This paper reviews the historical context of the p...The Anne Frank House, site of Anne Frank's place of hiding 1942-1944, has become a leading tourist attraction in Amsterdam and among heritage sites of the Holocaust. This paper reviews the historical context of the political events from 1933 to 1945, the circumstances for the betrayal, and arrest of the group in hiding, the saving of Anne Frank's diary and its publication after her death at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in March 1945. Further, the paper reconstructs the beginnings of the heritage site as a small museum at 263 Prinsengracht in 1960 as well as the management issues and capacity problems that led to a larger museum complex including an educational center in 1999. During the years of 2007-2010, when the annual visitation of the museum surpassed one million, the Anne Frank House decided to introduce a high quality 3D version of the Secret Annex on the Intemet. In the final part of the paper, trends in museum management and the more frequent uses of a digital documentation of heritages sites are reviewed.展开更多
Bivariate distribution models are veritable tools for improving forest stand volume estimations.Their accuracy depends on the method of construction.To-date,most bivariate distributions in forestry have been construct...Bivariate distribution models are veritable tools for improving forest stand volume estimations.Their accuracy depends on the method of construction.To-date,most bivariate distributions in forestry have been constructed either with normal or Plackett copulas.In this study,the accuracy of the Frank copula for constructing bivariate distributions was assessed.The effectiveness of Frank and Plackett copulas were evaluated on seven distribution models using data from temperate and tropical forests.The bivariate distributions include:Burr III,Burr XII,Logit-Logistic,Log-Logistic,generalized Weibull,Weibull and Kumaraswamy.Maximum likelihood was used to fit the models to the joint distribution of diameter and height data of Pinus pinaster(184 plots),Pinus radiata(96 plots),Eucalyptus camaldulensis(85 plots)and Gmelina arborea(60 plots).Models were evaluated based on negative log-likelihood(-ΛΛ).The result show that Frank-based models were more suitable in describing the joint distribution of diameter and height than most of their Plackett-based counterparts.The bivariate Burr III distributions had the overall best performance.The Frank copula is therefore recommended for the construction of more useful bivariate distributions in forestry.展开更多

Frank Norris is a famous American naturalist writer.His novel McTeague is known as the“Declaration of American Naturalism”and its publication establishes him as“the father of American naturalism”.However,few schol...Frank Norris is a famous American naturalist writer.His novel McTeague is known as the“Declaration of American Naturalism”and its publication establishes him as“the father of American naturalism”.However,few scholars had given a detailed literature review on the current studies of Frank Norris and his novel McTeague.Through the literature search of online databases such as CNKI,EBSCO,ProQuest,and the downloading of data from 1348 libraries,it is obvious that domestic researches concerning Norris’s works are not large while foreign researches are rich in number and deep in level.Studies related to Norris’s Mc⁃Teague both at home and abroad mainly focus on naturalism,character,image,plot,money worship,comic and comparative study,which still can be further explored from different angles like the perspectives of economy,consumption or contemporary narrative.It arouses people’s attention to Frank Norris’s and other American naturalists’works while sheds light on the future studies of McTeague.展开更多
