Process Adaption of a Small WWTP Operated at Low Loading Conditions for Substantial Energy Savings

The very long tradition of the activated sludge treatment model within the water industry has demonstrated very versatile possibilities to adopt the operation mode for different enhancements. By looking into other treatment models within the activated sludge family it is possible to find alternatives for the operation. This paper concentrates on the possibilities to improve even small WWTP with respect to energy savings. The small plant in Northern Sweden, called Rosvik WWTP, is given as an example. Some important findings related to the intermittent aeration mode may be summarized as follows: 1) An energy savings for the operation of the small WWTP with respect to aeration needs that resulted in a decrease of the energy power supply by more than 35%, as compared with the previous operation based on continuous aeration;2) The up to date effluent levels with respect to the main pollutants have remained at very good levels in 2020, P-level averages 0.16 mg P/l versus consent level <</span><span> </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">0.5 mg P/l;COD-level 40 versus <</span><span> </span><span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">70 mg/l and BOD</span><sub><span style="font-family:Verdana;">7</span></sub><span style="font-family:Verdana;"> 9 versus <</span></span><span> </span><span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">15 mg/l;3) Sometimes, also improved sludge settling characteristics have been observed, thus providing improved discharge figures;4) The potential to develop an enhanced biological phosphorus removal. In semiconductor and electronics factories, large multi-chiller systems are needed to satisfy strict cooling load requirements. In order to save energy, it is worthwhile to design the chilled water system operation. In this paper, an optimal flexible operation scheme is developed based on a two-dimensional time-series model to forecast the cooling load of multi-chiller systems with chiller units of different cooling capacities running in parallel. The optimal integrity scheme can be obtained using the Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming method, which minimizes the energy consumption of the system within a future time period. In order to better adapt the change of cooling load, the operation strategy of regulating the chilled water flowrates is employed. The chilled water flowrates are set as a design variable. When the chillers are running, their chilled water flowrates can vary within limits, whereas the flowrates are zero when the chillers are unloaded. This forecasting method provides integral optimization within a future time period and offers the operating reference for operators. The power and advantages of the proposed method are presented using an industrial case to help readers delve into this matter. 展开更多

Purpose–To address the problem that the current train operation mode that train selects one of several offline pre-generated control schemes before the departure and operates following the scheme after the departure,energy-saving performance of the whole metro system cannot be guaranteed.Design/methodology/approach–A cooperative train control framework is formulated to regulate a novel train operation mode.The classic train four-phase control strategy is improved for generating specific energy-efficient control schemes for each train.An improved brute force(BF)algorithm with a two-layer searching idea is designed to solve the optimisation model of energy-efficient train control schemes.Findings–Case studies on the actual metro line in Guangzhou,China verify the effectiveness of the proposed train control methods compared with four-phase control strategy under different kinds of train operation scenarios and calculation parameters.The verification on the computation efficiency as well as accuracy of the proposed algorithm indicates that it meets the requirement of online optimisation.Originality/value–Most existing studies optimised energy-efficient train timetable or train control strategies through an offline process,which has a defect in coping with the disturbance or delays effectively and promptly during real-time train operation.This paper studies an online optimisation of cooperative train control based on the rolling optimisation idea,where energy-efficient train operation can be realised once train running time is determined,thus mitigating the impact of unpredictable operation situations on the energy-saving performance of trains. 展开更多

The research background is based on great consumption of urban rail transit energy, through summarizing the research of scholars at home and abroad, the comprehensive research including train operation pattern, the train traction characteristics and optimization design of integrated research has carried out in this paper, by using OPENTRACK software simulation to verify the optimization results according to different line features finally. The aim of this paper is to explore ways and methods of traction strategy optimization under the condition of trains timing energy saving. The main research contents of this paper are based on the research status at home and abroad, first of all, the different operating modes of the train running on the line are analysed, including the time saving mode, the energy saving mode and timing energy saving mode, and quantitative analysed the influence of different operation modes on vehicle energy consumption. The influence factors and traction calculation method of energy consumption of train running are studied. Firstly, the factors that affect the energy consumption of the train are analysed, including the basic facilities and transport organization mode. On the basis of this, the train load and running status of the train are analysed, and the model of the train movement and energy consumption are calculated. The OPENTRACK software is used to establish the actual circuit model, and the simulation is verified. The results show that the reasonable operation mode of the train operation mode can greatly reduce the energy consumption. 展开更多

WSNs consist of large number of nodes, with wireless communications and computation abilities that can be used in variety of domains. It has been used in areas that have direct contact with monitoring and gathering data, to name few, health monitoring, military surveillance, geological monitoring (Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Tsunami), agriculture control and many more. However, the design and implementation of WSNs face many challenges, due to the power limitation of sensor nodes, deployment and localization, data routing and data aggregation, data security, limited bandwidth, storage capacity and network management. It is known that Operation Research (OR) has been widely used in different areas to solve optimization problems;such as improving network performance and maximizing lifetime of system. In this survey, we present the most recent OR based techniques applied to solve different WSNs problems: the node scheduling problem, energy management problems, nodes allocating issues and other WSNs related complex problems. With rapid development of the railway traffic, the moving block signaling system (MBS) method has become more and more important for increasing the track capacity by allowing trains to run in a shorter time-headway while maintaining the required safety margins. In this framework, the tracking target point of the following train is moving forward with its leading train. This paper focuses on the energy saving tracking control of two successive trains in MBS. Nonlinear programming method is used to optimize the energy-saving speed trajectory of the following train. The real-time location of the leading train could be integrated into the optimization process. Due to simplicity, it can be used for online implementation. The feasibility and effectiveness are verified through simulation. The results show that the new method is efficient on energy saving even when disturbances present. 展开更多

为了提高上汽-西门子超超临界1 000MW汽轮机的运行性能,进行了汽轮机高、中、低压缸通流效率变化特性试验,并以试验结果分析为基础,针对性地开展了机组运行优化研究.通过汽轮机进汽端不同滑压方式的试验比较,确定了机组滑压优化控制曲线... 为了提高上汽-西门子超超临界1 000MW汽轮机的运行性能,进行了汽轮机高、中、低压缸通流效率变化特性试验,并以试验结果分析为基础,针对性地开展了机组运行优化研究.通过汽轮机进汽端不同滑压方式的试验比较,确定了机组滑压优化控制曲线,降低了汽轮机高压调门的节流损失;通过开发基于SIS平台的冷端优化管理系统,指导运行人员按照收益与成本比较排序结果来确定循环水泵等冷端设备的优化运行方式,实现了冷端运行效益的最大化;针对汽轮机第六级抽汽的2根管道存在温度偏差的问题,在管道外壁加装了隔热套,将管内蒸汽温度提高10K以上,消除了管内积水隐患.在试点1 000MW汽轮机上的实际应用结果表明:这些优化改进措施的实施不同程度地提高了机组运行的安全性与经济性. 展开更多

针对中央空调系统机理建模困难和参数辨识工作较为复杂的问题,提出了一种基于自适应建模和自学习机制的中央空调系统节能优化运行方法;设计了空调系统马尔可夫决策过程模型,采用具有双神经网络结构的强化学习算法解决学习过程中容易产... 针对中央空调系统机理建模困难和参数辨识工作较为复杂的问题,提出了一种基于自适应建模和自学习机制的中央空调系统节能优化运行方法;设计了空调系统马尔可夫决策过程模型,采用具有双神经网络结构的强化学习算法解决学习过程中容易产生的维数灾难和值函数过估计问题.然后以广州市某办公建筑中央空调系统为研究对象,建立该系统的TRNSYS仿真平台,对算法的有效性进行了验证.仿真结果表明:该方法在满足室内热舒适性要求的前提下,以系统能耗最小为目标,实现了系统的节能优化运行;与PID控制和单神经网络强化学习控制方法相比,系统总能耗分别降低5.36%和1.64%,非舒适性时间总占比分别减少2.32%和1.37%.文中提出的强化学习控制器能够有效解决值函数过估计问题,具有良好的鲁棒性,自适应优化能力和较好的节能效果,可为建筑节能提供新思路. 展开更多

针对中央空调冷源系统运行能耗高、设备之间高度耦合机理建模困难、参数众多难以随环境变化动态调节的问题,引入智能化算法进行建模优化.以某经过初步节能改造且冷水主机并联运行的地铁站空调冷源系统实测运行数据为基础,结合冷源系统... 针对中央空调冷源系统运行能耗高、设备之间高度耦合机理建模困难、参数众多难以随环境变化动态调节的问题,引入智能化算法进行建模优化.以某经过初步节能改造且冷水主机并联运行的地铁站空调冷源系统实测运行数据为基础,结合冷源系统运行原理建立能耗预测残差神经网络(ResNet)模型.采用灰狼优化算法(GWO)对某典型夏季制冷日运行工况进行寻优计算.仿真结果表明,冷源系统ResNet模型在测试集上的平均相对误差、平均绝对误差值分别为1.5485%、2.2394,预测精度高于BP神经网络模型和支持向量回归机模型;优化结果显示,GWO优化后的能耗值相比遗传算法(GA)、粒子群优化(PSO)更低,较实际运行平均节能10.45%,其中冷水主机能耗降低8.14%,而各主机冷冻水供水温度相等时冷机节能率仅为5.37%.因此,基于ResNet-GWO的仿真优化策略可用于实现中央空调冷源系统的高能效运行. 展开更多

以太阳能-空气源热泵耦合的热水系统为研究对象,构建了空气源热泵和太阳能集热器的耦合热力模型,对某高校学生宿舍热水系统运行特性进行分析;针对热水系统负荷的时变特性,运用机器学习中的KNN(K-Nearest Neighbor)监督学习算法,以环境... 以太阳能-空气源热泵耦合的热水系统为研究对象,构建了空气源热泵和太阳能集热器的耦合热力模型,对某高校学生宿舍热水系统运行特性进行分析;针对热水系统负荷的时变特性,运用机器学习中的KNN(K-Nearest Neighbor)监督学习算法,以环境逐时温湿度、上一时段用水量和星期数为特征量,实现热水负荷的逐时预测,并能将逐时预测误差控制在30%之内,日预测误差控制在6.59%。以负荷逐时预测为基础,提出了一种新的控制策略,在系统运行过程中,能够根据环境参数和当前负荷监测数据计算预期内的系统参数,从而实时动态调整热泵启停控制策略和补水策略,有效地提升了系统的节能潜力。结果表明:新控制策略下的系统能耗相比原策略控制下减少7.55%~20.36%,晚供水时段的水温波动可以减少0.9℃以上,改善了用户的用水体验,同时节省了工程运营方的投入费用。 展开更多

针对齐鲁MTBE/1-丁烯装置能耗过高的问题,从流程改造、操作优化两方面探讨了装置节能优化工作方面采取的措施。通过一系列的改造优化,MTBE/1-丁烯装置每年蒸汽用量减少约18 kt,电耗降低4.38×106k W·h,节能效果显著。
