As a deposition technology, gas metal arc welding (GMAW) has shown new promise for rapid prototyping of metallic parts. During the process of metal forming using the arc of GMA W, low heat input and stable droplet transition are critical to high quality figuration. The effects of various processing parameters on figuration quality were studied in the experiment of GMA W rapid prototyping using the wire of ERSO-6 , including welding voltage, wire feeding rate, welding speed and so on. The optimal parameters for ERSO-6 are obtained. Simultaneously, it is verified that the rapid prototyping parts with favorable structures and quality can be achieved under the conditions of low heat input and stable droplet transition. 展开更多

The agile manufacturing is a new conception for rap id reaction to the consumers. One of its implements is establishing a virtual ente rprise (VE) around the task, where each manufacturing unit, or sub-task, probab ly have at least one resource, or referred to as suppliers. Because each manufac turing unit might be carried out in different geographical places that implies t his probably gives rise to transportation cost, the selection of resources for e ach manufacturing unit must considers not only the manufacturing price of each r esource but also the transfer cost between any two potential resources. This pap er discusses the resource reconfiguration problem with two hypotheses: 1. Permit s one or more resources to attend the same manufacturing unit as long as the tot al cost can reach its least; 2. The freight contains the initial part, that is t he freight concave. Indeed, these hypotheses are much meaningful in the real wor ld. Furthermore, to simplify the solution for this problem, we propose two conce pts: assembly tree (AT) and combinatorial mode base (CMB). Formally an AT is a c omplete production line, which can ensure the parts equilibrium, and its capacit y is subjected to the least capacity of every resources and every path in it. In the end, we propose an implicit enumeration algorithm (IEA) by the use of CMB, including it is a heuristic algorithm for integer programming (HAIP) by the use of AT. The IEA can be outlined that for a determined combinatorial mode, if it h as not enumerated, we use the HAIP to get an near optima and corresponding CMB, marking every combinatorial mode extended from the CMB as enumerated, other cont inue a new iteration. The HAIP can be outlined that for a determined combinatori al mode, there are some determined number of AT, we select an AT with the le ast slope, and select the volume of this AT to its ultimate within its capacity, iterates this doing until the needed volume reached. In the end, we conclude th is paper and prospect the deep research based on GA thought. 展开更多

A multi-electrode array is commonly applied in a plasma sparker to generate stable acoustic pulses.In this paper, the effects of the electrode configuration on the performance of a plasma sparker have been investigated. In terms of the load electrical characteristics, the electrode radius and distance have negligible influence on the electric characteristics, whereas a larger electrode number results in a smaller voltage and a larger current but has little effect on the load energy. Regarding the acoustic characteristics, both the expansion and collapse pulses can be increased by decreasing the electrode tip radius. the influence of the electrode number and electrode gap distance on the amplitude of the expansion pulse was found to be negligible. And the amplitude of the collapse pulse decreases significantly with increasing electrode number. Increasing the electrode number decreases the energy efficiency for intense bubble interactions, thus, a small electrode tip radius and a small electrode number are preferred for the design of a plasma sparker if the total discharge energy is given. 展开更多

Configurations such as single pass (SP), single pass with filter (SPF), double pass (DP) and double pass with filter (DPF) are designed, investigated and compared. A continuous increasing of gain value is recorded by changing the configuration from SP to SPF to DP then to DPF. The NF value shows different behaviors at different configurations. 展开更多

Programmable droplet manipulation based on external stimulation is in high demand in various modern technologies.Despite notable progress,current manipulation strategies still suffer from a common drawback such as single control means of modulating the external stimulation input,which leads to huge challenges in sophisticated and large scale-up droplet handling.Herein,a unique patternreconfiguration-driven droplet manipulation method is developed on conductive/nonconductive pattern surfaces under charge deposition.Contactless charge deposition induces the“edge barrier”phenomenon at the boundaries of conductive/nonconductive patterns,analogous to an invisible and tunable wall guiding droplet behaviors.The edge barrier effect can be flexibly tuned by the nonconductive surface pattern.Thus,with charge deposition,surfaces are endowed with protean control functionality.The design of conductive/nonconductive patterns can effectively enable multifunction droplet manipulations,including track-guided sliding,sorting,merging,and mixing.Moreover,dynamical pattern reconfiguration drives programmable fluidics with sophisticated and large scale-up droplet handling capabilities in a low-cost and simple approach. 展开更多
