Cloud-to-end rendering and storage management for virtual reality in experimental education

Background Real-time 3D rendering and interaction is important for virtual reality(VR)experimental education.Unfortunately,standard end-computing methods prohibitively escalate computational costs.Thus,reducing or distributing these requirements needs urgent attention,especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.Methods In this study,we design a cloud-to-end rendering and storage system for VR experimental education comprising two models:background and interactive.The cloud server renders items in the background and sends the results to an end terminal in a video stream.Interactive models are then lightweight-rendered and blended at the end terminal.An improved 3D warping and hole-filling algorithm is also proposed to improve image quality when the user's viewpoint changes.Results We build three scenes to test image quality and network latency.The results show that our system can render 3D experimental education scenes with higher image quality and lower latency than any other cloud rendering systems.Conclusions Our study is the first to use cloud and lightweight rendering for VR experimental education.The results demonstrate that our system provides good rendering experience without exceeding computation costs.

Architectural Educational Experience in Kansei

Since the earliest Kansei works saw the light more than 30 years ago, the Kansei has boomed exponentially. Because of many and various achieved business successes by different working groups as well as the methodology geographical dispersion throughout the world. Multi-faceted Kansei has been developed for the last 20 years in a very wide and varied way. The Kansei has experienced as if talking of a tree, a branching experience still going on nowadays. Today we can speak from Kansei in theory, Kansei emotion measurement, Kansei engineering, Kansei information, Kansei education, Kansei design to Kansei in practice and many other disciplines. Three years ago, our team started the experience to introduce Kansei in the educational atmosphere, applying it to the final degree projects. In the School of Building Engineering at the Universitat Polit^cnica de Valencia and inside its final degree project proposal, a workshop on Kansei engineering was offered. During these years at the eighth semester of the building engineer degree, students have been working for almost five months under the supervision of a team of teachers on their final project till the final public oral defense was made in front of a committee. During these years, we have worked with an average of 10 students per year. Some have successfully completed their final projects, others have not achieved the minimum required. The article aims to explain the experience during the last three years the team has accumulated in Kansei education, and can be of interest for every teacher or lecturer.

Maison du Bresil： A Student Residence for the Brazilian Elite in Paris

This paper presents some thoughts about the Maison du Bresil. The objective is to research this temporary residency for researchers through the meanings that characterize it as a Brazilian territory in Paris and through the very belonging to the category elite as a peculiarity of its residents. The author wish to analyze the international circulation of students and researchers that live there and have an educational experience of multiple dimensions as experiences of deterritorialization of identities and its consequences in a housing space which is at the same time in public and private. Based on documental analysis and ethnographic fieldwork, the paper presents some aspects of the history and the everyday life of the Maison du Bresil and Paris＇ Cite Internationale Universitaire. Also, it intends to show how the meanings of Brazilianness are used as support for the identity crisis lived by the members of a supposed Brazilian elite in Paris, as it analyzes the particularities of the mediations established by the residents of the Maison du Bresil, in the formation and international insertion of some researchers.

The scientificalization1 of educational research methods was always the most predominant in the two tides of educational experiment in China in the twentieth century,the result of which was unexpectedly dissatisfactory,because researchers misunderstood the connotation of scientificalization in such a degree that resulted in the worship for methods and thought of replacement.If researchers reflect dialectically on the classic codes of experiment,and aim at reconstructing the viewpoint of experiment in education in the dimensions of ideas and pattern,they would guide the research on education by an“ideal type”,decently intervene the“logic of practice”with the“logic of theory”,so that the theorists and practitioners in education can finally coexist and co-develop.

Narrative Research of Female Educational Experiences in China

Female education is an indispensable part of educational practice and research.In recent years,along with the development of both the women’s liberation movement and the expansion of the practice of female education,Chinese academic circles have become increasingly concerned with female education.Of these concerns,methodological innovation can be said to have achieved a great breakthrough in recent years.With the rise and development of“narrative research”in the field of education in China,new vitality has been breathed into the sphere of female educational research.Starting from the perspective of either historical studies or reality,researchers have made profound discoveries about the female educational experience,revealing Chinese women’s experiences in education,their stories of development,and the problems they have faced.Moreover,researchers have reviewed not only the freedom and restrictions that education brings to women,but also the influence exerted by Chinese education,cultural conventions,and social economic conditions on female progress and living circumstances.This article is mainly a comprehensive literary review of research by Chinese scholars who have used narrative research in their studies of female education.

Educational philosophy in China:a centennial retrospect and prospect

Educational philosophy in China during the 20th century started with the introduction of John Dewey’s educational philosophy thoughts,followed by the dissemination of Marxism thoughts of education,and initially established the framework of educational philosophy as an academic discipline.After the foundation of the People’s Republic of China in 1949,especially during the 1980s,under the guidance of Marxism,the discipline of educational philosophy has been maturing.While exploring China’s history of educational philosophy,this article also covers contemporary Western development.Future trends of this discipline include extending specific fields of research,increasing internationalization of research,enhancing the functions of both critique and guiding ideals of educational philosophy.

A Critical Review of Chinese Theoretical Research on Moral Education Since 2000

Purpose:The purpose of this article is to summarize and reflect Chinese theoretical research on moral education in the context of globalization and value pluralism since 2000 and to propose possible directions for the future research.Design/Approach/Methods:The research methods in this article are primarily literature review.Those papers which met the following criteria were selected and included in this review:(1)Papers published from 2000 to 2014 were included if they were cited by at least one other published article and(2)papers published from 2015 to 2017 were included if they were presented in a core research journal.Based on that,speculative thinking and critical thinking are also embodied in this research.Findings:Based on the features of“a man of virtue,”the article identifies the four dimensions that have influenced Chinese thinking about moral education:(1)Kantian and Enlightenment philosophy,(2)emotion and life experience,(3)social rights,and(4)the culture-value dimension.The four dimensions ofmoral education theory are related and complement,rather than contradict,eachother.The author argues that the research scopes underlying current moral education theories are fairly narrow.Amore comprehensive,interdisciplinary approach is needed to improve theoretical research and to enhance the effectiveness of moral education practice in schools and universities.Originality/Value:The article provides a latest overview and critical insights to consolidate the foundation of moral education in an era of societal transformation by comparing moral education research between China and the West and proposing realizing a deep integration between theory and practice.
