Vocational Identity and Agency of Chinese College Students: Effects of Filial Piety and Implications in Career Education

Balancing family obligations and personal aspirations is crucial for college students in making life decisions.This critical review examined empirical studies on the effects of filial piety on college students’vocational identity and agency.According to identity capital theory,college students need a sense of agency to construct identity consciously and adapt to adulthood.Filial piety may profoundly influence this process as the core value and internalized social structure for the role of being an adult child in a Chinese family.However,no studies have been conducted from the identity capital perspective.This review found that filial piety had direct effects on college students'vocational identity and also indirect effects by shaping specific agency competencies.The impact of filial piety on the agency was more likely to occur through providing normative guidance about adult roles,influencing how college students view family as a supportive resource,and perpetuating parenting experiences.Based on these findings,this article suggested further examining the mediating role of agency between filial piety and identity development,as well as the effects of filial piety on the psychological foundation of agency development.This review suggested enhancing the agency of college students and encouraging reflections on filial piety in career education.

“Filial Piety” in The Analects of Confucius and “Filial Piety” in Today’s Society

Against today’s backdrop of“filial piety”in society,the“filial piety”in the Analects of Confucius triggered heated debates.Since ancient times,“filial piety”,which is of great importance to traditional Chinese culture,has been an important part of Confucianism.“Ingratitude”will inevitably be condemned by society.But nowadays,“irrational filial piety”will turn into“foolish filial piety”.Therefore,what people should do is to carry out“rational filial piety”and carry forward Chinese traditional culture critically so as to make contribution to building a harmonious socialist society.

The Analects is the source of Confucian culture,and filial piety is the traditional virtue of the Chinese nation.The filial piety thought contained in The Analects is profound and concrete.From the macroscopic perspective,it is embodied in the filial piety and loyalty;from the perspective of family filial piety,it manifests itself as the four aspects of the individual s support,respect,courtesy and loyalty to parents.Through the in-depth interpretation of the filial piety in The Analects,and combination of the issues of endowment,education,empty nesters and left-behind children in rural areas,this paper explored its value in the individual,family and social construction.

The Relationships between Family Support, Attachment Types in Adulthood and Attitudes towards Filial Responsibility among Three Generations of Arab and Jewish Men

The aim of the current study was to compare between three generations groups of Arab and Jewish male’s attitudes towards filial responsibility. 121 university students, their fathers (116) and their grandfathers (114), answered a self-report questionnaire, which measured filial responsibility attitudes, type of attachment;self-esteem;sense of mastery and, family support. Results revealed ethnicity and religiosity differences as well as between-generations differences regarding filial responsibility. An additional finding brought to light the cross-generational differences in the relationship between the attachment style in adulthood and the attitudes regarding filial responsibility. The most important finding shows that the Arab male, especially in the youngest generation, finds himself in a socio-psychological-internal conflict between tradition and modernization regarding the family norms. Arab society, in attitudes towards filial responsibility, is still traditional in terms of its approach to the institutions of clan and, the men status within the family. Thus, mostly among the elderly Arab Muslims.

营销学者在探究绿色消费议题方面做了众多开创性工作,然而针对诱因不同的环境威胁是否及通过怎样的心理路径影响消费者绿色消费意愿的研究仍然匮乏。本文将环境威胁分为自然因素引发的环境威胁和人为因素引发的环境威胁两类,通过4组实验检验了两类环境威胁影响消费者绿色消费意愿的心理机制。研究结果证实了无论哪类环境威胁,都会对绿色产品购买行为产生积极影响,但不同类型的环境威胁会通过差异化认知过程和情绪反应影响绿色产品购买行为。当消费者面对自然因素引发的环境威胁时,其“外察”思维模式会起主导作用,此时敬畏感是促进绿色产品购买意愿的中介变量;当消费者面对人为因素引发的环境威胁时,其“内省”思维模式会起主导作用,此时内疚感是促进绿色产品购买意愿的中介变量。研究也证实了环境威胁对道德情绪的影响会受自然联结性和道德提升感的调节。

《今昔物语集》是日本古代说话文学中的集大成之作。本朝部中生动地描写了当时社会各阶层的生活,其中也记录了很多孝子、孝女的故事,广为流传。这些故事中蕴含的孝养思想深受中国儒家思想的影响,既强调子女应孝养父母,又要求父母要慈爱子女。可以说,这部说话文学所构建的亲子关系就是“父慈子孝”,同时也说明孝养思想在当时社会颇受重视,具有广泛的共识性。另一方面,《今昔物语集》本朝部中包括“佛教说话”和“世俗说话”两大类型,其宗教性和教训性特点尤为显著。孝养思想也受到了佛教思想的影响,强调孝养得善报、不孝遭恶报的因果报应。在宣扬佛教思想的同时,强调孝养父母的重要性。

养老保障视域下《民法典》赡养义务体系化之论

《民法典》使赡养义务体系化,但相关解释论的缺失影响了赡养义务功能的实现。为此,需要根植法律体系、立足社会现实,构建赡养义务体系解释论。以生存保障功能为起点,经由实践演进、理论沿革与条文修改,总则性赡养义务条款发展出全面性内涵。将赡养理解为全面性赡养,是《民法典》赡养义务实质体系化的基础。以合理性与可行性为考量,需要界分法律性赡养与道德性赡养,且子女、孙子女、外孙子女的强制性赡养义务应被限制为物质性赡养。而在以被赡养人为中心的理念下,孙子女、外孙子女赡养义务虽属次生补位性质的义务,但其履行基准不宜与子女赡养义务有所区分。有关丧偶儿媳、女婿赡养义务的条款属于权利取得条款,具有激励性、倡导性作用,其伦理基础是继承人与被继承人之间形成的家庭性、道德性关系,因而其要件不宜限定为物质性要素,而应综合考虑物质性赡养、精神性赡养、照料、保护等要素。

以传统孝善文化推动乡村文化振兴

良好的家教家风和乡风民情是乡村振兴的内在要求,传统孝善文化能在乡村振兴和以孝治村方面发挥积极作用。然而,工业化、城市化和现代化的发展消解了传统乡村孝善文化,青壮年脱离农村,血缘亲情关系变得陌生与冷漠,老人在家庭中的地位被边缘化,丧失了话语权和主导权。隔代溺爱导致轻老重幼,孝善观念淡化,子女对父母尽孝变得功利化和理性化。在推进乡村振兴过程中,要通过社会福利制度和孝道监督,增加孝道收益和不孝行为成本,把孝善文化融入现代乡村生活,引导村民自觉践行孝道,积极主动孝老爱亲,积极传承乡村孝善文化,推进易风易俗建设,培养乡村文明,用优良家风提升家庭文化和社会道德水平。
