The results showed that soil bulk density, herbaceous cover, slope, and canopy density were the significant factors controlling runoff, and the direct path coefficient of each factor was ranked as canopy closure(-0. 628) > litter thickness(-0. 547) > bulk density( 0. 509) > altitude( 0. 289). The indirect path coefficient was ranked as soil bulk density( 0. 354) >litter thickness(-0. 169) > altitude( 0. 126) > canopy closure(-0. 104). Therefore, canopy closure and litter thickness mainly had direct effects on runoff, while soil bulk density mainly had indirect effects through their contributions to other factors. Herbaceous cover, litter thickness, slope, canopy density, and altitude were the significant factors controlling sediment yields. The direct path coefficient of each factor was ranked as herbaceous cover(-0. 815) > litter thickness(-0. 777) > canopy closure(-0. 624) > slope( 0. 620). The indirect path coefficient was ranked as slope( 0. 272) > litter thickness(-0. 131) > canopy closure(-0. 097) > herbaceous cover(-0. 084). Therefore, herbaceous cover and litter thickness mainly had direct effects on sediment yields, while slope mainly had indirect effects through their contributions to other factors. All the selected environmental factors jointly explained 85. 5% and 78. 3% of runoff and sediment yield variability, respectively. However, there were large values of remaining path coefficients of other factors influencing runoff and sediment yields, which indicated that some important factors are not included and should be taken into account.展开更多

Environmental risk factors (ERF) have been widely studied, however, there are discrepancies in the results about their influence on malaria transmission. Recently, papers have been published about geospatial analysis of ERF of malaria to explain why malaria varies from place to place. Our primary objective was to identify the environmental variables most used in the geospatial analysis of malaria transmission. The secondary objective was to identify the geo-analytic methods and techniques, as well as geo-analytic statistics commonly related to ERF and malaria. We conducted a systematized review of articles published from January 2004 to March 2015, within Web of Science, Pubmed and LILACS databases. Initially 676 articles were found, after inclusion and exclusion criteria, 29 manuscripts were selected. Temperature, land use and land cover, surface moisture and vector breeding site were the most frequent included variables. As for geo-analytic methods, geostatistical models with Bayesian framework were the most applied. Kriging interpolations, Geographical Weighted Regression as well as Kulldorff’s spatial scan were the techniques more widely used. The main objective of many of these studies was to use these methods and techniques to create malaria risk maps. Spatial analysis performed with satellite images and georeferenced data are increasing in relevance due to the use of remote sensing and Geographic Information System. The combination of these new technologies identifies ERF more accurately, and the use of Bayesian geostatistical models allows a wide diffusion of malaria risk maps. It is known that temperature, humidity vegetation and vector breeding site play a critical role in malaria transmission;however, other environmental risk factors have also been identified. Risk maps have a tremendous potential to enhance the effectiveness of malaria-control programs.展开更多

The result showed that the assemblages of phytoplankton in Chukchi Sea can be divided into three ecological groups: Arctic-boreal group, distributed mostly in northeastern ice-edge where the depth is more than 2 000 m and affected directly by Arctic Ocean; Boreal group, distributed in shelf-break ice in the center water where the depth is less 100 m; Eurythermal group, mainly distributed in the south which exchanged with North Pacific water through Bering Strait. The species diversity, cell density and distribution variability of phytoplankton among stations were great different. The range of phytoplankton density among stations was 1.6 × 10^3- 90 680.2 × 10^4 cells/m^3, and the ranges of diversity index and evenness index among stations were 0.07 - 0.87 and 0.33 - 3.82, respectively. Principal components analysis (PCA) showed that temperature and salinity had made important roles in the distribution of phytoplankton in the Chukchi Sea. Furthermore, the different influences of the variant water regimes, and the extremely dynamic physical nature of the drifting pack ice (e.g. packing, breaking up and melting ) introduce short-term variability into the water conditions that no doubt affect the phytoplankton distrubition.展开更多

Sand dune stabilization, a critically important process, leads changes in abiotic factors, such as soil structure and nutrient contents. However, the effects of factors on an A. ordosica community following sand stabilization remain unclear. In this study, we used canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) to examine the relationships between A. ordosica communities and environmental factors at three habitats: semi-fixed dune (SF), fixed dune with low-cov- erage biological soil crust (F), and fixed dune with high- coverage biological soil crust (FC) in Mu Us desert. The mean height and coverage of plants increased with sand stabilization, while species diversity and richness increased initially and then reduced significantly. Correlation analysis and CCA revealed that slope, soil organic carbon, and nutrient contents, proportion of fine soil particles, soil moisture, and thickness of biological soil crust were all highly correlated with vegetation characteristics. These environmental factors could explain 40.42 % of the vege- tation-environment relationships at the three habitats. The distribution of plant species was positively related to soil moisture in the SF dune. Soil moisture, soil nutrient, and fine-particle contents mainly affected plants distribution in the F dune. In the FC dune, distribution of plant species was positively and negatively correlated with the thickness of biological soil crust and soil moisture at a depth 0-20 cm, respectively. The dominance value of typical steppe species increased significantly following sand-dune stabilization and relations between species and samples in CCA ordination bi-plots showed that perennial grasses could invade the A. ordosica community on FC, indicating A. ordosica communities had a tendency to change into typical steppe vegetation with the further fixation. We conclude that the significant differentiation not only occurred in community characteristics, but also in the relationships between vegetation and environmental factors among the three stages of dune fixation. So, restoration of degraded dune ecosystems should be based on habitat conditions and ecological needs.展开更多

The relationship between phytoplankton community structure and environmental factors including hydrological, meteorological, physical, and chemical variables were explored using multivariate analysis. A total of 81 taxa of phytoplankton were identified, which were mainly composed of chlorophyta, bacillariophyta, and cyanobacteria. The phytoplankton community was dominated by Pseudanabaena limnetica during summer and fall and by Cyclotella meneghiniana during winter and spring. The abundance of phytoplankton ranged from 0.24~ 104 cells/L to 33.45x 106 cells/L, with the minimum occurring during February 2010 and the maximum during July 2009. The phytoplankton community was dominated mainly by cyanobacteria from April to September, and by bacillariophyta and pyrrophyta from October to March. Canonical correspondence analysis showed that temperature, pH values, and orthophosphate were the most important driving factors regulating the composition and dynamics of the phytoplankton community in the estuary. Cyanobacteria and euglenophyta abundance and biomass were affected mainly by temperature and pH values, while most chlorophyta and bacillariophyta were influenced by the concentrations of nutrients.展开更多

METHODSA hospital-based, case-control study was carried out with CD patients (n = 145) and controls (n = 163) representing a socioeconomically diverse statewide catchment area in Brazil. Controls were recruited from caregivers of patients seen in different outpatient clinics at the same hospital. A multi-item survey with 94 questions regarding family history of CD, perinatal and childhood circumstances, living conditions, tobacco use and familial socioeconomic status was carried out by interviewers. RESULTSOn the univariate analysis, predictive variables for CD included being male, under age of 40, a high education level, urban dweller, smaller family size, exposure to enteric pathogens and user of treated water (P < 0.005). On the multivariate analysis, variables significantly associated with CD were male gender (OR = 2.09), under age 40 (OR = 3.10), white (OR = 2.32), from a small family in childhood (OR = 2.34) and adulthood (OR = 3.02), absence of viral infections in childhood (OR = 2.23), exposure to enteric pathogens (OR = 2.41), having had an appendectomy (OR = 2.47) and prior or current smoker (OR = 2.83/1.12). CONCLUSIONMost variables supporting the “hygiene hypothesis” are associated with the development of CD but are not independent predictors of the diagnosis.展开更多

A total of 25 taxa of zooplankton were identified, amongwhich copepods being the most abundant groups (93.6% and 74.9% of totalabundance in spring and summer, respectively). Copepoda species assemblage wasthe same in spring and summer: Paracalanus parvus and Acartia bifilosa being thepredominant species, occupied more than 15% of total copepoda abundance.Zooplankton abundance was higher in spring than in summer, with an average of11 657 ind/m3 and 1549 ind/m3, respectively. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA)showed that there was a significant difference of total zooplankton abundance betweenspring and summer (p<0.001). Redundancy analysis (RDA) revealed that salinity andnutrient were the main environmental factors influencing zooplankton group’sdistribution in spring and summer, respectively.展开更多

During the survey, a total of 109 phytoplankton species from 3 groups were identified in the southern waters of Miaodao Archipelago, of which 77 were diatoms, 29 were dinoflagellates, and 3 were chrysophytes. Species number was higher in winter(73), moderate in autumn(70), but lower in summer(31) and spring(27). The species richness index in autumn(5.92) and winter(4.28) was higher than that in summer(2.83) and spring(1.41).The Shannon-Wiener diversity index was high in autumn(2.82), followed by winter(1.99) and summer(1.92), and low in spring(0.07). The species evenness index in autumn(0.46) and summer(0.39) was higher than that in winter(0.32) and spring(0.02). On the basis of principal component analysis(PCA) and redundancy analysis(RDA), we found that dissolved inorganic nitrogen(DIN) and chemical oxygen demand(COD) in spring, COD in summer, p H in autumn, and salinity and oil pollutant in winter, respectively, showed the strongest association with the distribution of phytoplankton diversity. The spatial heterogeneity of the southern waters of Miaodao Archipelago was quite obvious, and three zones, i.e., northeastern, southwestern and inter-island water area, were identified by cluster analysis(CA) based on key environmental variables.展开更多

文摘Malaria is still the major parasitic disease in the world, with approximately 438,000 deaths in 2015. Risk maps have a tremendous potential to enhance the effectiveness of malaria-control programs.

文摘Based on the samples collected from the Chukchi Sea during the FCNARE cruise from July to August in 1999 with the "Xuelong", the research vessel of SOA, China, the relationship between the distribution characterization of phytoplankton and environmental factors was analyzed with Primer 5.2 software. Furthermore, the different influences of the variant water regimes, and the extremely dynamic physical nature of the drifting pack ice (e.g. packing, breaking up and melting ) introduce short-term variability into the water conditions that no doubt affect the phytoplankton distrubition.
文摘To better understand the community structure characteristics of zooplankton in the artificial reef area of Tianjin in the Bohai Bay and its relationship with major environmental factors, the project conducted three cruise surveys in the spring(May),summer(July)and autumn(October)of 2016 and monitored conventional environmental factors. The results showed that there were 36 species of zooplankton, including 14 species of copepods, phytoplankton larvae 12 species;6 kinds of coelenterates;3 species of shrimp and 1 species of hairy shrimp in the artificial reef area of Tianjin in the three cruise surveys. The dominant species in spring, summer, and autumn have obvious changes, among which the dominant species in spring are Eurytemora pacifica,Clytia hemisphoerica,Clalnus sinicus, and Macruran larva;in summer are Oithona similis and Brachyura zoea larva;and autumn only the Clalnus sinicus.Correlation analysis shows that the diversity and uniformity of zooplankton in the artificial reef area have increased to varying degrees, indicating that the overall construction of artificial reefs in the Tianjin sea area has improved the marine ecological protection to some extent. The results of CCA showed that salinity and water temperature were the main environmental factors affecting the distribution of zooplankton communities in artificial reefs in Tianjin.

文摘Artemisia ordosica is an excellent sand-fixing shrub for sand stabilization in northwestern China. So, restoration of degraded dune ecosystems should be based on habitat conditions and ecological needs.

文摘Phytoplankton and environmental variables were measured monthly from July 2009 to August 2011 in the Maixi River from the estuary to Baihua Reservoir in the Maotiao River catchment, southwestern China, to understand phytoplankton community structure and environmental factors. Cyanobacteria and euglenophyta abundance and biomass were affected mainly by temperature and pH values, while most chlorophyta and bacillariophyta were influenced by the concentrations of nutrients.
文摘To identify environmental risk factors associated with the development of Crohn’s disease (CD) in order to re-assess the hygiene hypothesis. CONCLUSIONMost variables supporting the “hygiene hypothesis” are associated with the development of CD but are not independent predictors of the diagnosis.

文摘Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD)are idiopathic chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract well known to be associated with both genetic and environmental risk factors.Permissive genotypes may manifest into clinical phenotypes under certain environmental influences and these may be best studied from migratory studies.Exploring differences between first and second generation migrants may further highlight the contribution of environmental factors towards the development of IBD.There are few opportunities that have been offered so far.We aim to review the available migration studies on IBD,evaluate the known environmental factors associated with IBD,and explore modern migration patterns to identify new opportunities and candidate migrant groups in IBD migration research.
文摘The seasonal and spatial variations of zooplankton community and theircorrelation with environmental factors were studied at nineteen sites in the coastalwater near Luan River Estuary. Redundancy analysis (RDA) revealed that salinity andnutrient were the main environmental factors influencing zooplankton group’sdistribution in spring and summer, respectively.

文摘To study the water quality influenced by the anthropogenic activities and its impact on the phytoplankton diversity in the surface waters of Miaodao Archipelago, the spatiotemporal variations in phytoplankton communities and the environmental properties of the surface waters surrounding the Five Southern Islands of Miaodao Archipelago were investigated, based on seasonal field survey conducted from November 2012 to August 2013. The spatial heterogeneity of the southern waters of Miaodao Archipelago was quite obvious, and three zones, i.e., northeastern, southwestern and inter-island water area, were identified by cluster analysis(CA) based on key environmental variables.

文摘Most current studies focus on statistics of the incidence, etiology, and rehabilitative treatment of cerebral palsy. However, very few studies focus on the environmental risk factors for this syndrome In the present study, a total of 202 children with cerebral palsy in the Jiamusi district of China were selected as the case group, and 404 children were randomly selected for the control group. The survey focused on environmental factors during pregnancy, which included indoor pollution as the most dangerous factor (odds ratio = 2.432, 95% confidence interval = 1.172-5.047; P = 0.017), followed by use of high-radiation mobile phones, more than 5 hours of watching television per day, and cooking with a marble kitchen platform during pregnancy. Results demonstrated that environmental risk factors play a role in the development of cerebral palsy in children.

文摘Based on the observed data in monitored drainage areas and GIS spatial analysis tools, watershed basic database of Shitoukoumen Reservoir Basin was built. The multivariate analysis and redundancy analysis(RDA) were used to analyze the spatial and temporal variations of water quality, identify the key environmental factors and their patterns influencing the spatial variation of water quality, and determine the main types and forms of the non-point source(NPS) pollutant export controlled by the key environmental factors. The results show that different patterns of environmental factors lead to great changes in water quality at spatial and seasonal scales. All selected environmental factors explain 64.5% and 68.2% of the spatial variation of water quality over dry season and rainy season, respectively, which shows clear seasonal difference.Over dry season, residential land is the most important environmental factor, which possesses 35.4% of the spatial variation, and drainage area is the second key environmental factor, which possesses 17.0% of spatial variation in the total variance.Over rainy season, slope length and drainage area are the key environmental factors, which possess 29.3% of the spatial variation together.Residential land influences nitrogen export by changing NH4+-N and particulate organic nitrogen(PON) discharge over dry season, and drainage area controls phosphorus export by regulating dissolved phosphorus(DP) drainage over dry season and phosphorus associated particulate(PAP) loss over rainy season, respectively.Although slope length is an important environmental factor,it does not influence NPS pollutant export. It is interesting that soil organic matter,as a minor environmental factor, highly determines phosphorus and nitrogen export by enhancing the DP,PAP and PON loss.
