In this paper, we prove the existence of at least one positive solution pair (u, v)∈ H1(RN) × H1(RN) to the following semilinear elliptic system {-△u+u=f(x,v),x∈RN,-△u+u=g(x,v),x∈RN (0.1),by using a linking theorem and the concentration-compactness principle. The main conditions we imposed on the nonnegative functions f, g ∈C0(RN× R1) are that, f(x, t) and g(x, t) are superlinear at t = 0 as well as at t =+∞, that f and g are subcritical in t and satisfy a kind of monotonic conditions. We mention that we do not assume that f or g satisfies the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition as usual. Our main result can be viewed as an extension to a recent result of Miyagaki and Souto [J. Diff. Equ. 245(2008), 3628-3638] concerning the existence of a positive solution to the semilinear elliptic boundary value problem {-△u+u=f(x,u),x∈Ω,u∈H0^1(Ω) where Ω ∩→RN is bounded and a result of Li and Yang [G. Li and J. Yang: Communications in P.D.E. Vol. 29(2004) Nos.5& 6.pp.925-954, 2004] concerning (0.1) when f and g are asymptotically linear. 展开更多

With the solutions, the hoop stresses and hoop moments around the elliptic hole as well as the stress intensity factors at the crack tip under concentrated in-plane stresses and bending moments are obtained. The singular solutions can be used for approximate analysis of an anisotropic plate weakened by a hole or a crack under concentrated forces and moments. They can also be used as fundamental solutions of boundary integral equations in BEM analysis for anisotropic plates with holes or cracks under general force and boundary conditions. 展开更多

The electromagnetic concentrative coils are indispensable in the functional magnetic stimulation and have potential applications in nondestructive testing. In this paper, we propose a figure-8-shaped coil being composed of two arbitrary oblique elliptical coils, which can change the electromagnetic concentrative region and the magnitude of eddy current density by changing the elliptical shape and/or spread angle between two elliptical coils. Pulsed current is usually the excitation source in the functional magnetic stimulation, so in this paper we derive the analytical solutions of transient pulsed eddy current field in the time domain due to the elliptical concentrative coil placed in an arbitrary position over a half-infinite plane conductor by making use of the scale-transformation, the Laplace transform and the Fourier transform are used in our derivation. Calculation results of field distributions produced by the figure-8-shaped elliptical coil show some behaviours as follows: 1) the eddy currents are focused on the conductor under the geometric symmetric centre of figure-8-shaped coil; 2) the greater the scale factor of ellipse is, the higher the eddy current density is and the wider the concentrative area of eddy current along y axis is; 3) the maximum magnitude of eddy current density increases with the increase of spread angle. When spread angle is 180°, there are two additional reverse concentrative areas on both sides of x axis. 展开更多
