Geothermal resources exist in complex and comprehensive geological settings. In the current study, we proposed a CPU/GPU collaborative parallel prestack time migration methodology for geothermal resource exploration. First, seismic geological conditions in Xian County were obtained based on an analysis of drill cores for further seismic evaluation. Then,combined with the analysis of two-dimensional seismic data in the adjacent area, a test section with three seismic survey lines were designed to explore the geological structure of the study area. In the study area, the seismic data were derived through the multiple coverage reflection wave exploration method with explosive ignition in deep wells and high coverage frequency observations. Finally, we employed CPU/GPU collaborative parallel prestack time migration technology to analyze the obtained seismic data for geothermal resource evaluation. The favorable areas of karst fissure heat storage in Middle–Upper Proterozoic Jixianian and Paleozoic Cambrian–Ordovician rocks were inferred together with two preferred recommended exploration holes. 展开更多

Seismoelectric waves in a borehole excited by an external explosive source

The conversion of energy between seismic and electromagnetic wave fields has been described by Pride's coupled equations in porous media. In this paper, the seismoelectric field excited by the explosive point source located at the outside of the borehole is studied. The scattering fields inside and outside a borehole are analyzed and deduced under the boundary conditions at the interface between fluid and porous media. The influences of the distance of the point source, multipole components of the eccentric explosive source, and the receiving position along the axis of vertical borehole, on the converted waves inside the borehole are all investigated. When the distance from the acoustic source to the axis of a borehole is far enough, the longitudinal and coseismic longitudinal wave packets dominate the acoustic and electric field, respectively. The three components of both electric field and magnetic field can be detected, and the radial electric field is mainly excited and converted by the dipole component. Owing to the existence of borehole, the electric fields and magnetic fields in the borehole are azimuthal. The distance from the point where the maximum amplitude of the axial components of electric field is recorded, to the origin of coordinate indicates the horizontal distance from the explosive source to the axis of vertical borehole. 展开更多

It is difficult to acquire deep seismic reflection profiles on land using the standard oil-industry acquisition parameters. This is especially true over much of Tibetan plateau not only because of severe topography and rapid variation of both velocity and thickness of near-surface layer, but also strong attenuation of seismic wave through the thickest crust of the Earth. Large explosive sources had been successfully detonated in US, but its application in Tibetan plateau rarely has an example of good quality. Presented herein is the data of a 200-kg single shot we recorded in west Qinling, northeastern Tibetan plateau. The shot gather data with phenomenal signal-to-noise ratios illustrate the energy of the Prop phase. Although the observations are only limited to the northeastern Tibetan plateau and thus cannot comprise an exhaustive study, they nevertheless suggest that large explosions may be a useful exploration tool in Tibetan Plateau where standard seismic sources and profiling methods fail to produce adequate data of low crust. 展开更多

Underwater target localization and parameters(azimuth and range) estimation by the method of utilizing explosions as underwater sound sources are described in this paper.The narrow beam reverberation model of the target echo signal is researched to estimate the target azimuth in reverberation background.Estimation errors of target azimuth and range are studied and proved to approximately meet Gauss distribution.Then the variance formula of target range error is deduced.Simulation experiments are applied to research the target range error and its standard deviation,and a series of measures to improve the estimation accuracy of target range are proposed.It is confirmed by the data processing results of simulations and lake experiments that the proposed method can accurately locate underwater target at a long distance on the condition of a certain underwater explosion range error. 展开更多

Seismic waves generated in elastic media by ellipsoidal cavities driven by low frequency pressure can be solved by Eshelby′s method. In this paper we prove that this method, originally presented for elastostatic ellipsoidal inclusion problems, can also be applied to dynamic problems on the assumption that wavelengths are much longer than the dimensions of cavities. Comparison between the approximate solution for spherical cavities and its relevant precise solution shows that this method may be used for radii of cavities smaller than 100 m and for frequencies below 10 Hz. By this approach we show that, for low frequency seismic waves in the far field an explosive load on an ellipsoidal cavity can be equivalent to three dipoles oriented along the principal axes of that cavity. Seismic radiation patterns are given analytically and results thus obtained show that an explosion detonated in an ellipsoidal cavity may radiate significant S waves. 展开更多

This article gives a description of our first study on ground rotational motion and its pre-liminary results. The ground rotational motions around vertical axis were obtained using near-field translational records of a temporal seismic array with observational distances of 1.8 to 2.7 km. The sources used are explosions with explosive of 500 kg for each. Ground rotational velocities were calcu-lated using the space derivatives of the horizontal components of translational velocities from the array. The peak ground rotational velocities (PGRV) are approximately 30 to 57 ?rad/s. Our results are very close to those from Wassermann et al. (2009), who used both a seismic array and a rotational sensor to record an explosion in Germany and obtained PGRV values of about 50 ?rad/s. Their explosives are 150 kg, only one third of ours, but their observational distance is 250 m, much less than ours. 展开更多
