Actually, it is an effective learning strategy to complete the communication task under the help of native language, which should be acknowledged. Using native language to explain specific words or grammar rules can take advantage of the limited class-time efficiently and increase the class efficiency; using native language to discuss teaching method and solve the problems for the students can promote their enthusiasm. In these specific teaching processes, native language is an important teaching resource. Instances identify that native language has positive effects in the foreign language learning and teaching and it should have its own standpoint.

Implicit Learning and Explicit Learning in the Context of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language By Analyzing the Textbook Kuaile Hanyu

With the rising status of China in the world in the economic, political and cultural aspects, Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language （TCFL） is becoming more and more prevalent across the world. Britain is the country where the Chinese is taught and learnt earlier than other Western countries. Take the students in Confucius Institute of Newcastle University in UK for example, due to the students＇ different backgrounds and also different ages and language foundations, whether the Chinese teaching materials can meet their motivations and needs is a problem worth further investigation by Chinese language teachers. Therefore, concerning the leamers＇ different ages and cognitive ability, this paper aims to analyze the textbook named Kuaile Hanyu （Happy Chinese） in terms of its advantages and disadvantages, in hope to evaluate whether it is appropriate to different learners and propose a few suggestions for the Chinese materials in the future. Simultaneously, fi＇om perspective of implicit learning and explicit learning, a tentative study is carried out on the influence of implicit and explicit leaming in TCFL context.

A Study of Students’Informal Digital Learning of Foreign Language in the Context of Digital Transformation of Vocational Education

Against the backdrop of the digital transformation of vocational education,informal digital learning of foreign language(hereinafter referred to as IDLFL)is an emerging learning model with significant potential for enabling individualized and autonomous learning and improving workplace English proficiency among Higher Vocational Colleges(hereinafter referred to as HVC)students.This study explores how Chinese foreign language teachers in HVC perceive and understand HVC students’IDLFL.Primary data are collected through questionnaires and interviews,and qualitative analysis is conducted based on grounded theory to reveal effective ways to improve the foreign language learning outcomes of HVC students through IDLFL and the corresponding strategies that HVC language teachers should adopt.However,this study also emphasizes the need to be wary of overstating the impact and role of IDLFL in teaching practice.

Blended Learning in a Foreign Language Teaching

Foreign language classes using blended learning take place in a classroom and on an educational platform （i.e., Moodle）. Secondary Chilean EFL Learners' Attitudes Toward English Language Learning, the English Language Itself, and the L2 Community

During the last three decades, attitudes have played a major role in second/foreign language learning research. Scholars have found that a more positive attitude towards the target language improves second/foreign language learning. In order to contribute to this area of research, this study focuses on Chilean EFL learners with different proficiency levels (i.e., beginner, intermediate, and advanced) and their attitudes toward learning English, the English language itself, and the L2 community. By gathering data through a questionnaire and analysing it using SPSS, significant differences were found among the learners' groups, and their attitudes toward English. These findings will be discussed further in this study together with previous research.

This thesis critically examines the effectiveness of Duolingo as a language learning platform.Duolingo is one of the most popular language learning platforms online worldwide that offers language teaching in a free and fun way on mobile apps.It serves as a provider for autonomous learning,namely allowing users to learn languages independently,and is used by language learners of all levels who want to be multi-lingual,or who have the need to learn a foreign language in time for academic or social requirements,and so on.Meanwhile,the effectiveness of teaching method offered on Duolingo has been overestimated,and many problems during learning are ignored.The study methods in the thesis are content study method and contrast study method.The problems will be demonstrated by analysis of the content of Duolingo in many aspects and comparison of another well-known platform called“Innovative Language Learning”.This thesis aims to analyze the downsides of Duolingo in regard to foreign language learning in many aspects in both comprehensive and detailed way,and point out suggestions and solutions for improvement.
