The acid number of the mixed solution of 150SN oil and oleic acid characterizes the volume content of oleic acid in the solution, based on which the adsorptive capability of oleic acid is studied on the 45 steel balls and disks. Boundary lubrication tests are carried out on a self designed ball-on-disk machine, The base oil is pure 150SN oil, and oleic acid as additive are added into the lubricant. Disks have surface roughness values (Ra) of 0.8 μn and 0.4 μn. The electrical contact resistance method is used to determine the lubrication status. Hypothesize that the molecular film is monomolecular layer in condensed state and the opposing surfaces are completely separated by molecular film. A boundary lubrication model is established according to experimental results and hypothesizes. The experimental and calculatienal results show that the adsorption of polar molecules on steel surface is the main factor to form the boundary lubrication film. Load and sliding speed contribute little to the friction coefficient of boundary lubrication. The properties of steel surface and additive for the lubricant significantly influence on the characters of boundary lubrication. The smaller the surface roughness value is, the smaller the friction coefficient of the boundary lubrication is. 展开更多

We established a model for investigating polycrystalline silicon(poly-Si) thin film transistors(TFTs).The effect of grain boundaries(GBs) on the transfer characteristics of TFT was analyzed by considering the number and the width of grain boundaries in the channel region,and the dominant transport mechanism of carrier across grain boundaries was subsequently determined.It is shown that the thermionic emission(TE) is dominant in the subthreshold operating region of TFT regardless of the number and the width of grain boundary.To a poly-Si TFT model with a 1 nm-width grain boundary,in the linear region,thermionic emission is similar to that of tunneling(TU),however,with increasing grain boundary width and number,tunneling becomes dominant. 展开更多

Properties of anti... Neodymium dialkylthiophosphate (NdDDP) with alkyls of isopropyl and isooctyl were synthesized by exchanged reaction respectively. The structures of the two NdDDPs were determined using IR and XRD. Properties of anti-wear and friction-reducing of the two additives were investigated with four ball experiment and the commercial anti-wear additive ZDDP was selected as control. The elemental analysis of the wear scars after 10 s friction at low stress were investigated by EDXA (Energy Dispersion Analysis of X-ray). Primary results showed that the NdDDPs possess better lubrication ability than ZDDP. This might mainly be contributed to the formation of a boundary film containing Nd2O3, FeS and sulphate, phosphate, organo-sulfide, etc., and a neodymium-rich diffused layer which changes the crystal structure of the surface of friction materials. 展开更多

A kind of novel compound containing S and Mo elements was synthesized. Its chemical structure was characterized by elemental analysis, IR and 3MR. hs anti-wear property and the load-carrying capacity, as an extreme pressure (EP) additive of lubricating oil, were investigated using a four-bull tester. The experimentul results show that the additive exhibits a superior anti-wear property and a high load-carrying capacity . The presence of other additives does not interfere with the anti-wear prnperty of the extreme pressure additive. The influences of load and temperature on the propert) of the additive were examined. The possible mechanism uas investigated by means of sufface analysis of the tested steel ball specimen , using XPS. The lubricatian films formed on the rubbing surface are mainly composed of MoS2, MoO3 and MoO2. 展开更多

Intergranular stress corrosion cracking (ISCC) of α-brass in neutral Mattsson's solution was found to be controlled by an unusual 'W'-shaped galvanic cell whose cathode is the grain boundary oxide film (G.B.0. film) and surface film and the anode is fresh metal at the cracked tip on both sides of the G.B.0. film. Redox reactions involved in the cell have been proposed here. According to this mdel, initidtion of ISCC is caused by the rupturing of surface film along grain boundaries, thus forming a galvanic cell. Propagation of ISCC resulted from alternate advances of G.B.0. film and dissolution on both sides of G.B.0. film caused by the effect of electrochemical reaction. This work developed an effective approach to investigate the embrittlement process at the tip of the crack, by increasing the length of the embrittlement region through constant strain test and distinguishing the morphology and the nature of the corrosion products by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEH). 展开更多

We account for the interface's imp... A new approach for exploring effects of interfaces on polar liquids is presented. Their impact on the polar liquid film motor(PLFM) – a novel micro-fluidic device – is studied. We account for the interface's impact by modeling slip boundary effects on the PLFM's electro-hydro-dynamical rotations. Our analytical results show as k = l_s/R increases(with ls denoting the slip length resulting from the interface's impact on the film's properties, k >-1 and R denoting the film's radius):(a) PLFMs subsequently exhibit rotation characteristics under "negative-", "no-", "partial-" and"perfect-" slip boundary conditions;(b) The maximum value of the linear velocity of the steady rotating film increases linearly and its location approaches the film's border;(c) The decay of the angular velocities' dependency on the distance from the center of the film slows down, resulting in a macroscopic flow near the boundary. With our calculated rotation speed distributions consistent with the existing experimental ones, research aiming at fitting computed to measured distributions promises identifying the factors affecting ls, e.g., solid-fluid potential interactions and surface roughness.The consistency also is advantageous for optimizing PLFM's applications as micro-washers, centrifuges, mixers in the lab-on-a-chip. 展开更多
