As a clean and sustainable electrified heating technology, air-source heat pumps (ASHPs) are widely used in areas lacking central heating. However, as a major component of space heating, heating terminals might not fit well with ASHP in order to achieve both intermittency and comfort. Therefore, this study proposes a novel radiation-adjustable heating terminal combined with an ASHP to achieve electrification, intermittency, and better thermal comfort. Radiant terminals currently suffer from three major problems: limited maximum heating capacity, inability to freely adapt, and difficulty with combining them with ASHPs. These problems were solved by improving the structural design of the novel terminal (Improvement A–E). Results showed that the maximum heating capacity increased by 23.6% and radiation heat transfer ratio from 10.1% to 30.9% was provided for users with the novel terminal. Further, new flat heat pipe (FHP) design improved stability (compressor oil return), intermittency (refrigerant thermal inertia), and safety (refrigerant leakage risk) by reducing the length of exposed refrigerant pipes. Furthermore, a new phased operation strategy was proposed for the novel terminal, and the adjustability of the terminal was improved. The results can be used as reference information for decarbonizing buildings by electrifying heating terminals.展开更多

It is difficult to study instabilities experimentally since vacuum breakdown can happen. In this model, we show the factors that lead to thermal instability during field emission. After the Nottingham flux inversion, we see a considerable rise in temperature above a threshold electric field, followed by a thermal runaway. Cathode spots experience unexpected thermal defects and breakdowns, which is a phenomenon known as the Nottingham Inversion Instability. Although the idea of micro protrusions is frequently used in modeling studies, this study concentrates on the thermal effects during field emission from a planar cathode without taking the existence of such protrusions into account. The study reveals how Nottingham’s heating effect changes from heating to cooling. In our study, we have investigated the interaction between Nottingham, Joule heating, and effective work function. The results also imply that faster reaching critical temperature is associated with larger maximum beta values. These discoveries have significance for the design and improvement of high-voltage systems and help to understand vacuum breakdown. The possibility of cathode spot ignition and subsequent vacuum breakdown is predicted by our model, which would make it possible to create a self-consistent model for that.展开更多

It is commonly forged to shape for use in aerospace parts. Three different small pilot-scale AA2014 billets were subjected to different heating operations, to physically simulate a pre-forge heating operation. The unheated sample and heated samples were then analysed for micro structural evolution and mechanical properties, to understand how the pre-forge heat treatments may vary the starting condition of the alloy before being forged. It was shown that an induction heating process has the greatest impact upon the precipitation distribution. Whilst this variation is commonly considered a negative impact, the opportunity to control the induction heating to promote preferential microstructure at specific locations within the billet may be possible.展开更多

文摘The determination of source-side extracted heating parameters is of great significance to the economic operation of cogeneration systems. This paper investigated the coupling performance of a cogeneration heating and power system multidimensionally based on the operating characteristics of the cogeneration units, the hydraulic and thermodynamic characteristics of the heating network, and the energy loads.Taking a steam network supported by a gas-steam combined cycle cogeneration system as the research case, the interaction effect among the source-side prime movers, the heating networks, and the terminal demand thermal parameters were investigated based on the designed values, the plant testing data, and the validated simulation. The operating maps of the gas-steam combined cycle cogeneration units were obtained using THERMOFLEX,and the minimum source-side steam parameters of the steam network were solved using an inverse solution procedure based on the hydro-thermodynamic coupling model. The cogeneration operating maps indicate that the available operating domain considerably narrows with the rise of the extraction steam pressure and flow rate. The heating network inverse solution demonstrates that the source-side steam pressure and temperature can be optimized from the originally designed 1.11 MPa and 238.8°C to 1.074 MPa and 191.15°C,respectively.Under the operating strategy with the minimum source-side heating parameters, the power peak regulation depth remarkably increases to 18.30%whereas the comprehensive thermal efficiency decreases. The operation under the minimum source-side heating steam parameters can be superior to the originally designed one in the economy at a higher price of the heating steam. At a fuel price of$0.38/kg and the power to fuel price of 0.18 kg/(kW·h),the critical price ratio of heating steam to fuel is 119.1 kg/t.The influence of the power-fuel price ratio on the economic deviation appears relatively weak.
文摘The article analyses the problem of determining the operating parameters of the district heating substation cooperating with the air heating system in technological air conditioning systems equipped with heat exchangers with high efficiency of heat recovery.Attention was paid to the correct selection of heat exchangers for the heat output balance depending on the heat recovery protection algorithms against a drop in the temperature of the heat transfer surface below 0℃.Critical parameters were determined in Polish climatic conditions,at which the operation of the heat recovery exchanger in the air conditioning system is switched off or limited. It has been proven that the proper functioning of the district heating substation cooperating with the installation of air conditioning with high heat recovery efficiency requires the use of two heat exchangers with different characteristics, equipped with properly selected temperature control systems. The optimal model of cooperation between the technological air conditioning system and the heating substation was also indicated.
文摘Heat transfer in an Eyring-Powell fluid that conducts electricity and flows past an exponentially growing sheet is considered. As the sheet is stretched in the x direction, the flow develops in the region with y>0.The problem is tackled through a set of partial differential equations accounting for Magnetohydrodynamics(MHD),radiation and Joule heating effects, which are converted into a set of equivalent ordinary differential equations through a similarity transformation. The converted problem is solved in MATLAB in the framework a fourth order accurate integration scheme. It is found that the thermal relaxation period is inversely proportional to the thickness of the thermal boundary layer, whereas the Eckert-number displays the opposite trend. As this characteristic number grows, the temperature within the channel increases.

文摘The electrification of building heating is an effective way to meet the global carbon target. The results can be used as reference information for decarbonizing buildings by electrifying heating terminals.

文摘A power-supply system was developed for Ohmic heating(OH)to double×10^(18)the amount of change magnetic flux in the primary central solenoid(CS)on the QUEST spherical tokamak. Two power supplies are connected with stacks of insulated-gate bipolar transistors, and sequentially operated to generate positive and negative CS currents. This bipolar power-supply system is controlled via a field-programmable gate array, which guarantees the safety of the entire system operation. The new OH system, assisted by electron cyclotron heating, enables the stable generation of plasma currents exceeding 100 k A.Moreover, the achieved electron density over the wide range in the major radial direction exceeds the cut-off density for one of the highpower microwave sources in QUEST.This strategy yields target plasmas for future experiments with the electron Bernstein wave.
文摘To enhance system stability, solar collectors have been integrated with air-source heat pumps. This integration facilitates the concurrent utilization of solar and air as energy sources for the system, leading to an improvement in the system’s heat generation coefficient, overall efficiency, and stability. In this study,we focus on a residential building located in Lhasa as the target for heating purposes.Initially,we simulate and analyze a solar-air source heat pump combined heating system.Subsequently, while ensuring the system meets user requirements,we examine the influence of solar collector installation angles and collector area on the performance of the solar-air source heat pump dual heating system.Through this analysis,we determine the optimal installation angle and collector area to optimize system performance.

文摘In the hot summer&cold winter zone in China, intermittent heating space for rooms is widely used. However,in comparison with continuous space heating, the energy-saving performance of intermittent space heating has not been sufficiently investigated. This paper studied the factors influencing the energy performance of intermittent heating for the representativeoffice inhot summer&coldwinter zone.Basedon theheatbalancemethod, adynamic thermalmodel of the intermittent heating roomwas built and tested by experiments. And then,it analyzed the total space heating load, the amount of energy saving and energy saving ratio of the intermittent heating under different preheating hours, occupation hours, required roomtemperatures, air change rates, overall heat transfer coefficients(U-value)of windows and wall materials. If the adjacent rooms were not heated, for a typical room occupied about 10 h a day,the energy-saving ratio of intermittent heating was about 30%compared with continuous heating. But the preheating power was higher than two times of continuous heating. The results also indicated that the occupation hours had a significant effect on energy saving amount and ratio,it should be noted that the energy saving ratio by intermittent heating was much lower than the unoccupied period ratio.Relative to other factors, the heating temperatures, room air change rates and U-value of windows, and room envelope materials had little effect on energy efficiency. If the adjacent rooms were heated in the same manner as the roomin question, the energy-saving ratio of the total load of intermittent heating was heavily reduced to 8.46%.

文摘In recent years, the rapid development of the new energy industry has driven continuous upgrading of high-density and high-power devices. In the packaging and assembly process, the problem of differentiation of the thermal needs of different modules has become increasingly prominent, especially for small-size solder joints with high heat dissipation in high-power devices.Localized soldering is con-sidered a suitable choice to selectively heat the desired target while not affecting other heat-sensitive chips. This paper reviews several local-ized soldering processes, focusing on the size of solder joints, soldering materials, and current state of the technique. Each localized solder-ing process was discovered to have unique characteristics. The requirements for small-size solder joints are met by laser soldering,microres-istance soldering, and self-propagating soldering;however, laser soldering has difficulty meeting the requirements for large heat dissipation, microresistance soldering requires the application of pressure to joints, and self-propagating soldering requires ignition materials. However, for small-size solder junctions, selective wave soldering, microwave soldering, and ultrasonic soldering are not appropriate.Because the magnetic field can be focused on a tiny area and the output energy of induction heating is large, induction soldering can be employed as a significant trend in future research.

文摘This study reports the first experimental demonstration of surface contamination cleaning from a high-repetition supply of thin-tape targets for laser-driven carbon-ion acceleration. The adsorption of contaminants containing protons, mainly water vapor and hydrocarbons,on the surface of materials exposed to low vacuum(>10^(−3)Pa)suppresses carbon-ion acceleration. The newly developed contamination cleaner heats a 5-μm-thick nickel tape to over 400℃in 100 ms by induction heating. In the future, this heating method could be scaled to laserdriven carbon-ion acceleration at rates beyond 10 Hz.The contaminant hydrogen is eliminated from the heated nickel surface, and a carbon source layer—derived from the contaminant carbon—is spontaneously formed by the catalytic effect of nickel. The species of ions accelerated from the nickel film heated to various temperatures have been observed experimentally. When the nickel film is heated beyond∼150℃,the proton signal considerably decreases, with a remarkable increase in the number and energy of carbon ions. The Langmuir adsorption model adequately explains the temperature dependence of desorption and re-adsorption of the adsorbed molecules on a heated target surface, and the temperature required for proton-free carbon-ion acceleration can be estimated.
文摘Long-term research has been done on the unstable behaviors and electron emission from microprotrusions, but the whole reason is still not clear. The possibility of cathode spot ignition and subsequent vacuum breakdown is predicted by our model, which would make it possible to create a self-consistent model for that.

文摘For heating systems based on electricity storage coupled with solar energy and an air source heat pump(ECSA),choosing the appropriate combination of heat sources according to local conditions is the key to improving economic efficiency. In this paper, four cities in three climatic regions in China were selected, namely Nanjing in the hot summer and cold winter region,Tianjin in the cold region,Shenyang and Harbin in the severe cold winter region. The levelized cost of heat(LCOH)was used as the economic evaluation index, and the energy consumption and emissions of different pollutants were analyzed.TRNSYS software was used to simulate and analyze the system performance. The Hooke-Jeeves optimization algorithm and GenOpt software were used to optimize the system parameters. The results showed that ECSA systemhad an excellent operation effect in cold region and hot summer and cold winter region.Compared with ECS system, the systemenergy consumption, and the emission of different pollutants of ECSA system can be reduced by a maximum of 1.37 times. In cold region, the initial investment in an air source heat pump is higher due to the lower ambient temperature, resulting in an increase in the LOCH value of ECSA system. After the LOCH value of ECSA system in each region was optimized, the heating cost of the system was reduced, but also resulted in an increase in energy consumption and the emission of different pollutant gases.
文摘The aluminium alloy AA2014 is one of the most widely used of the 2xxx series alloys, owing to its superior strength-to-weight ratio and stiffness. Whilst this variation is commonly considered a negative impact, the opportunity to control the induction heating to promote preferential microstructure at specific locations within the billet may be possible.
