However,few studies have addressed the mechanism by which elevated CO_2 may affect the growth of medicinal plants. Isatis indigotica Fortune is a widely used Chinese medicinal herb with multiple pharmacological properties. To investigate the physiological mechanism of I.indigotica response to elevated [CO_2], plants were grown at either ambient [CO_2](385 μmol mol^(-1)) or elevated [CO_2] (590 μmol mol^(-1)) in an open-top chamber (OTC)experimental facility in North China. A significant reduction in transpiration rate (T_r) and stomatal conductance (g_s) and a large increase in water-use efficiency contributed to an increase in net photosynthetic rate (Pn) under elevated [CO_2] 76 days after sowing. Leaf non-photochemical quenching (NPQ) was decreased, so that more energy was used in effective quantum yield of PSII photochemistry (Φ_(PSⅡ)) under elevated [CO_2]. High ΦPSII,meaning high electron transfer efficiency, also increased Pn. The [CO_2]-induced increase in photosynthesis significantly increased biomass by 36.8%. Amounts of metabolic compounds involved in sucrose metabolism, pyrimidine metabolism, flavonoid biosynthesis, and other processes in leaves were reduced under elevated [CO_2]. These results showed that the fertilization effect of elevated [CO_2] is conducive to increasing dry weight but not secondary metabolism in I. indigotica.展开更多

The chemical constituents of the essential oil of Euonymus fortune from different areas were compared and analyzed by GC-MS.The results showed that 25 chromatographic peaks were separated and 13 chemical constituents ...The chemical constituents of the essential oil of Euonymus fortune from different areas were compared and analyzed by GC-MS.The results showed that 25 chromatographic peaks were separated and 13 chemical constituents were identified in Binyang County,Nanning City,accounting for 97.25%of the total volatile oil.Twenty nine chromatographic peaks were separated from Rong’an County,Liuzhou City,and 14 chemical constituents were identified,accounting for 89.91%of the total volatile oil.Thirty two chromatographic peaks were separated from Mengshan County,Wuzhou City,and 12 chemical constituents were identified,accounting for 92.16%of the total volatile oil.Twenty eight chromatographic peaks were separated from Rong County,Yulin City,and 11 chemical constituents were identified,accounting for 84.79%of the total volatile oil.Five of the chemical constituents of the volatile oil from the three places of origin are common to the four.They are phytol,palmitic acid,n-nonane,cumene,hexahydrofarnesyl acetone.It can be seen that the main components of volatile oil from different producing areas are different.展开更多

Despite Six Sigma popularity, some companies have failed to gain quantifiable net financial benefits/results from Six Sigma implementation. In the process of Six Sigma implementation, vital components are critical factors and key ingredients for the success of Six Sigma projects because if these vital components do not exist, Six Sigma projects have little chance of success. Thus, this paper identifies most influencing and least influencing vital components. The results are generated from a survey conducted in U.S. Fortune 500 companies employing descriptive statistics. Based on the data analysis, ＂leadership commitment to Six Sigma＂ was the most influencing vital component and ＂overall, training on Six Sigma to reduce employee turnover＂ was the least influencing vital component.展开更多

The United nations guiding Principles on Business and human Rights requires enterprises to formulate human Rights policies and specify criteria for content and form to fulfill their responsibilities in this area.Resea...The United nations guiding Principles on Business and human Rights requires enterprises to formulate human Rights policies and specify criteria for content and form to fulfill their responsibilities in this area.Research into the human rights policies enacted by the Fortune global 500 enterprises in 2021 reveals aclearl trend and the great practical and theoretical significance of enterprises’human rights policies can be identified.In practice,the widespread application of international human rights norms to enterprises’human rights policies is becoming a universal corporate practice that incorporates both formulation and implementation mechanisms,but there are distinct differences in the application of international human rights norms by enterprises from different countries and industries.Meanwhile,the trend in applying these enterprises’human rights policies reveals a key theoretical significance,i.e.,the trend toward the privatization of human rights norms is breaking away from the theoretical basis of“public law”in the traditional international human rights law.The social norms,including international guidelines and industry norms,are being transformed into“hard law”;and the effect of domestic legislation on enterprises’responsibilities in human rights in other countries transcends national borders and suggests new theoretical possibilities for the extraterritorial extension of a country’s legal will.While enterprises’human rights policies may have become customary rules for international business,there are still many limitations and challenges to their application,which may also pose limitations to their practical effects and theoretical significance.Recommendations are made in the hope that the Chinese government and enterprises will pay attention to the significance of enterprises’human rights policies and improve their understanding and application of the policies to promote global human rights governance in a more equitable,just,reasonable,and inclusive direction.展开更多
