Through linear stability analysis, the neutral stability lines and the critical points are obtained for the different types of car following models and two modified models. The singular perturbation method has been used to derive various nonlinear wave equations, such as the Kortewegde-Vries (KdV) equation and the modified Korteweg-de-Vries (mKdV) equation, which could describe different density waves occurring in traffic flows under certain conditions. These density waves are mainly employed to depict the formation of traffic jams in the congested traffic flow. The general soliton solutions are given for the different types of car following models, and the results have been used to the modified models efficiently.展开更多

Once the uncertainty causes line power to exceed its limit, line overload will occur. The paper presents the risk control of transmission line overload for windintegrated power systems. Firstly, a risk control model of line overload is proposed considering the uncertainties of loads, generator outputs and wind powers. The generation cost and security level of system associated with overload can be optimally controlled. Then path following interior point method is employed to carry out the optimal control. Finally the simulation is made on the modified IEEE-30 bus system. Results show that the risk of line overload is effectively reduced through the optimization of control variables.展开更多

To solve the governing equations more efficiently, we improve the alternating direction implicit method, which is extensively used in the numerical modeling of horizontal two-dimensional shallow water equations, and extend it to a three-dimensional tidal model with relatively little computational effort. Through several test cases and realistic applications, as presented in the paper, it can be demonstrated that the model is capable of simulating the periodic to-and-fro currents, wind-driven flow, Ekman spirals, and tidal currents in the near-shore region.展开更多
