Behavior analysis and formative assessments in online oral medicine education during the COVID-19 pandemic

BACKGROUND During the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,traditional teaching methods were disrupted and online teaching became a new topic in education reform and informatization.In this context,it is important to investigate the necessity and effectiveness of online teaching methods for medical students.This study explored stomatology education in China to evaluate the development and challenges facing the field using massive open online courses(MOOCs)for oral medicine education during the pandemic.AIM To investigate the current situation and challenges facing stomatology education in China,and to assess the necessity and effectiveness of online teaching methods among medical students.METHODS Online courses were developed and offered on personal computers and mobile terminals.Behavioral analysis and formative assessments were conducted to evaluate the learning status of students.RESULTS The results showed that most learners had already completed MOOCs and achieved better results.Course behavior analysis and student surveys indicated that students enjoyed the learning experience.However,the development of oral MOOCs during the COVID-19 pandemic faced significant challenges.CONCLUSION This study provides insights into the potential of using MOOCs to support online professional learning and future teaching innovation,but emphasizes the need for careful design and positive feedback to ensure their success.

Formative Evaluation of English in Vocational Colleges from a Humanistic Perspective

The existing summative evaluation method cannot reveal all the relevant facts about students’learning,potentially leading students to only pay attention to memorizing fragmented language knowledge instead of improving their communicative competence.Therefore,the formative evaluation method should be used to supplement the current summative evaluation method in College English teaching in vocational institutes.When using formative evaluation,plans and objectives need to be designed,tools for evaluation selected,information collected regularly,and plans adjusted accordingly.

A Study on the Correlation between Second Language Learning Motivation and Formative Assessment

This paper explores the relationship between motivation and assessment and find out the assessment strategies which could motivate students better in L2 learning based on the data and responses collected from 30 non-English majors in a regional university. The data and responses revealed that formative assessment could motivate students better, especially during the process of English learning. It also revealed some problems existing in the assessment strategies implemented in this study, such as the impartiality of peer-assessment and the poor efficiency of group work.

Formative Assessment and English Learning Strategies——An experiment on teaching vocational college English

The study mainly focuses on the influence of formative assessment upon learning strategies. So as to testify the effectiveness of formative assessment application in the promotion of students' learning strategy in vocational college, the author has conducted a 20-week study on 76 freshmen in Sichuan College of Architectural Technology. The result shows that the application of formative assessment is mostly effective in the students' adoption of affective strategy.

Formative assessment of language learning strategies

This article attempts to integrate language learning strategies into the theory and practice of formative assessment. It is argued that learners’ current language problems might have been a result of their strategic learning problems. As such, diagnosing the potential problems in language learning strategies and providing support in strategic learning(the ‘how’ of learning) will not only help locate the possible causes of language deficiencies but also help learners close the linguistic gap(the ‘what’ of learning). The article also illustrates how language learning strategies can be assessed formatively. Next, two implementation issues, the teacher’s pedagogical content knowledge and student engagement after assessment feedback, are highlighted for discussion.

Building a Sustainable Learning Cycle:The Role of‘the Formative Use of Summative Tests’(FUST)in Promoting Students’Developments

The study employed a descriptive mixed-methods qualitative case study approach.Material and interview-based data were collected from two EFL classes in a private international school in central China.Findings from RQ1 suggest that teacher-made summative tests were largely dependable to the extent that the tests reflect the syllabus-based construct and address students’affective factors.Findings from RQ2 suggest that facilitating factors including in-school continuous professional development(CPD)and teacher collegiality practices may enhance FUST’s prospective role.

GEOLOGICAL FEATURES AND FORMATIVE MECHANISM OF THE YULONG PORPHYRY COPPER BELT OF INTRACONTINENTAL REJUVENATED PLATFORM TYPE IN CHINA

Extending in a NNW-SSE direction. the Yulong porphyry copper belt is the largest and richest porphyry copper belt in China, originating in the Paleogene. Tectonically located on the eastern margin of the northern Tibet geodepression. and nearly 500 km of the Himalayan Yarlung Zangbo plate subduction zone of nearly E-W trend. it is a relatively typical intracontinental rejuvenated platform-type porphyry copper belt. Ore-bearing porphyry masses in the belt mainly represented by monzogranite-porphyry occurring as stocks in variegated sandshale of the lower Upper Triassic Jiapila Fromation and its overlying and underlying copper-bearing strata. They are characterized by enrichment in K. CI and LREE. abundant fluid inclusions and a distinct porphyroblastic texture. The oxygen. hydrogen. strotium. lead and sulfur isotopic values of the rock show the feature of crust-mantle mixing.The Orebodies are plpe-shaped stratoid; the mineralization is dominated by Cu and Mo, accompanied by Fe. Co. Au. Ag. Bi. W. Pb. Zn. and Pt-group elements. Alteration is strong. marked mainly by potassic alteration, silicification. skarnization and propylitization. The formation of this type of deposit largely progressed through two stages. The first stage was the stage of formation of Cu-bearing source beds. It occurred in the Triassic. when a transgressive copper-bearing formation was deposited on the western margin of the Qamdo Bay. which was represented by intermediate-acid volcanic rocks and variegated sandshale in the lower part. dolomitic carbonate rocks in the middle and black carbonaceous sandshale in the upper part. In the second stage. composite porphyry copper deposits were formed. This stage took place in the Paleogene. when this district was in a stage of platform rejuvenation. forming a series of NNW-trending deep faults. so that Na, K. Cl. H2O and CO2-rich hydrothermal fluids from the depths were injected into the upper crust and replaced and melted copper-bearing sialic rocks of the upper crust. e. g. the Triassic copper-bearing rock series in the Yulong area. to form porphyroblastic cooper-bearing intermediate-acid porphyry.
