However, the optical response of current metamaterials is fixed and lacks active tuning. In this work, we demonstrate a reconfigurable and polarization-dependent active color generation technique by incorporating low-loss phase change materials(PCMs) and CaF_2 all-dielectric substrate. Based on the strong Mie resonance effect and low optical absorption structure, a transflective, full-color with high color purity and gamut value is achieved. The spectrum can be dynamically manipulated by changing either the polarization of incident light or the PCM state. High transmittance and reflectance can be simultaneously achieved by using low-loss PCMs and substrate. The novel active metasurfaces can bring new inspiration in the areas of optical encryption, anti-counterfeiting, and display technologies.展开更多

The designed BPF is composed of a metal-dielectric-metal sandwiched structure with three nested rings on the top surface and a cross structure on the bottom surface. Full-wave simulation results show that the designed BPF has three transmission peaks at frequencies of 0.42, 1.27, and 1.86 THz with transmission rates of-0.87,-1.85, and-1.83 dB, respectively. The unit cell of the filter contains an inner aluminum circle and an outside aluminum Ohm-ring on high resistance silicon substrate. The performance of the filter is simulated by finite-integration-time-domain(FITD) method. The sample is fabricated using a surface micromachining process and experimentally demonstrated using a THz time-domain-spectroscopy(TDS) system. The results show that, when the incident THz wave is polarized in y-axis, the filter has two intensive absorption peaks locating at 0.71 THz and 1.13 THz, respectively. The position of the high-frequency absorption peak and the amplitude of the low-frequency absorption peak can be simultaneously tuned by rotating the sample along its normal axis. The tunability of the high-frequency absorption peak is due to the shift of resonance frequency of two electrical dipoles, and that of the low-frequency absorption peak results from the effect of rotationally induced transparent. This tunable filter is very useful for switch, manipulation, and frequency selective detection of THz beam.展开更多

The combination of carbon nanotubes and alumina nanosheets additives leads to in situ formation of Al3 CON. Both the nanoscaled additives as well as the extra alumina “active”coating lead to improved mechanical performance of the carbon bonded filters and open the horizon for filter macrostructures with higher filtration capacities in means of bigger dimensions. In a further step MWCNT( multi walled carbon nanotubes) in combination with a synthetic pitch have been used as a functional coating on the surface of alumina carbon bonded filters. These filters have then been evaluated also with uncoated filters in a special casting simulator and the interactions between steel and filtering material have been investigated.展开更多

This paper discusses an influencing factor, water-filter ratio (soaking solution and filter quality ratio), on leachable dissolution rate and filter material degradation rate m high temperature water. The UV absorption at 254nm (A254) and the exchange capacity ware measured after heat test as composite indicators. In addition, the Wends of A254 variation with heating time were measured in different water-filter ratio. The stability is probably due to the effect of water-filter ratio. This has been further borne out that, water-filter ratio increases, leachable concentration decreases exponentially and tends to a fLxed value.展开更多

The proposed structure consists of periodically arranged composite air holes, and exhibits two broad and flat transmission bands. To clarify the effects of the structural parameters on both resonant transmission bands, three sets of experiments are performed. The first resonant transmission band shows a shift towards higher frequency when the side width w;of the main air hole is increased. In contrast, the second resonant transmission band displays a shift towards lower frequency when the side width w;of the sub-holes is increased, while the first resonant transmission band is unchanged. The measured results indicate that these resonant bands can be modulated individually by simply optimizing the relevant structural parameters(w;or w;) for the required band. In addition, these resonant bands merge into a single resonant band with a bandwidth of 7.7 THz when w;and w;are optimized simultaneously. The structure proposed in this paper adopts different resonant mechanisms for transmission at different frequencies and thus offers a method to achieve a dual-band and low-loss filter.展开更多

By using plane wave simulation, we demonstrated that the central frequency( f0) of the proposed filter can shift from 5.04 THz to 5.71 THz; this shift is accompanied by a 3 dB bandwidth( f) decrease from 1.82 THz to 0.01 THz as the EFincreases from 0 to 0.75 eV.Additionally, in order to select a suitable control equation for the proposed filter, the curves of f and f0 under different graphene EFwere fitted using five different mathematical models. The fitting results demonstrate that the Dose Resp model offers accurate predictions of the change in the 3 dB bandwidth, and the Quartic model can successfully describe the variation in the center frequency of the proposed filter. Moreover, the electric field and current density analyses show that the dynamic tuning property of the proposed filter is mainly caused by the competition of two coupling effects at different graphene EF, i.e., graphene-polyimide coupling and graphene-metal coupling. This study shows that the proposed structures are promising for realizing dynamically tunable filters in innovative THz communication systems.展开更多

The inocula contained the activated sludge and toluene degrading bacteria, and the packing material consisted of different mixing ratios of peat and wood chips. A final toluene load of 21.2 g/(m3·h) was attained step by step in four parallel biofilters. A shortest start-up time of 15 days and a highest EC of 17.0 g/(m3·h) were observed in the biofilter B-4, which was inoculated with a special microbial consortium consisting of three strains of toluene degrading bacteria and was packed with the mixture of peat and wood chips at a ratio of 80:20 (w/w). These results indicated that inoculating pre-acclimatized microbes dramatically shortened the start-up time, and such a composition of packing material could maintain an appropriate environment (with the bed porosity and water content equating to 0.45 and 1.96, respectively) for the growth of dominant toluene degrading bacteria in the biofilter.展开更多

文摘We experimentally demonstrate a mechanically tunable metamaterials terahertz(THz) dual-band bandstop filter. This tunable filter is very useful for switch, manipulation, and frequency selective detection of THz beam.
文摘For ceramic filtering materials, their adsorption capacities, purification efficiencies to remove organic compounds from drinking water, and correlation between adsorption capacities and pore structures were tested and analyzed. The results show that correlation coefficient between the specific surface area and the adsorptive amount of iodine molecule is 0.99; correlation coefficient between the pore volume and the adsorptive value of tannin molecule is 0.92, and correlation coefficient between the most probable diameter and the adsorption parameter is 1.0. A new method of morphology characterization for ceramic filtering materials was developed, which offered a sort of standard for the evaluation on water purification efficiencies and selection of ceramic filtering materials.

文摘New carbon bonded filters with “active and reactive coatings ” for higher filtration efficiency of alumina based inclusions as well as nano-engineered filters with nano-scaled additives are explored with the aid of impingement tests and are evaluated according to their cold crushing strengths at room temperature. These filters have then been evaluated also with uncoated filters in a special casting simulator and the interactions between steel and filtering material have been investigated.
文摘In air-cooled condenser, high temperature condensing water m summer which approaching and exceed 60* C, which may result in filter materials degradation and release impurities. This has been further borne out that, water-filter ratio increases, leachable concentration decreases exponentially and tends to a fLxed value.

文摘In this paper, we present the design, simulation, and experimental verification of a dual-band free-standing metamaterial filter operating in a frequency range of 1 THz–30 THz. The structure proposed in this paper adopts different resonant mechanisms for transmission at different frequencies and thus offers a method to achieve a dual-band and low-loss filter.

文摘The dynamic tunability of a terahertz(THz) passband filter was realized by changing the Fermi energy(EF) of graphene based on the sandwiched structure of metal-graphene-metal metamaterials(MGMs). This study shows that the proposed structures are promising for realizing dynamically tunable filters in innovative THz communication systems.

文摘Several strategies with different combination of inocula and packing material were investigated to obtain the optimal start-up time and elimination capacity (EC) in toluene biofiltration. These results indicated that inoculating pre-acclimatized microbes dramatically shortened the start-up time, and such a composition of packing material could maintain an appropriate environment (with the bed porosity and water content equating to 0.45 and 1.96, respectively) for the growth of dominant toluene degrading bacteria in the biofilter.
