The impact of cold rolling deformation, which was introduced after solid solution and before aging treatment,on microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of the as-extruded spray formed Al−9.8Zn−2.3Mg−1.73Cu−0.13Cr(wt.%)alloy,was investigated.SEM,TEM,and EBSD were used to analyze the microstructures, and tensile tests were conducted to assess mechanical properties. The results indicate that the D1-T6 sample, subjected to 25%cold rolling deformation, exhibits finer grains(3.35μm)compared to the D0-T6 sample(grain size of 4.23μm)without cold rolling.Cold rolling refines the grains that grow in solution treatment.Due to the combined effects of finer and more dispersed precipitates, higher dislocation density and smaller grains, the yield strength and ultimate tensile strength of the D1-T6 sample can reach 663 and 737 MPa,respectively. In comparison to the as-extruded and D0-T6 samples, the yield strength of the D1-T6 sample increases by 415 and 92 MPa,respectively. 展开更多

Hot flow forming(HFF)is a promising forming technology to manufacture thin-walled cylindrical part with longitudinal inner ribs(CPLIRs)made of magnesium(Mg)alloys, which has wide applications in the aerospace field. However, due to the thermo-mechanical coupling effect and the existence of stiffened structure, complex microstructure evolution and uneven microstructure occur easily at the cylindrical wall(CW)and inner rib(IR)of Mg alloy thin-walled CPLIRs during the HFF.In this paper,a modified cellular automaton(CA)model of Mg alloy considering the effects of deformation conditions on material parameters was developed using the artificial neural network(ANN)method. It is found that the ANN-modified CA model exhibits better predictability for the microstructure of hot deformation than the conventional CA model.Furthermore, the microstructure evolution of ZK61 alloy CPLIRs during the HFF was analyzed by coupling the modified CA model and finite element analysis(FEA).The results show that compared with the microstructure at the same layer of the IR,more refined grains and less sufficient DRX resulted from larger strain and strain rate occur at that of the CW;various differences of strain and strain rate in the wall-thickness exist between the CW and IR,which leads to the inhomogeneity of microstructure rising firstly and declining from the inside layer to outside layer;the obtained Hall-Petch relationship between the measured microhardness and predicted grain sizes at the CW and the IR indicates the reliability of the coupled FEA-CA simulation results. 展开更多

Several argillaceous platforms lie along the Yellow River(YR) of the eastern Guide Basin, northeastern Tibetan Plateau, and their compositions, formation processes, and geomorphic evolution remain debated. Using field survey data, sample testing, and high-resolution remote sensing images, the evolution of the Erlian mudflow fans are analyzed. The data show significant differences between fans on either side of the YR. On the right bank, fans are dilute debris flows consisting of sand and gravel. On the left bank, fans are viscosity mudflows consisting of red clay. The composition and formation processes of the left bank platforms indicate a rainfall-induced pluvial landscape. Fan evolution can be divided into two stages: early-stage fans pre-date 16 ka B.P., and formed during the last deglaciation; late-stage fans post-date 8 ka B.P.. Both stages were induced by climate change. The data indicate that during the Last Glacial Maximum, the northeastern Tibetan Plateau experienced a cold and humid climate characterized by high rainfall. From 16–8 ka, the YR cut through the Erlian early mudflow fan, resulting in extensive erosion. Since 8 ka, the river channel has migrated south by at least 1.25 km, and late stage mudflow fan formation has occurred. 展开更多

A high alloyed Vanadis4 (V4) steel was produced by spray forming process in Baosteel, and the microstructure of the as-sprayed steel and its evolution during hot rolling and annealing processes were characterized. It was found that the as-sprayed V4 steel has a homogeneous and fine scale rrficrostructure with uniform dispersion of carbides. The hot rolling temperature is the key factor in controlling the evolution of type, morphology and distribution of carbides, as well as the matrix microstructure of the as-rolled steels. The optimized processing parameters for the as-sprayed V4 steel are rolling at 1050℃ and then annealing at 900℃. The microstructural evolution mechanisms during hot rolling and annealing are determined according to the microstructural analyasis of the material at different stages. 展开更多

Ore deposits (occurrences) of Au, As, Sb, Hg, etc. distributed in Southwest Guizhou constitute the important portion of the low-temperature metallogenic domain covering a large area in Southwest China, with the Carlin-type Au and Sb deposits being the most typical ones. In this paper the Au and Sb ore deposits are taken as the objects of study. Through the petrographic analysis, microthermomitric measurement and Raman spectrophic analysis of fluid inclusions in gangue minerals and research on the S and C isotopic compositions in the gold ore deposits we can reveal the sources of ore-forming materials and ore-forming fluids and the rules of ore fluid evolution. Ore deposits of Au, Sb, etc. are regionally classified as the products of ore fluid evolution, and their ore-forming materials and ore fluids were probably derived mainly from the deep interior of the Earth. Fluid inclusion studies have shown that the temperatures of Au mineralization are within the range of 170-361℃,the salinities are 0.35 wt%-8 wt% NaCl eq.; the temperatures of Sb mineralization are 129.4-214℃ and the salinities are 0.18 wt%- 3.23 wt% NaCl eq.; the ore-forming fluid temperatures and salinities tend to decrease progressively. In the early stage (Au metallogenic stage) the ore-forming fluids contained large amounts of volatile components such as CO2, CH4, N2 and H2S, belonging to the H2O-CO2-NaCl fluid system; in the late stage (Sb metallogenic stage) the ore-forming fluids belong to the Sb-bearing H2O-NaCl system. The primitive ore-forming fluids may have experienced at least two processes of immiscibility: (1) when early ore-bearing hydrothermal solutions passed through rock strata of larger porosity or fault broken zones, CO2, CH4, N2 would escape from them, followed by the release of pressure, resulting in pressure release and boiling of primitive homogenous fluids, thereafter giving rise to their phase separation, thus leading to Au unloading and mineralization; and (2) in the late stage (Sb metallogenic stage ) a large volume of meteoric water was involved in the ore-forming fluids, leading to fluid boiling as a result of their encounter, followed by the drop of fluid temperature. As a result, the dissolubility of Sb decreased so greatly that Sb was enriched and precipitated as ores. Due to differences in physic-chemical conditions between Au and Sb precipitates, Au and Sb were respectively precipitated in different structural positions, thus creating such a phenomenon of Au/Sb paragenesis and differentiation in space. 展开更多

Mineralization occurs in three different host rocks: skarn, hornfels and porphyry. A detailed fluid inclusion study was conducted for veins in the different host rocks to investigate the relationship between fluid evolution and ore-forming processes. Based on examination of cores from 36 drill holes, three types of veins (A, B and D) were identified in the porphyries, four types (I, II, III and IV) in the skarn, and three (a, b and c) in the hornfels. The crosscutting relationships of the veins and that of the host rocks suggest two hydrothermal stages, one early and one late stage. Fluid inclusions indicate that the Jiama hydrothermal fluid system underwent at least two episodes of fluid boiling. The first boiling event occurred during the early hydrothermal stage, as recorded by fluid inclusions hosted in type A veins in the porphyries, type a veins in the hornfels, and wollastonite in the skarns. This fluid boiling event was associated with relatively weak mineralization. The second boiling event occurred in the late hydrothermal stage, as determined from fluid inclusions hosted in type B and D veins in the porphyries, type I to IV veins in the skarns, and type b and c veins in the hornfels. This late boiling event, together with mixing with meteoric water, was responsible for more than 90% of the metal accumulation in the deposit. The first boiling only occurred in the central part of the deposit and the second boiling event took place across an entire interlayered structural zone between hornfels and marble. A spatial zoning of ore-elements is evident, and appears to be related to different migration pathways and precipitation temperatures of Cu, Mo, Pb, Zn, Au and Ag. 展开更多

This study performs single point incremental forming(SPIF)on two aluminum alloys(i.e.AA5754 and AA6061),and analyzes their post forming mechanical properties and microstructure evolution. The forming parameters namely wall angle(35°-55°),feed rate(1-4 m/min),spindle rotational speed(50-1000 r/min),and lubricant(grease and hydraulic oil)are varied to probe detailed processing effects. The pre-and post-SPIF mechanical properties and microstructures are characterized by conducting tensile tests and optical microscopy, respectively. It is shown that an increase in the wall angle, feed rate and rotational speed causes microscopic variations in the alloys such that the grains of AA5754 and the second phase particles of AA6061 elongate. As a result, the ultimate tensile strength of the formed parts is increased by 10%for AA5754 and by 8%for AA6061.And,the ductility of AA5754 is decreased from 22.9%to 12%and that of AA6061 is decreased from 16%to 10.7%.Regarding the lubricant effect,it is shown that the mechanical properties remain insensitive to the type of lubricant employed. These results indicate that SPIF processing modifies the microstructure of Al alloys in a way to enhance the strength at the cost of ductility. 展开更多

Hot forming with synchronous cooling(HFSC)is a novel technique for heat-treatable,high-strength aluminum alloys, which allows the alloys to acquire good formability, negligible springback, rapid processing and better mechanical properties. However, the deformation behavior and microstructure evolution of the alloys during HFSC are complex and need to be studied due to the temperature and strain rate effects.Uniaxial tensile tests in a temperature range of 250—450℃and a strain rate range of 0.01—1 s-1 for AA2024-H18 aluminum alloy sheet are conducted with a Gleeble-3500 Thermal-Mechanical Simulation Tester. And based on metallography observation and analysis,AA2024-H18 aluminum alloy sheet in HSFC process exhibits hardening and dynamic recovery behaviors within the temperature range of 250—450 ℃.Strain rate shows different effects on ductility at different temperatures.Compared with traditional warm/hot forming methods,AA2024-H18 aluminum alloy achieves a better work-hardening result through HFSC operations, which promises an improved formability at elevated temperature and thus good mechanical properties of final part. After HSFC operations, the microstructure of the specimens is composed of elongated static recrystallization grain. 展开更多

The microstructural evolution and phase transformations of mechanically stirred non-dendritic ZA27 alloy during partial remelting were studied by using scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction technique. The partial remelting temperature was 460℃ and lower than the stirring temperature of 465℃.So the microstructure with globular grains needed for semi-solid forming can not be obtained and the starting primary non-dendritic grains change in turn to connect non-dendritic grains, long chain-like structures and finally to coarsen connect grains. However, the small near-equiaxed grains between the primary non-dendritic grains are evolved into small globular grains gradually, some of which are also attached to the primary non-dendritic grains during the subsequent heating. The X-ray diffraction results show that a series of phase transformations, α+η+ε→β,η+β→L,β→α′+L,α+η+ε→α′ and α′→L, occur successively during this process. The main reason why the starting primary non-dendritic grains do not separate into the needed independent globular grains is that the reactions of η+β→L and α′→L do not occur or occurr incompletely in the layers used to connect the primary non-dendritic grains. 展开更多

The microstructure evolution in hot forming will affect the mechanical properties of the formed product. However, the microstructure is sensitive to the process variables in deformation process of metals and alloys. A microstructure evolution model of a titanium alloy in hot forming, which included dislocation density rate and primary α phase grain size, was presented according to the deformation mechanism and driving forces, in which the effect of the dislocation density rate on the grain growth was studied firstly. Applying the model to the high temperature deformation process of a TC6 alloy with deformation temperature of 11331223K, strain rate of 0.0150s^-1 and height reduction of 30%, 40% and 50%, the material constants in the present model were calculated by the genetic algorithm(GA) based objective optimization techniques.
