of semilinear elliptic systems is proved. Also, a necessary condition for the existence of the positive solution is obtained. As the application of the main theorem, two examples are given.

THE EXISTENCE OF NONTRIVIAL SOLUTIONS TO A SEMILINEAR ELLIPTIC SYSTEM ON R N WITHOUT THE AMBROSETTI-RABINOWITZ CONDITION

In this paper, we prove the existence of at least one positive solution pair （u, v）∈ H1（RN） × H1（RN） to the following semilinear elliptic system {-△u＋u=f（x,v）,x∈RN,-△u＋u=g（x,v）,x∈RN （0.1）,by using a linking theorem and the concentration-compactness principle. The main conditions we imposed on the nonnegative functions f, g ∈C0（RN× R1） are that, f（x, t） and g（x, t） are superlinear at t = 0 as well as at t =＋∞, that f and g are subcritical in t and satisfy a kind of monotonic conditions. We mention that we do not assume that f or g satisfies the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition as usual. Our main result can be viewed as an extension to a recent result of Miyagaki and Souto [J. Diff. Equ. 245（2008）, 3628-3638] concerning the existence of a positive solution to the semilinear elliptic boundary value problem {-△u＋u=f（x,u）,x∈Ω,u∈H0^1（Ω） where Ω ∩→RN is bounded and a result of Li and Yang [G. Li and J. Yang： Communications in P.D.E. Vol. 29（2004） Nos.5＆ 6.pp.925-954, 2004] concerning （0.1） when f and g are asymptotically linear.

Construction of doubly-periodic solutions to nonlinear partial differential equations using improved Jacobi elliptic function expansion method and symbolic computation

Some doubly-periodic solutions of the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation are presented. Our approach is to introduce an auxiliary ordinary differential equation and use its Jacobi elliptic function solutions to construct doubly-periodic solutions of the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation, which has been derived by Gottwald as a two-dimensional model for nonlinear Rossby waves. When the modulus k →1, these solutions reduce to the solitary wave solutions of the equation.

EXISTENCE OF MULTIPLE SOLUTIONS FOR SINGULAR QUASILINEAR ELLIPTIC SYSTEM WITH CRITICAL SOBOLEV-HARDY EXPONENTS AND CONCAVE-CONVEX TERMS

The main purpose of this paper is to establish the existence of multiple solutions for singular elliptic system involving the critical Sobolev-Hardy exponents and concave-convex nonlinearities. It is shown, by means of variational methods, that under certain conditions, the system has at least two positive solutions.

New Jacobian Elliptic Function Solutions to Modified KdV Equation: Ⅰ

An extended Jacobian elliptic function expansion method presented recently by us is applied to the mKdVequation such that thirteen families of Jacobian elliptic function solutions including both new solutions and Fu's allresults are obtained. When the modulus m → 1 or 0, we can find the corresponding six solitary wave solutions and sixtrigonometric function solutions. This shows that our method is more powerful to construct more exact Jacobian ellipticfunction solutions and can be applied to other nonlinear differential equations.

NON-EXISTENCE OF POSITIVE ENTIRE SOLUTIONS FOR ELLIPTIC INEQUALITIES OF P-LAPLACIAN

In this paper, the nonexistence of positive entire solutions for div(|Du| p-2 Du)q(x)f(u),x∈R N, is established, where p】1,Du=(D 1u,...,D Nu),q∶R N→(0,∞) and f∶(0,∞)→(0,∞) are continuous functions.

SOLUTIONS TO ELLIPTIC SYSTEMS INVOLVING DOUBLY CRITICAL NONLINEARITIES AND HARDY-TYPE POTENTIALS

In this article, an elliptic system is investigated, which involves Hardy-type potentials, critical Sobolev-type nonlinearities, and critical Hardy-Sobolev-type nonlinearities. By a variational global-compactness argument, the Palais-Smale sequences of related approximation problems is analyzed and the existence of infinitely many solutions to the system is established.

SINGULAR SOLUTIONS OF ANISOTROPIC PLATE WITH AN ELLIPTICAL HOLE OR A CRACK

In the present paper, closed form singular solutions for an infinite anisotropic plate with an elliptic hole or crack are derived based on the Stroh-type formalism for the general anisotropic plate. With the solutions, the hoop stresses and hoop moments around the elliptic hole as well as the stress intensity factors at the crack tip under concentrated in-plane stresses and bending moments are obtained. The singular solutions can be used for approximate analysis of an anisotropic plate weakened by a hole or a crack under concentrated forces and moments. They can also be used as fundamental solutions of boundary integral equations in BEM analysis for anisotropic plates with holes or cracks under general force and boundary conditions.

Jacobi Elliptic Function Solutions for (2 + 1) Dimensional Boussinesq and Kadomtsev-Petviashvili Equation

(2 + 1) dimensional Boussinesq and Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation are investigated by employing Jacobi elliptic function expansion method in this paper. As a result, some new forms traveling wave solutions of the equation are reported. Numerical simulation results are shown. These new solutions may be important for the explanation of some practical physical problems. The results of this paper show that Jacobi elliptic function method can be a useful tool in obtaining evolution solutions of nonlinear system.

MULTIPLICITY OF SOLUTIONS AND SOURCE TERMS IN A FOURTH ORDER NONLINEAR ELLIPTIC EQUATION

They investigate therelatiolls when the source term is constant and when it is generated by two eigenfuntions.

SINGULAR POSITIVE RADIAL SOLUTIONS FOR A GENERAL SEMILINEAR ELLIPTIC EQUATION

The existence and uniqueness of singular solutions decaying like r^-m（see （1.4）） of the equation △u＋k∑i=1ci｜x｜liupi=0,x∈R^N are obtained, wheren≥3, ci 〉0, li〉-2, i=1,2,..,k, pi〉 1, i=l,2,-..,kandthe separation structure of singular solutions decaying like r^-（n-2） of eq. （0.1） are discussed. moreover, we obtain the explicit critical exponent ps （l） （see （1.9））.

NUMERICAL SOLUTIONS OF DISCONTINUOUS BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEMS FOR GENERAL ELLIPTIC COMPLEX EQUATIONS OF FIRST ORDER

In this paper, authors discuss the numerical methods of general discontinuous boundary value problems for elliptic complex equations of first order, They first give the well posedness of general discontinuous boundary value problems, reduce the discontinuous boundary value problems to a variation problem, and then find the numerical solutions of above problem by the finite element method. Finally authors give some error-estimates of the foregoing numerical solutions.

INFINITELY MANY SOLUTIONS FOR AN ELLIPTIC PROBLEM INVOLVING CRITICAL NONLINEARITY

EXISTENCE OF POSITIVE RADIAL SOLUTIONS FOR SOME SEMILINEAR ELLIPTIC EQUATIONS IN ANNULUS

Applying Krasnosel'skii fixed point theorem of cone expansion-compression type, the existence of positive radial solutions for some second-order nonlinear elliptic equations in annular domains, subject to Dirichlet boundary conditions, is investigated. By considering the properties of nonlinear term on boundary closed intervals, several existence results of positive radial solutions are established. The main results are independent of superlinear growth and sublinear growth of nonlinear term. If nonlinear term has extreme values and satisfies suitable conditions, the main results are very effective.

Analytical solutions of transient pulsed eddy current problem due to elliptical electromagnetic concentrative coils

The electromagnetic concentrative coils are indispensable in the functional magnetic stimulation and have potential applications in nondestructive testing. In this paper, we propose a figure-8-shaped coil being composed of two arbitrary oblique elliptical coils, which can change the electromagnetic concentrative region and the magnitude of eddy current density by changing the elliptical shape and/or spread angle between two elliptical coils. Pulsed current is usually the excitation source in the functional magnetic stimulation, so in this paper we derive the analytical solutions of transient pulsed eddy current field in the time domain due to the elliptical concentrative coil placed in an arbitrary position over a half-infinite plane conductor by making use of the scale-transformation, the Laplace transform and the Fourier transform are used in our derivation. Calculation results of field distributions produced by the figure-8-shaped elliptical coil show some behaviours as follows： 1） the eddy currents are focused on the conductor under the geometric symmetric centre of figure-8-shaped coil; 2） the greater the scale factor of ellipse is, the higher the eddy current density is and the wider the concentrative area of eddy current along y axis is; 3） the maximum magnitude of eddy current density increases with the increase of spread angle. When spread angle is 180°, there are two additional reverse concentrative areas on both sides of x axis.

New Jacobian Elliptic Function Solutions of Modified KdV Equation: Ⅱ

Recently, we obtained thirteen families of Jacobian elliptic function solutions of mKdV equation by usingour extended Jacobian elliptic function expansion method. In this note, the mKdV equation is investigated and anotherthree families of new doubly periodic solutions (Jacobian elliptic function solutions) are fbund again by using a newtransformation, which and our extended Jacobian elliptic function expansion method form a new method still called theextended Jacobian elliptic function expansion method. The new method can be more powertul to be applied to othernonlinear differential equations.

A NONTRIVIAL SOLUTION OF A QUASILINEAR ELLIPTIC EQUATION VIA DUAL APPROACH

In this article, we are concerned with the existence of solutions of a quasilinear elliptic equation in R^N which includes the so-called modified nonlinear Schrodinger equation as a special case. Combining the dual approach and the nonsmooth critical point theory, we obtain the existence of a nontrivial solution.
