In order to get the calibration of the higher part of the high pressure ionization chamber, we use the Fluka Monte Carlo program to perform the energy response in both the spherical and the cylindrical high pressure ionization chamber which are full of argon gas. The results compared with prior study when the gamma-ray energy is less than 1.25 MeV. Our result of Monte Carlo calculation shows agreement with those obtained by measurement within the uncertainty of the respective methods. The calculation of this study is significant for the high pressure ionization chamber to measure the high energy gamma-ray.展开更多

The characteristics of neutron signal and its discrimination from other signals, and a plateau of high voltage between the anode and cathode have been validated in a thermal neutron source. The energy responses of the two fission chambers at seven energy levels have been calibrated in an accelerator fast neutron source and the results agree well with the simulations.展开更多

The GTM was equipped with five Gamma-ray Transient Probe(GTP) detector modules utilizing a NaI(Tl) scintillator coupled with a SiPM array. To reduce the SiPM noise, GTP uses a dedicated dual-channel coincident readout design. In this work, we first studied the impact of different coincidence times on the detection efficiency and ultimately selected a 0.5 μs time coincidence window for offline data processing. To test the performance of the GTPs and validate the Monte-Carlo-simulated energy response, we conducted comprehensive ground calibration tests using the Hard X-ray Calibration Facility(HXCF) and radioactive sources, including the energy response, detection efficiency, spatial response, bias-voltage response, and temperature dependence. We extensively present the ground calibration results and validate the design and mass model of the GTP detector, thus providing the foundation for in-flight observations and scientific data analysis.展开更多

The results show that the radiation field of the high energy proton accelerator is dominated by neutron radiation, with a broad range of neutron energies, spanning about eleven orders of magnitude.Simulation and calculation of the response functions of four Bonner spheres with a simplified model is done with FLUKA and MCNPX codes respectively, proving the feasibility of the FLUKA program for this application and the correctness of the calculation method. Using the actual model, we simulate and calculate the energy response functions of Bonner sphere detectors with polyethylene layers of different diameters, including detectors with lead layers, using the FLUKA code. Based on the simulation results, we select eleven detectors as the basic structure for an Extended Range Neutron Multisphere Spectrometer(ERNMS).展开更多

The energy response of ZnO:In to mono-energetic protons in the range of 10 keV–8 MeV was measured. The experiment was carried out in current mode, and Au foil scattering was employed, where the forward scattering protons were used for exciting the sample, and the backward scattering protons were used for monitoring the beam intensity. According to the result, the yield of light non-linearly depends on proton energy, and drops significantly when proton energy is low. The scintillation efficiency as a function of proton energy was obtained, which is very useful for researching the scintillation recoil proton neutron detection system.展开更多

The proposed detector employs UV optical fibers as the light guide, and the sensitive region of the detector is composed of a linear array of OSFs, which are individually connected to the optical fibers. The other end of the light guide is coupled to a photomultiplier tube. The key properties of the device including the energy response, time response, neutron sensitivity, and radiation effect of the optical fiber were studied. The detector has a relatively high n/γ sensitivity ratio, which increases as the diameter of the OSF decreases, and ratios greater than 10 could be achieved when the diameter of the OSF is less than 0.3 nun. The sensitivity of the detector to neutrons ranges from 10-14 to 10-20 C cm2/n, and has a response time of 3 ns (FWHM). The proposed detector is also highly flexible. For instance, the probe can be set close to the source, while the PMT can be placed far away from radiation, allowing easy shielding. Due to these characteristics, pulsed fission neutrons in the vicinity of the source can be accurately measured.展开更多
