Nonlinear interaction of head-on solitary waves in integrable and nonintegrable systems

This study numerically investigates the nonlinear interaction of head-on solitary waves in a granular chain(a nonintegrable system)and compares the simulation results with the theoretical results in fluid(an integrable system).Three stages(the pre-in-phase traveling stage,the central-collision stage,and the post-in-phase traveling stage)are identified to describe the nonlinear interaction processes in the granular chain.The nonlinear scattering effect occurs in the central-collision stage,which decreases the amplitude of the incident solitary waves.Compared with the leading-time phase in the incident and separation collision processes,the lagging-time phase in the separation collision process is smaller.This asymmetrical nonlinear collision results in an occurrence of leading phase shifts of time and space in the post-in-phase traveling stage.We next find that the solitary wave amplitude does not influence the immediate space-phase shift in the granular chain.The space-phase shift of the post-in-phase traveling stage is only determined by the measurement position rather than the wave amplitude.The results are reversed in the fluid.An increase in solitary wave amplitude leads to decreased attachment,detachment,and residence times for granular chains and fluid.For the immediate time-phase shift,leading and lagging phenomena appear in the granular chain and the fluid,respectively.These results offer new knowledge for designing mechanical metamaterials and energy-mitigating systems. 展开更多

In order to satisfy the requirement of SI-traceable on-orbit absolute radiation calibration transfer with high accuracy for satellite remote sensors,a transfer chain consisting of a fiber coupling monochromator(FBM) and an integrating sphere transfer radiometer(ISTR) was designed in this paper.Depending on the Sun,this chain based on detectors provides precise spectral radiometric calibration and measurement to spectrometers in the reflective solar band(RSB) covering 300–2500 nm with a spectral bandwidth of 0.5–6 nm.It shortens the traditional chain based on lamp source and reduces the calibration uncertainty from 5% to 0.5% by using the cryogenic radiometer in space as a radiometric benchmark and trap detectors as secondary standard.This paper also gives a detailed uncertainty budget with reasonable distribution of each impact factor,including the weak spectral signal measurement with uncertainty of 0.28%.According to the peculiar design and comprehensive uncertainty analysis,it illustrates that the spectral radiance measurement uncertainty of the ISTR system can reach to 0.48%.The result satisfies the requirements of SI-traceable on-orbit calibration and has wider significance for expanding the application of the remote sensing data with high-quality. 展开更多

In this paper, the electronic transfer integrals, the energy gap, and the bandwidth of a planar trans polyacetylene chain are calculated in Wannier representation, in which a combination of the wave function of hydrogen like atoms is used to stand for the Wannier function. When the effective nuclear charge number Z = 2.125 and the distortion amplitude of the carbon sites u =0.0038 nm, the nearest, next, and third neighbor hopping energies obtained are -3.224 78 eV, -2.388 61 eV, 0.148 14 eV, 0.006 65 eV, and 0.006 50 eV, respectively. The energy bandwidth and gap corresponding to these values are W d =11.19 eV and E g =1.70 eV, respectively. These results coincide with the experimental values. 展开更多

In order to explore the potential of profit margin improvement,a novel three-scale integrated optimization model of furnace simulation,cyclic scheduling,and supply chain of ethylene plants is proposed and evaluated.A decoupling strategy is proposed for the solution of the three-scale model,which uses our previously proposed reactor scale model for operation optimization and then transfers the obtained results as a parameter table in the joint MILP optimization of plant-supply chain scale for cyclic scheduling.This optimization framework simplifies the fundamental mixed-integer nonlinear programming(MINLP)into several sub-models,and improves the interpretability and extendibility.In the evaluation of an industrial case,a profit increase at a percentage of 3.25%is attained in optimization compared to the practical operations.Further sensitivity analysis is carried out for strategy evolving study when price policy,supply chain,and production requirement parameters are varied.These results could provide useful suggestions for petrochemical enterprises on thermal cracking production. 展开更多

The study results indicated that supply chain integration positively affected environmental performance. This article is aiming to investigate the emerging impact of industry-4.0 on supply chain integration and responsiveness in the electronics industry in China.Specifically,it is to investigate the moderating effect of industry-4.0 as a strategic factor on the causal relationship from operational integration to supply chain responsiveness.This study develops hypotheses based the on selected literature reviews in the relevant research areas,and tests the hypotheses in the empirical sample data set collected from 76 electronics firms by using hierarchical multiple regression method.The results of this study shows that industry-4.0 as an emerging strategic factor has not only directly helped the level of market responsiveness of the firms,but also has significantly strengthens the already proven positive causal relationship from operational integration within the supply chain to the overall market responsiveness as part of supply chain performance.To improve the supply chain responsiveness in the electronics industry,managers can now make more confident and informed decisions to channel their resources towards the initiatives of industry-4.0 by up-grading perhaps their current information systems and business processes,knowing full well the dual benefits offered by the Industry 4.0 initiatives.The study extends the concurrent literature by conceptualising the moderating effect of industry-4.0 on the causal relationship between supply chain integration and business responsiveness. 展开更多

Accurate trajectory control of a robot is essential in practical-use. This paper presents an adaptive proportional integral differential (PID) control algorithm based on radial basis function (RBF) neural network for trajectory tracking of a two-degree-of-freedom (2-DOF) closed-chain robot. In this scheme, an RBF neural network is used to approximate the unknown nonlinear dynamics of the robot, at the same time, the PID parameters can be adjusted online and the high precision can be obtained. Simulation results show that the control algorithm accurately tracks a 2-DOF closed-chain robot trajectories. The results also indicate that the system robustness and tracking performance are superior to the classic PID method. 展开更多

While most of the research addresses this issue by highlighting the need for re-positioning and redefining the role of the port within the supply chains, not much attention has been given to the structure, scope and reach as well as to the tools of regulation hat competent authorities could exploit in order to avert potential abusive actions of global powerful actors along the containerized transport chain, that would affect the competitive functioning of distinct segment or the integrity of supply chains. In this context, we propose the reconceptualization and reinforcement of the regulatory governance structures of ports on a national and international level as well as the extension of the scope of ports’ regulations along the supply chain to counterbalance the globalization, consolidation and integration of containerized transport actors. 展开更多
