Before the fiber breakage, the stresses of all fibers are identical. With the creep time increasing, stress in fiber increases but stress in matrix decreases. It is assumed that the fiber breakage occurs when the stress in fiber reaches a critical value. The stress redistribution resulted from the breakage of fiber has been obtained. The influence on the axial stress of the broken fiber is local. The stress in the all fiber sections is not uniform. There is a local stress concentration in the matrix. And this stress concentration in the matrix is more and more serious with the creep deformation. The stress transference of the loading due to the fiber breakage has been studies numerically. It is found that the fibers near to the broken fiber will take over more loading.展开更多

The mechanical properties of the composites fabricated by different sintering conditions including temperature and pressure have been investigated. The results indicated that the higher sintering temperature and pressure corresponded to the higher bulk density and higher maximum strength of the composite, whereas the pseudo-ductility of the composite was lower. The preliminary results of the composite with monazite-coated fibers showed that maximum strength could be improved up to 35% compared with the noncoated fiber composite in the same sintering condition. Moreover, the fracture behavior of the composite changed from completely brittle fracture to non-brittle fracture under the suitable sintering conditions. SEM observation of the fracture surface indicated that the coating worked as a protective barrier and avoided sintering of the fibers together even at high temperature and pressure during densificatio展开更多

Model and Formulation. Based on the theory proposed in Part I, the formulae predicting stiffness moduli of the composites in some typical cases of whisker orientations and loading conditions are derived and compared with theoretical representatives in literatures, experimental measurement and commonly used empirical formulae. It seems that (1) with whisker reinforcing and matrix hardening considered, the present prediction is in well agreement with the experimental measurement; (2) the present theory can predict accurate moduli with the proper pre calculated parameters; (3) the upper bound and lower bound of the present theory are just the predictions of equal strain theory and equal stress theory; (4) the present theory provides a physical explanation and theoretical base for the present commonly used empirical formulae. Compared with the microscopic mechanical theories, the present theory is competent for modulus prediction of practical engineering composite in accuracy and simplicity. [WT5”HZ]展开更多

Furthermore, the thickness of the SiC layer increases with increasing tetraethylorthosilicate content and deposition time. SiC coatings have no significant influence on the bending strength of the composites. However, the oxidation resistance of the composites increases with increasing thickness of the SiC layer.

文摘Carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites(CFRTP)and metals hybrid structures have been widely used in aircraft lightweight manufacturing. However, due to the significant difference in physical and chemical properties between CFRTP and metals, there are lots of challenges to connect them with high quality.Laser welding has a good application prospect in CFRTP and metals connection, and a significant research progress has been made in the exploration of CFRTP-metal laser joining mechanism, joining process optimization, joining strength improvement and joining defects controlling. However, there are still some problems need to be solved for this technology application. In this paper, the research progress of CFRTP-metal laser joining was summarized in three major aspects:theoretical modeling and simulation analysis, process exploration and parameter optimization, joint performance improvement and process innovation. And,problems and challenges of this technology were discussed, and the outlook of this research was provided.

文摘Jute is a natural fiber widely used as reinforcement in composites due to its high tensile strength and stiffness, but they can easily absorb water and have their physical properties compromised. The water absorption properties of jute/polyester composites are evaluated according to ASTM D 570 and the effect of humidity in the composite mechanical behavior is also analyzed. The composite showed a pseudo-Fickian behavior and gained 13.37%in weight after the test.It also lost tensile strength and elasticity modulus, and increased its specific deformation.Scanning electron microscope images showed that wet specimens were more subject to cracks, voids and fiber pullout than dry specimens.Failures produced by water diffusion in composite and polymer plasticization, added to breakdown in the fibers’cellulosic structures, justify the change in mechanical properties due to water absorption.

文摘The present paper continues the discussion in Part I. [WT5”HZ]
