Monte Carlo calculation of the exposure of Chinese female astronauts to earth’s trapped radiation on board the Chinese Space Station

With the development of China’s crewed space mission,the space radiation risk for astronauts is increasingly prominent.This paper describes a simulation of the radiation doses experienced by a Chinese female voxel phantom on board the Chinese Space Station(CSS)performed using the Monte Carlo N-Particle(MCNP)software.The absorbed dose,equivalent dose,and effective dose experienced by the voxel phantom and its critical organs are discussed for different levels of shielding of the Tianhe core module.The risk of space-radiation exposure is then assessed by comparing these doses with the current risk limits in China(the skin dose limit for short-term low-earth-orbit missions)and the NASA figures(National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements Report No.98)for female astronauts.The results obtained can be used to guide and optimize the radiation protection provided for manned space missions.

Study on intestinal flora of acupoint catgut embedding intervention in female patients with abdominal obesity: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

Background:Obesity,as an epidemic public health issue in the world today,not only brings a heavy medical burden to society but also seriously affects people’s quality of life.In the context of new evidence for the efficacy of acupoint catgut embedding(ACE)in abdominal obesity(AO),it is necessary to elucidate the mechanism of ACE for AO.The intestinal flora is closely associated with obesity,and the study of its intestinal flora may provide evidence to clarify the mechanism of obesity treatment by ACE.Methods:75 participants will be recruited in this study,including 60 eligible female patients diagnosed with AO and 15 healthy female participants.60 female AO patients will be randomized to ACE group,sham ACE group,and waiting list(WL)group in a ratio of 1:1:1.Patients in two ACE groups will receive one ACE treatment per week for 12 consecutive weeks,and in the WL group will not receive any treatment;only their data will be extracted.The primary outcome is the mean change in body mass index.Secondary effects include waist circumference,body weight,the visual analog score of appetite,and the Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale.High-throughput 16S ribosomal ribonucleic acid gene sequencing will be used to detect intestinal flora in each group before and after the intervention.Conclusion:The results of this trial are expected to identify the critical intestinal flora causing AO and the target intestinal flora of AO regulated by ACE,providing further theoretical support for ACE in the clinical treatment of obesity.

Research on the inwall shot blasting of the S30432 high-pressure boiler tube

Inwall shot blasting is a method of improving the surface hardness and high temperature oxidation resistance of the S30432 high-pressure boiler tube.The differences on residual stress,sub-grain size,micro-hardness and structure between the S30432 inwall shot-blasting tube produced by Baosteel with six technological process parameters and the imported super 304H were studied systematically by contrast test research.It has been demonstrated that the S30432 obtains a higher residual stress,a deeper distributed layer and a better sub-grain size of the inwall field shot-blasting layer;the martensite content of the shot-blasting surface was low;and micro-hardness and structure refinement were better.After 2000 h’ oxidation test under the 650℃/26MPa steam condition,steam oxidation resistance of the Baosteel steel tube shot-blasting surface was higher,the oxide layer was thinner,and was well combined with bulk material.

Multi-step shot noise spectrum induced by a local large spin

We use non-equilibrium Green＇s function method to analyze the shot noise spectrum of artificial single molecular magnets（ASMM） model in the strong spin–orbit coupling limit in sequential tunneling regime, mainly focusing on the effects of local large spin. In the linear response regime, the shot noise shows 2S ＋ 1 peaks and is strongly spin-dependent.In the nonlinear response regime, one can observe 2S ＋ 1 steps in shot noise and Fano factor. In these steps one can see the significant enhancement effect due to the spin-dependent multi-channel process of local large spin, which reduces electron correlations.

Effect of Varying Carbon Content and Shot Peening upon Fatigue Performance of Prealloyed Sintered Steels

The aim of the work was to find out how the modification of surface treatment and microstructures affect the fatigue characteristics of the considered sintered materials. Two different systems were prepared： as-sintered and shot peened prealloyed sintered （Astaloy CrL based） steels with addition of 0.5% and 0.7% C. Sintering was carried out in laboratory tube furnace in an atmosphere of pure gases 75%N2＋25%H2. The sintering temperature was 1180℃ and sintering time was 60 min. Heating and cooling rates were 10℃/min. Fatigue tests were carried out in symmetric plane bending at stress ratio R=-1 with frequency of about 24 Hz. The presented experimental results showed that prealloyed water-atomised steels, with surface modification, exhibit positive effects on the fatigue failure resistance, and for that reason are suitable for high-performance applications.

Extramammary Paget’s Disease Manifested by Intraepithelial Adenocarcinoma of the Vulva and Anus Combined with Invasive Adenocarcinoma of the Ampullary Part of the Rectum

The Object of the Study: The author of the given paper describes an unusual combination of two diseases: extramammary Paget’s disease manifested by intraepithelial adenocarcinoma of the vulva and anus combined with invasive adenocarcinoma of the ampullary part of the rectum and describes the atypical manifestations of these diseases. The Content: The content of this research paper includes a description of the patient, an analysis of the clinical picture, diagnostic methods and therapeutic interventions used, a report of the following disease, and the result of the presented case. The Result of the Research Work: The result of the research work is the analysis of a clinical case with two different tumors, where such a combination of tumors is rarely described in the literature. Moreover, no large specific sample with this combination of diseases is available. Patient Characteristics: The given case report describes a patient of the Palliative Care Unit of the Gerontology Clinic with a primary diagnosis of C20-rectal adenocarcinoma in the background of the anal canal, perineal skin Paget’s disease, stage IV. The presented complications of the patient’s primary diagnosis are multiple metastases in the liver;status post palliative chemotherapy;hepatomegaly;metastases to abdominal lymph nodes, inguinal lymph nodes;metastases at Th12, L4 level;pain syndrome. The presented above combination of diagnosed diseases is very rare. Applied Diagnostics: In October 2021, it was performed diagnostic manipulation: biopsy and the pathologist have provided a microscopic description. The first tissue fragment had a pronounced electrothermal lesion and the epithelial structures were not valuable. The second skin tissue fragment was covered with hyperplastic and acanthotic epithelium;its basal and middle layers contained multiple large cells proliferates extending into the medial epidermis, and the cytoplasm of these cells reacted positively with PAS (Periodic Acid Schiff reaction). It needs to be noted that the patient had previously had several years of biopsies from the perineal and anal epidermis, where Paget’s disease had also been diagnosed. The performed immunohistochemistry showed these cells to be CK20 positive, CK7 rare positive and p16 negative. The following pathohistological findings were made: morphological and immunohistochemical picture is consistent with Paget’s disease. According to the ICD-10, the patient was diagnosed with C51 malignant neoplasm of the female external genitalia. Using imaging diagnostics, it became clear that the patient’s rectal adenocarcinoma had progressed to metastatic stage with distant liver metastases in the background of anal canal, perineal skin Paget’s disease. Therapeutic Plan of the Patient: Based on the patient’s main diagnoses, the complications of the principal diagnosis, the patient’s overall severe condition, pain syndrome, age and comorbidities, palliative chemotherapy was approved as a therapeutic option in council of doctors. Monitoring and Outcome of the Patient: The patient’s general condition was becoming worse over time, and she was diagnosed with exitus latalis in December 2022. At that time, the patient was discharged from hospital and was on palliative care at home under the control of her family physician.

目的探讨双酚S(BPS)对青春期雌性大鼠性早熟的作用及可能的机制。方法将60只雌性Wistar大鼠随机分为5组,分别为对照组、不同浓度[0.2mg/(kg·d)、1mg/(kg·d)、5mg/(kg·d)]BPS组及50μg/(kg·d)雌二醇(E_(2))组,每组12只。观察各组大鼠一般行为状况及阴道开口时间;采用Nissl染色观察下丘脑组织病理变化;采用TUNEL染色观察下丘脑神经细胞凋亡情况;采用实时荧光定量聚合酶链反应(qRT-PCR)法检测下丘脑中胰岛素生长因子-1(IGF-1)和促性腺激素释放激素(GnRH)mRNA表达水平;采用Western blot法检测下丘脑中IGF-1、IGF-1受体(IGF-1R)、PI3K、Akt、mTOR、GnRH蛋白表达水平。结果BPS染毒过程中,所有实验大鼠均存活。与对照组比较,不同剂量BPS组大鼠出现不同程度的疲乏、厌食等症状,以5mg/(kg·d)BPS组最为明显,同时5mg/(kg·d)BPS组和50μg/(kg·d)E_(2)组大鼠的阴道开口时间提前(P<0.05);与对照组比较,不同剂量BPS组大鼠下丘脑尼氏体光密度(OD)值增加(P<0.05);不同剂量BPS组神经细胞凋亡率较对照组减少(P<0.05);不同剂量BPS组IGF-1、GnRH mRNA表达均高于对照组(P<0.05);与对照组比较,5mg/(kg·d)BPS组和50μg/(kg·d)E_(2)组大鼠下丘脑中IGF-1、IGF-1R、PI3K、Akt、mTOR、GnRH蛋白表达水平上升(P<0.05)。结论BPS暴露加速了雌性大鼠性早熟,其机制可能与激活IGF-1信号通路促进GnRH分泌有关。
