In order to de-noise and filter the acoustic emission(AE) signal, the adaptive filtering technology is applied to AE signal processing in view of the special attenuation characteristics of burst AE signal. According to the contradiction between the convergence speed and steady-state error of the traditional least mean square(LMS) adaptive filter, an improved LMS adaptive filtering algorithm with variable iteration step is proposed on the basis of the existing algorithms. Based on the Sigmoid function, an expression with three parameters is constructed by function translation and symmetric transformation. As for the error mutation, e(k) and e(k-1) are combined to control the change of the iteration step. The selection and adjustment process of each parameter is described in detail, and the MSE is used to evaluate the performance. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm significantly increases the convergence speed, reduces the steady-state error, and improves the performance of the adaptive filter. The improved algorithm is applied to the AE signal processing, and the experimental signal is demodulated by an empirical mode decomposition(EMD) envelope to obtain the upper and lower envelopes. Then, the expected function related to the AE signal is established. Finally, the improved algorithm is substituted into the adaptive filter to filter the AE signal. A good result is achieved, which proves the feasibility of adaptive filtering technology in AE signal processing. 展开更多

Condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of gearboxes play an important role in the maintenance of mechanical systems. The vibration signal of gearboxes is characterized by complex spectral structure and strong time variability, which brings challenges to fault feature extraction. To address this issue,a new demodulation technique, based on the Fourier decomposition method and resonance demodulation,is proposed to extract fault-related information.First, the Fourier decomposition method decomposes the vibration signal into Fourier intrinsic band functions(FIBFs)adaptively in the frequency domain. Then, the original signal is segmented into short-time vectors to construct double-row matrices and the maximum singular value ratio method is employed to estimate the resonance frequency. Then, the resonance frequency is used as a criterion to guide the selection of the most relevant FIBF for demodulation analysis. Finally, for the optimal FIBF,envelope demodulation is conducted to identify the fault characteristic frequency. The main contributions are that the proposed method describes how to obtain the resonance frequency effectively and how to select the optimal FIBF after decomposition in order to extract the fault characteristic frequency. Both numerical and experimental studies are conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed method. It is demonstrated that the proposed method can effectively demodulate the fault information from the original signal. 展开更多

Aiming at the mode mixture in local wave decomposition(LWD) caused by a noise signal, the original data is preprocessed using the lifting wavelet transformation to suppress abnormal interference of noise and improve the quality of decomposition. It is employed to analyze the vibration signal of rotor rub-impact for extracting the weak impulsive feature. The signal is decomposed into intrinsic mode functions by LWD, then the high-frequency components are analyzed by Hilbert envelop demodulation. The period of the impulse response can be achieved, and the modulate fault feature of the vibration signal of a rotor system with rub-impact fault can be extracted exactly. Analysis results show that the proposed method is accurate and efficient, and is expected to be applied in engineering practice effectively. 展开更多
