The quality of included studies was assessed by another two reviewers using a standardized form and evaluated by using the Cochrane Collaboration’s risk of bias tool. The self-directed learning scores(continuous outcomes) were analyzed by using the 95% confidence intervals(Cls) with the standard deviation average(SMD) or weighted mean difference(WMD). The heterogeneity was assessed using Cochran’s I;statistic. Results: A total of 12 studies, which encompassed 1440 nursing students(intervention group = 685, control group = 755), were eligible for inclusion in this review. Of 12 included studies, the quality level of one included study was A and of the others was B. The pooled effect size showed that compared with traditional teaching models, the FC could improve nursing students’ selfdirected learning skill, as measured by the Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale(SDLRS), Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale for Nursing Education(SDLRSNE), Self-Regulated Learning Scale(SRL), Autonomous Learning Competencies scale(ALC), and Competencies of Autonomous Learning of Nursing Students(CALNS). Overall scores and subgroup analyses with the SRL were all in favor of the FC.Conclusions: The result of this meta-analysis indicated that FCs could improve the effect of self-directed learning in nursing education.Future studies with more RCTs using the same measurement tools are needed to draw more authoritative conclusions.展开更多

Flipped classroom(FC) and problem-based learning(PBL) are well-known education methods that can be integrated into ophthalmology education to improve students' competence level and promote active learning. Methods: We used a mixed teaching methodology that integrated a FC and PBL into a 1-week ophthalmology clerkship for 72 fourth-year medical students. The course includes two major sessions: FC session and PBL session, relying on clinical and real-patient cases. Written examinations were set up to assess students' academic performance and questionnaires were designed to evaluate their perceptions. Results: The post-course examination results were higher than the pre-course results, and many students gained ophthalmic knowledge and learning skills to varying levels. Comparison of pre-and post-course questionnaires indicated that interests in ophthalmology increased and more students expressed desires to be eye doctors. Most students were satisfied with the new method, while some suggested the process should be slower and the communication with their teacher needed to strengthen. Conclusions: FC and PBL are complementary methodologies. Utilizing the mixed teaching meth of FC and PBL was successful in enhancing academic performance, student satisfactions and promoting active learning.展开更多

These two methods also help minimize the dependency on face-to-face lecture and make the class time more creative and effective. This study is the very first attempt of implementing these strategies in Bangladesh. It explores the prospect of JiTT and flipped classroom at tertiary level in Bangladesh. In the first part of this paper, recent studies on JiTT and flipped classroom are discussed to shed light on their effectiveness and problems. The latter part explains the data and research findings. Before collecting the data, JiTT and flipped classroom were used with 33 students of undergraduate level who were students of"ELT Methodology" course. After the implementation of the methods, a questionnaire survey was conducted to collect data regarding their response to these two methods. The study reveals that JiTT and flipped classroom help cover more topics in a short time while enhancing students' interaction and participation. They make students come to the class prepared and reflect on their learning. Teachers can understand students need better and provide required feedback. The overall interaction among students and teachers can be improved using JiTT and flipped classroom since everyone is clear about each other's existing knowledge and learning objectives.展开更多

As many new teaching models are emerging, the network course education represented by flipped classroomand MOOC education are increasingly attracting the attention of all walks of life with its unique advantages. The teaching of Eng-lish reading is a key point in College English education. However, the reality of College English reading education is not satisfacto-ry due to certain factors. This paper aims to discuss the implication of flipped classroom mode in college English reading teaching, hoping to provide references for the relevant parties.
文摘Objectives: To examine the best practice evidence of the effectiveness of the flipped classroom(FC) as a burgeoning teaching model on the development of self-directed learning in nursing education.Data sources: The relevant randomized controlled trial(RCT) and non-RCT comparative studies were searched from multiple electronic databases including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature(CINAHL), Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials(CENTRAL), Wanfang Data, China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI), and Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database(VIP) from inception to June 2017.Review methods: The data were independently assessed and extracted for eligibility by two reviewers. Overall scores and subgroup analyses with the SRL were all in favor of the FC.Conclusions: The result of this meta-analysis indicated that FCs could improve the effect of self-directed learning in nursing education.Future studies with more RCTs using the same measurement tools are needed to draw more authoritative conclusions.
文摘In reality, the flipped classroom has gained popularity as a modern way of structuring teaching, where lectures move from in-class procedures to digitally-based assignments, freeing up the debate, and practice exercises class time. Therefore,it is essential to implement and analyze a way of teaching that will improve student performance. The paper aims to develop a model of the method of teaching science in Iraqi schools, and to assess whether teaching flipped classroom affects the achievement, motivation, and creative thinking of students by using the methodology of Multi-Criteria Decision Making(MCDM)in the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP).The AHP approach includes several steps, including setting assessment criteria and their weights, and by assessing the methodology of the flipped classroom as compared to the conventional cognitive learning process. An experiment was carried out in Iraqi secondary schools to examine the attitude of the students towards the subject of Chemistry. The findings have indicated that the students and teachers favored flipped classroom learning more than conventional cognitive learning. The study took the following parameters compared to the traditional approach:teaching techniques, learning flexibility, teaching aids effectiveness, student participation and working environment. This paper indicates that the teachers in Iraqi schools will be able to improve and do more preparation to shift towards flipped learning in the classroom.

文摘Background: Ophthalmology is an important medical science subject, but it is given with insufficient attention in undergraduate medical education. Utilizing the mixed teaching meth of FC and PBL was successful in enhancing academic performance, student satisfactions and promoting active learning.

文摘Background:The“flipped classroom”is a learner-centered approach that centers on delivering videos, podcasts or slide-based material to learners prior to a lecture or class session. The class session is then dedicated to discussion, analysis, and problem-solving activities. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the flipped classroom could be adapted to medical(ophthalmology)students learning about ocular trauma and to assess the impact of the flipped classroom on those students’performance and attitudes. Methods:Questionnaires(using a 4-point scale)were distributed to 93 fifth-year medical students at Sun Yat-sen University, and the data showed that the majority of students preferred the flipped classroom approach to the traditional lecture method. Results:The results of pre-and post-test scores were 14.35±3.404 and 20.37±4.356,which showed a significant improvement in students’performance after the flipped classroom was introduced(P<0.05).Conclusions:Student response to the flipped classroom strategy was largely positive, indicating that the strategy received a high level of approval in an ophthalmology clerkship course taken by medical students in China.
文摘JiTT (Just-in-Time Teaching) and flipped classroom are two innovations in academia where high-tech and no-tech resources are blended to encourage more interaction and creativity among students. The overall interaction among students and teachers can be improved using JiTT and flipped classroom since everyone is clear about each other's existing knowledge and learning objectives.
