Effects of Perceived Teacher Support on Student Behavioral Engagement in the Blended Learning Environment:Learning Experience as a Mediator

Blended learning(BL)has been widely adopted to improve students’academic achievements in higher education.However,its success relies mainly on student engagement,which plays an essential role in active learning and provides a rich understanding of students’experiences.The study utilized three self-designed scales-the Teacher Support Scale,Student Engagement Scale,and Student Learning Experience Scale-to gauge and examine the impact and relationship between perceived teacher support,student behavioral engagement,and the intermediary role of learning experiences.A cohort of 899 college students undertaking the obligatory College English course through BL modes across five Chinese universities actively participated by completing a comprehensive questionnaire.The results showed significant correlations between perceived teacher support,learning experience,and behavioral engagement.Perceived teacher support significantly predicted students’behavioral engagement,with socio-affective support exerting the most substantial predictive effects.All predictive effects were partially mediated by learning experience(learning mode,online resources,overall LMS-based learning,interaction with their instructor and peers,and learning outcome).The influence of perceived teacher support on behavioral engagement differed between students who reported the most positive(vs.negative)learning experiences.Suggestions for further research are offered for consideration.

Experience Overview of Foreign Teachers in the Allocation of Resources of Compulsory Education Stage

This article briefly introduces the successful experience of American ＂Compensatory Education Program＂, British ＂Education Action Zone＂, French＂Priority Education Zone Policy＂ and Japanese ＂Regular Flow of TeachersSystem＂, which are about the optimal allocation of compulsory education teacher resources allocation. Corresponding enlightenment has been gotten based on it. In addition, this article holds the opinion that we can focus on the reference and practice of Japan, and implement the regular flow of teachers. The main reason is that China has possessed the key condition of carrying out this system.

Outside the Backdoor:Entrepreneurship,Field Experience and Preservice Teachers

This research is to share qualitative data of one preservice teacher,and one early childhood entrepreneur,who educated young children in an exclusive outdoor preschool.The study was conducted in a rural community where most preschools were held in the traditional venue-inside.The Coronavirus-19 pandemic presented many obstacles to the placement of preservice teachers in an appropriate early childhood setting.The university discouraged all direct contact with children.Instead,preservice teachers were expected to view videos of veteran teachers,who in former years,submitted teaching videos to obtain a“National Boards Certification.”The objective was that the preservice teachers would“reflect”and learn from the electronic source.This electronic substitution was unacceptable to the researcher.Practicum experiences allow for rich collaboration between preservice teacher and child.Electronic sources can never replicate the rich learning that happens during an authentic face-to face encounter with a child.Thus,the vision for the study was born.As an alternative to exclusive electronic learning,the preservice university supervisor initiated the opportunity for preservice teachers to participate with a local entrepreneur who was in the process of designing and implementing an exclusive outdoor school.Nature and environmental field experience opportunities for preservice teachers are promising alternatives to the traditional preschool setting.Venues that encourage nature and environmental studies enhance early childhood programs and create opportunities for preservice teachers,and the children they serve,to appreciate the nature around them enhancing their natural curiosity and investigative skills to seek,study,and share.This research article shares the reflections of both the preschool entrepreneur as well as the preservice teacher.It is a pragmatic description of how the exclusive outdoor environment is feasible and presents the challenges and assets that the environmental venue provides.

Teacher Education—Experiences and Challenges

Teacher education is fundamental to the attainment of the objectives of education of any nation.In Nigeria for example,research reports indicate that during the past 18 years,the quality of teachers produced from the Nigeria’s various teacher education institutions has dropped significantly.This paper examines the various teaching experiences acquired through training including new skills gained and challenges encountered in the current teacher education programme in Nigeria that have contributed to the decline in teacher quality and experiences.It was discovered that poor quality of candidates admitted,lack of interest to take teaching as career,poor funding,poor public image of the teacher,high incidence of examination malpractice among student-teachers,and lack of motivation and good incentives among teacher educators are some of the challenges on teacher education.The paper recommends that Government at all levels and all nations should increase funding of teacher education,high quality students should be admitted,and Government should initiate programmes that can enhance the status of the teaching profession etc.

The Dynamism of Teachers＇ Identity： The Case of Iranian EFL Teachers

Recent conceptualizations of professional identity as an ongoing process of interpretation and re-interpretation of experiences demonstrate that it is dynamic and subject to an ongoing learning process. In effect, identity is essentially viewed as fluid, dynamic, recursive, and discursive process in which statements about actions are translated into statements about states, and vice versa. Having these standpoints in mind, the present paper aims at depicting the profile of English as a foreign language （EFL） teachers＇ professional identity. The second purpose of this study is to examine the relationships among the components of teachers＇ professional identity as measured by Kao and Lin＇s （2015） model comprising six latent factors of teachers＇ professional identity： self-expectation （SE）, teachers＇ duties （TD）, external influential factors （EF）, pedagogy （PE）, instructional skills and knowledge （SK）, and teachers＇ citizenship behavior （CB）. This study also sought to scrutinize the dynamics of teachers＇ identity in accordance with their teaching experience, gender, and educational level. For these purposes, 110 EFL teachers were chosen from different language institutes in Mashhad, a city in northeastern Iran. The results indicated that SE received the highest value and EF obtained the lowest mean score in our sample. The highest correlation was observed between SK and PE, followed by the relationship between TD and PE. The results indicated that there were significant correlations between teachers＇ teaching experience and all the teachers＇ identity components. It was also found that there were statistically significant differences between male and females in four components of identity as follows： TD, PE, SK, and CB. The results showed that there were variations in teacher identity with regards to their educational level.

Objective:To summarize clinical experience of Professor QIAO Bao-zhang in treatment for pancreatic cancer,and to provide reference for clinicians.Methods:Through learning from Professor QIAO during his clinical practice and listening to his lectures,Professor QIAO Bao-zhang's clinically proved cases of treating pancreatic cancer based on syndrome differentiation were organized and summarized.From aspects like etiology,pathogenesis,treatment principles and treatment methods of pancreatic cancer,Professor QIAO's experience in diagnosis and treatment for this disease was analyzed and explored,and characteristics of medication were summarized.Two typical cases were selected as proof,and his treatment ideas and methods were explored.Results:Professor QIAO believes that the pathogenesis is mostly deficiency of vital Qi(正气),and stagnation of phlegm,heat and dampness in Zang-Fu(脏腑)and meridians.Around intermingled deficiency and excess,syndrome differentiation and treatment were performed.Due to treatment methods such as strengthening vital Qi to eliminate pathogenic factor,clearing heat,eliminating dampness and resolving phlegm,as well as removing toxicity and resolving hard mass,progress of malignant tumors was inhibited and recurrence and metastasis of malignant tumors were delayed.Conclusion:Professor QIAO's experience in treating pancreatic cancer is worth learning.

我国职业院校“双师型”教师政策变迁:主题、特征与经验——基于1995—2022年政策文本的NVivo分析

“双师型”教师是新时代职业教育改革的关键力量,是实现职业教育高质量发展的重要基础,而“双师型”教师政策是影响职业院校教师发展的关键因素。基于NVivo软件对我国1995—2022年期间的“双师型”教师政策进行数据统计,结果表明“双师型”教师政策经历了注重实践能力培养阶段(1995—2003年)、侧重管理规范建设阶段(2004—2018年)、促进教师专业发展阶段(2019年至今)三次主题变迁;呈现出概念内涵逐步理性化、建设路径逐步可操作化、配套保障逐步完善的特点;形成了将“双师型”教师发展列为政策优先领域、充分发挥地方积极性和创造性、以项目方式推动培养培训工作和通过制度创新推动治理现代化的政策经验。
