Taking the values of Su from laboratory tests as references, several existing Su-predicted methods based on CPTu are compared and evaluated. To verify the presented cone factor Nk, additional test sites are selected and examined. The results show that the values of cone factors such as Nkt, Nke, and Nau, depend on the shear test mode and disturbance. Generally, the values of Nke show more scattering than those of Nkt and N△u. For the stratified and layered sediments of the Yangtze River floodplain, it is recommended using the net cone resistance qT to estimate Su and the preliminary cone factor values Nkt are from 7 to 16, with an average of 11. It is also confirmed that the CPTu test, as a new technique in site characterization, can present reasonable parameters for bridge foundations.展开更多

However, “punch through' failure often occurs where a stronger soil layer overlays a softer soil layer. In this study, spudcan penetration into double layered soils is investigated numerically. The soil profile is set up as a stronger soil layer overlaying a softer soil layer, with the soil strength ratio (bottom soil strength / top soil strength) varied from 0.1 to 1.0 (1 means uniform soil). The bearing behaviour is discussed and the bearing capacity factors are given for various cases involving different layer thicknesses and different strength ratios of the two clay layers. The development of the plastic zones and the effect of soil self-weight on the bearing capacity are also discussed. From this study, it is found that, when a spudcan is distant from the soil layer boundary, the spudcan can be analysed with single soil layer data. However, when a spudcan becomes closer to the soil boundary layer, the influence of the lower soft soil layer is significant, and the bearing capacity of the spudcan decreases. The critical distance is an indication of the occurrence of “punch through' failure. The critical distance between the spudcan and the layer boundary is larger for a rough spudcan than the one for a smooth one, and the critical distance decreases with increasing soil strength ratio. The depth of cavity formed during initial spudcan penetration depends on the top layer soil strength, soil strength ratio and unit soil self-weight, and the cavity affects the spudcan bearing behaviour as well.展开更多

Due to the changing permeability property of CFG piles, the whole consolidation process of the composite ground with CFG piles was divided into two stages, i.e., the early stage(permeable CFG pile bodies) and the later stage(impermeable pile bodies). Then, the consolidation equation of the composite foundation with CFG piles was established by using the Terzaghi one-dimensional consolidation theory. Consequently, the unified formula to calculate the excess pore water pressure was derived with the specific solutions for the consolidation degree of composite ground, reinforced area and underlying stratum under instant load obtained respectively. Finally, combined with a numerical example, influencing rules by main factors(including the replacement rate m, the treatment depth h1, the permeability coefficient Ks1, Kv2 and compression modulus Es1, Es2 of reinforced area and underlying stratum) on the consolidation property of composite ground with CFG piles were discussed in detail. The result shows that the consolidation velocity of underlying stratum is slower than that of the reinforced area. However, the consolidation velocity of underlying stratum is slow at first then fast as a result of the transferring of effective stress to the underlying stratum during the dissipating process of excess pore water pressure.展开更多

The relations of horizontal and vertical bearing capacities of the box foundation structure as well as the instability induced failure modes to its dimensions and external loads are discussed through static model tests and wave tests. The mechanical properties of the stability of the box foundation are similar to those of embedded rigid foundations, i.e. the vertical stresses at the bottom of the box are distributed in a linear pattern under the action of vertical loads, and passive and active soil pressures are developed at the front and back sides of the box under the action of horizontal loads; there are two instability induced failure modes of the foundation structure-horizontal slide along the box base and tilting due to insufficient local vertical bearing capacity of the soil beneath the box base. The stability of box foundations can be analyzed by use of the methods applied to analysis of the embedded rigid foundations. 文摘Optical multilayer thin film structures have been widely used in numerous photonic applications. However, existing inverse design methods have many drawbacks because they either fail to quickly adapt to different design targets,or are difficult to suit for different types of structures,e.g.,designing for different materials at each layer. These methods also cannot accommodate versatile design situations under different angles and polarizations. In addition, how to benefit practical fabrications and manufacturing has not been extensively considered yet.In this work,we introduce OptoGPT(Opto Generative Pretrained Transformer),a decoder-only transformer,to solve all these drawbacks and issues simultaneously.

文摘During the self-weight penetration process of the suction foundation on the dense sand seabed, due to the shallow penetration depth, the excess seepage seawater from the outside to the inside of the foundation may cause the negative pressure penetration process failure.Increasing the self-weight penetration depth has become an important problem for the safe construction of the suction foundation. The new suction anchor foundation has been proposed, and the self-weight penetration characteristics of the traditional suction foundation and the new suction anchor foundation are studied and compared through laboratory experiments and analysis. For the above two foundation types,by considering five foundation diameters and two bottom shapes,20 models are tested with the same penetration energy. The effects of different foundation diameters on the penetration depth, the soil plug characteristics, and the surrounding sand layer are studied. The results show that the penetration depth of the new suction foundation is smaller than that of the traditional suction foundation. With the same penetration energy, the penetration depth of the suction foundation becomes shallower as the diameter increases. The smaller the diameter of the suction foundation, the more likely it is to be fully plugged, and the smaller the height of the soil plug will be.In the stage of self-weight penetration, the impact cavity appears around the foundation, which may affect the stability of the suction foundation.

文摘Suction foundations are generally installed with negative pressures to overcome the resistance of soils and complete the penetration, but excessive negative pressures are also avoided to cause seepage damages. In this paper, the model test method was used to analyze the movement characteristics of multi-bucket foundations in the process of sinking in sand, and the common calculation methods of sinking resistances are verified. The critical negative pressure corresponding to the seepage failure of foundation was determined under the action of increasing negative pressure step by step and the characteristics of soil failure were studied. The calculation formula of critical suction in sand was verified in application, and according to the test results, the value of seepage coefficient was modified, which provides an example for the study of suction foundation in sand soils.

文摘The application of the wellhead suction anchor in the second production test of natural gas hydrates(NGHs)in the South China Sea(SCS)was met with success. This design incorporates a central conductor guide pipe, which distinguishes it from traditional suction foundations. However, this addition resulted in a relatively high penetration resistance and a shallower penetration depth at the self-weight penetration stage. To mitigate this issue, the current study proposes an optimized design where the end of the suction foundation is sharpened. The installation characteristics of the traditional suction foundation and new suction foundation during self-weight penetration into sand are studied through laboratory tests and theoretical analysis. The flat and sharpened bottom shapes are considered in the traditional and new suction models. The effects of the initial penetration velocity on the initial penetration depth and soil plug and impact cavity characteristics are systematically studied. The results show that the self-weight penetration depth of the foundation with a sharpened bottom is 44.5%deeper than that of the foundation with a flat bottom. There are cavities around the foundation at the self-weight penetration stage, and the penetration depth is overestimated by 15%-30%.Finally,a model for predicting the penetration depth of the new suction foundation is proposed.

文摘The penetration of the composite bucket foundation(CBF)is crucial in its construction process. In actual projects, the foundation is inevitably subjected to eccentric load caused by towers and turbines,as well as wind, wave, and flow, during the one-step installation. Moreover, the eccentric load is bound to affect the penetration method and penetration resistance of the foundation. To examine the above-mentioned issues, the penetration resistance of CBF with eccentric load was calculated and analyzed based on model tests, and the seepage field of the CBF under eccentric load was analyzed using ABAQUS.The influence of different magnitudes of eccentric load and various offset strategies on penetration resistance was analyzed, and the theoretical and measured values were compared. The result indicated that the negative pressure of the offset room was found to be smaller than that of other rooms when the CBF penetrated the soil under eccentric load. The penetration resistance of CBF under eccentric load was larger than that without eccentricity, and the larger the eccentric load is,the greater the penetration resistance. The influence of different eccentric load offset strategies on penetration resistance was found to be negligible. The calculated penetration resistance under eccentric load was in good agreement with the measured value.

文摘The deep‐sea ground contains a huge amount of energy and mineral resources, for example, oil, gas, and minerals.Various infrastructures such as floating structures, seabed structures, and foundations have been developed to exploit these resources. The seabed structures and foundations can be mainly classified into three types:subsea production structures, offshore pipelines, and anchors. This study reviewed the development, installation, and operation of these infrastructures, including their structures, design, installation, marine environment loads, and applications. On this basis, the research gaps and further research directions were explored through this literature review.First, different floating structures were briefly analyzed and reviewed to introduce the design requirements of the seabed structures and foundations.Second, the subsea production structures, including subsea manifolds and their foundations, were reviewed and discussed.Third, the basic characteristics and design methods of deep‐sea pipelines, including subsea pipelines and risers, were analyzed and reviewed. Finally, the installation and bearing capacity of deep‐sea subsea anchors and seabed trench influence on the anchor were reviewed.Through the review,it was found that marine environment conditions are the key inputs for any offshore structure design. The fabrication, installation, and operation of infrastructures should carefully consider the marine loads and geological conditions.Different structures have their own mechanical problems. The fatigue and stability of pipelines mainly depend on the soil‐structure interaction.Anchor selection should consider soil types and possible trench formation. These focuses and research gaps can provide a helpful guide on further research, installation, and operation of deep‐sea structures and foundations.
文摘To make a large area of dredger fill silt surface layer form working face and subsequent construction problems, the project conducts the bamboo network reinforcement in the silt surface layer. It makes the surface layer bearing capacity to meet the construction requirement of deep processing. Based on Shantou Municipal Road Embankment Treatment Engineering and the project, the bamboo network reinforcement technology to reinforce the dredger fill super soft soil surface layer is used. The results show that the bearing capacity of hydraulic fill super soft soil surface layer is 32.6 kPa after 3 months treatment. The surface layer bearing capacity after 3 months treatment improved 323% than the early treatment and increased 695% than no processing. The results indicate that the reinforcement effect is outstanding and provide the basis for drafting the dredger fill super soft soil surface layer treatment plan.

文摘This study investigates the ground and structural response of adjacent raft foundations induced by largescale surcharge by ore in soft soil areas through a 130g centrifuge modeling test with an innovative layered loading device. The prototype of the test is a coastal iron ore yard with a natural foundation of deep soft soil. Therefore,it is necessary to adopt some measures to reduce the influence of the large-scale surcharge on the adjacent raft foundation, such as installing stone columns for foundation treatment.Under an acceleration of 130 g,the model conducts similar simulations of iron ore, stone columns, and raft foundation structures. The tested soil mass has dimensions of 900 mm×700 mm×300 mm(lengthwidthdepth),which is remodeled from the soil extracted from the drilling holes. The test conditions are consistent with the actual engineering conditions and the effects of four-level loading conditions on the composite foundation of stone columns, unreinforced zone, and raft foundations are studied. An automatic layer-by-layer loading device was innovatively developed to simulate the loading process of actual engineering more realistically. The composite foundation of stone columns had a large settlement after the loading, forming an obvious settlement trough and causing the surface of the unreinforced zone to rise. The 12 m surcharge loading causes a horizontal displacement of 13.19 cm and a vertical settlement of 1.37 m in the raft foundation. The stone columns located on both sides of the unreinforced zone suffered significant shear damage at the sand-mud interface.Due to the reinforcement effect of stone columns, the sand layer below the top of the stone columns moves less.Meanwhile, the horizontal earth pressure in the raft foundation zone increases slowly. The stone columns will form new drainage channels and accelerate the dissipation of excess pore pressure.
