Corresponding to distributions of these currents, the study area could be divided into four different parts. Total organic carbon, total nitrogen, and organic carbon and nitrogen stable isotopes in sediments show linear correlations with mean grain size, respectively, thus "grain size effect" is an important factor that influences their distributions. C/N ratios can reflect source information of organic matter to a certain degree. In contrast, nitrogen stable isotope shows different spatial distribution patterns with C/N and organic carbon stable isotope, according to their relationships and regional distributions. The highest contribution (up to 50%) of terrestrial organic carbon appears near the Changjiang Estuary with isolines projecting towards northeast, indicating the influence of the Changjiang dilution water. Terrestrial particulate organic matter suffers from effects of diagenesis, benthos and incessant inputting of dead organic matter of plankton, after depositing in seabed. Therefore, the contribution of terrestrial organic carbon to particulate organic matter is obviously greater than that to organic matter in sediments in the same place.展开更多

In addition, the diffusion fluxes of nitrogen and phosphorus across the sediment-water interface in tidal flats are estimated according to the nutrient concentration gradients at the interface. It has been indicated that the concentrations of ammonium, nitrite, nitrate and dissolved phosphorus in overlying waters range from 0.0082-2.56, 0.03-0.58, 0.69-5.38 and 0.035-0.53 mg/L, respectively, while 0.0025 - 1.35 mg /L for NH^-N, 0. 0055 ~0.20mg/L for NO2-N, 0.61-1.14 mg/L for NO3-N and 0.11~0.53mg/L for DP insurface pore waters. The findings have revealed that ammonium, nitrite, nitrate and dissolved phosphorus diffusionfluxes across the sediment-water interface are between -0.024~0.99, -0.39~ -0.0019, -3.09--0.12 and -0.48- 0.12 ug/ (cm.d ) respectively, showing that the sediment in tidal flats is the source of phosphorus and an important sink for nitrogen in the waters.展开更多

The results show that the main radioactivity substances are natural radioactivity U,Th series and 40K. which were produced by the modern industry and transported into the sea through the main current of the Zhujiang River.展开更多

So the wave data measured at these regions must have been affected by current. Since the combination of current with wave climate is a random process, i. e. spring tide may be met with small waves, or neap tide with strong waves, so the measured wave data related to the wind data have great divergence under the influence of current. In this paper, based on the research of wave refraction by influence of both current and water depth (Pan and Li, 1987), the influence of tide current and river discharge on the wave parameters in Luojing area of Yangtze River Etuary and Beilum harbour area are discussed. As a conclusion, for determining the design wave in still water, or for establishing the relationship between waves and winds, pure wave data should be separated from the measured wave data.展开更多

The Yangtze River estuary water area is always in high incidence area of red tide. In this paper, according to the events of red tide and meteorologic and hydrologic data in Yangtze River estuary water area from 2000 to 2010, by using mathematical statistics methods, we analyze the relevance between the occurrence of the red tide and the synoptic situation field, and probe into the regular patterns.展开更多
