The dry frictional wear behaviors of the coatings at 500 ℃ in static air were investigated. The comparison was made with the coating without nano-particles. The results show that the wear mechanism of the NiCoCrAlY coatings with nano-particles, like the coating without nano-particles, is the delamination wear due to the strong plastic deformation and oxidative wear. However, the frictional coefficient of the coatings increases and presents the decrease trend with the increase of sliding distance after adding nano-particles. Moreover, the wear rate of the coatings with nano-particles is only 34.0%-64.5% of the coating without nano-particles. Among the three nano-particles, the improvement of nano-SiC on the high temperature wear resistance of the coating is the most significant.展开更多

Results indicate that the volumetric wear rates and average friction coefficients decrease with the increase of sliding speeds, and increase with the increase of test temperature below 150℃. The hard and thermally stable Mg12(Y,Gd)Zn phase with long-period stacking order structure in the alloy presents significant wear resistance, The wear mechanism below 100℃ is abrasive wear as a result of plastic extrusion deformation. The tool rotational speed was varied from 800 to 1200 r/min in step of 200 r/min. The traverse speed, axial force, groove width and tool pin profile were kept constant. Optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy were used to study the microstructure of the fabricated surface composites. The sliding wear behavior was evaluated using a pin-on-disc apparatus. The results indicate that the tool rotational speed significantly influences the area of the surface composite and the distribution of B4C particles. Higher rotational speed exhibits homogenous distribution of B4C particles, while lower rotational speed causes poor distribution of B4C particles in the surface composite. The effects of tool rotational speed on the grain size, microhardness, wear rate, worn surface and wear debris were reported.展开更多

The tribology properties of the unreinforced ZA43 alloy and the composites were studied by using a block on ring apparatus. Experimental results show that the incorporation of TiC particles improves the microstructure of ZA43 matrix alloy. The coefficient of friction μ and the width of worn groove decrease with the increase of TiC volume fraction φ (TiC). The width of worn groove and μ of the composite during wear testing increase with increasing the applied load. Metallographic examinations reveal that unreinforced ZA43 alloy has deep ploughing grooves with obvious adhesion phenomenon, whereas TiC/ZA43 composites have smooth worn surface. Delamination formation is related to the fatigue cracks and the shear cracks on the surface. [展开更多

TiB2/Al composite was produced by incorporating K2TiF6, KBF4 salts and other agents into Al melt. As a master alloy, TiB2/Al composite was used to manufacture TiB2/ZA27 composite, which results in the generation of well-distributed reinforcing TiB2 phase. The hardness, friction and wear behavior of TiB2/ZA27 composite were investigated. The results show that the hardness of the composite is enhanced with increasing the content of TiB2 particles, the incorporation of TiB2 reduces the wear rate of TiB2/ZA27 composite and improves the friction property under lubricated and dry sliding friction conditions. The worn track width of ZA27 alloy is 1.6 and 2.5 times as long as that of (2.1%)TiB2/ZA27 composite at 150N and 700N load under lubricated conditions, which indicates that TiB2/ZA27 composite possesses higher bearing ability.展开更多

The antiwear and friction reducing abilities of the nano-silicates, as well as their composites with oleic acid tri-ethanolamine (OATEA), were evaluated on a four-ball friction tester. The topographies and tribochemical features of the worn surfaces were analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscope (XPS). Results show that nano-silicates alone provide poor antiwear and friction reducing abilities in water, but exhibits excellent synergism with OATEA in reducing friction and wear. The synergism in reducing friction and wear between nano- silicates and OATEA does exist almost regardless of particte sizes and species, and may be attributed, on one hand, to the formation of an adsorption film of OATEA, and, on the other hand, to the formation oftribochemical species of silicon dioxide and iron oxides on the friction surfaces. Tribo-reactions and tribo-adsorptions of nano-silicates and OATEA would produce hereby an effective composite boundary lubrication film, which could efficiently enhance the anti-wear and friction-reducing abilities of water.展开更多

Aluminum reinforced with ZrB2 particles is one such AMC. The successful application of new kind of AMCs lies in the development of secondary processes such as machining and joining. Friction stir welding (FSW) is a relatively new solid state welding which overcomes all the setbacks of fusion welding of AMCs. An attempt has been made to friction stir weld AA6061/ 0-10 wt. % ZrB2 in-situ composites and to develop empirical relationships to predict the sliding wear behavior of butt joints. Four factors, five levels central composite rotatable design has been used to minimize the number of experiments. The factors considered are tool rotational speed, welding speed, axial force and weight percentage of ZrB2. The effect of these factors on wear rate (W) and wear resistance (R) of the welded joints is analyzed and the predicted trends are discussed.展开更多

By adding Mn, RE, Ti and B into ZA 27 alloy, the test alloy (ZMJ) was fabricated by sand casting. Microstructural analysis shows that considerable amount of Mn containing intermetallic compounds such as Al 5MnZn, Al 9(MnZn) 2 and Al 65 Mn(RE) 6Ti 4Zn 36 are formed. Compared to ZA 27, ZMJ shows better wear resistance, lower friction coefficient and lower temperature rise of worn surface under lubricated sliding condition. ZMJ also shows the lowest steady friction coefficient under dry friction condition. The wear resistance improvement of ZMJ is mainly attributed to the high hardness and good dispersion of these Mn containing intermetallic compounds. It is indicated that the intermetallic compounds play a dominant role in reducing the sever adhesive and abrasive wear of the ZA 27 alloy.展开更多

The effects of CNT concentration in plating bath on the volume fraction of CNTs in the deposits and the coating growth rate were investigated. The friction and wear behavior of the Ni-CNT composite coatings were examined using a pin-on-disk wear tester under dry sliding conditions at a sliding speed of 0.062 3 m/s and load range from 12 N to 150 N. Because of the reinforcement of CNTs in the composite coatings, at lower applied loads, the wear resistance was improved with increasing volume fraction of CNTs. Since cracking and peeling occur on the worn surface, the wear rates of composite coatings with high volume fraction of CNTs increase rapidly at higher applied loads. The friction coefficient of the composite coatings decreases with the increasing volume fraction of CNTs due to the reinforcement and self-lubrication of CNTs.展开更多

文摘The friction and wear behaviors of biodegradable Mg-6Gd-0.5Zn-0.4Zr(wt%,GZ60K)alloy were evaluated under simulated body fluid(SBF)condition using ball-on-disk configuration and compared with those under dry sliding condition. The results show that under dry sliding and SBF conditions, the friction coefficient declines with increasing applied load and keeps stable with prolonging sliding time. The friction coefficient of the alloy effectively decreases in SBF as compared to dry sliding due to lubrication caused by SBF.The real wear rates under SBF condition are lower than those under dry sliding condition for each parameter.Nevertheless, the nominal wear rates are higher in SBF which are attributed to the more mass loss caused by corrosion but not wear. Both the nominal wear rate in SBF and the dry sliding wear rate increase with increasing applied load, and they decline firstly and then keep stable with prolonging sliding time.It is concluded that the wear of the alloy is restricted by the SBF,but the corrosion of the alloy is aggravated by the wear.

文摘The sliding friction and wear behaviors of Mg-11Y-5Gd-2Zn-0.5Zr (wt%) alloy were investigated under oil lubricant condition by pin-on-disk configuration with a constant sliding distance of 1,000 m in the temperature range of 25-200℃. The corporate effects of severe abrasive, oxidative, and delaminating wear result in the tribological mechanism above 100℃.
文摘The microstructures, friction and wear behavior under dry sliding condition of electrodeposited amorphous Fe-Co-W alloy deposits heat treated at different temperatures were studied. A comparative study of hard chrome deposit under the same testing condition was also made. The experimental results show that the hardness and wear resistance of amorphous Fe-Co-W alloy deposits are improved with the increasing of heat treatment temperature, and reach the maximum value at 800 ℃, then decrease above 800 ℃. Under 40 N load, the wear resistance properties of the alloy deposits heat treated at 800 ℃ are superior to those of hard chrome deposit. The main wear mechanisms of amorphous Fe-Co-W alloy deposits heat treated below 600 ℃ are peeling, plastic and flowing deformation; when the deposits are heat treated above 700 ℃, they are plastic and flowing deformation. While the main wear mechanisms of hard chrome are abrasive wear, fatigue and peeling.
文摘An attempt was made to synthesize Cu/B4C surface composite using friction stir processing(FSP) and to analyze the influence of tool rotational speed on microstructure and sliding wear behavior of the composite. The effects of tool rotational speed on the grain size, microhardness, wear rate, worn surface and wear debris were reported.
文摘TiC/ZA43 composites were fabricated by XD TM and stirring casting techniques. [

文摘The microstructures and hot tensile behaviors of ZK30 alloys subjected to single-and multi-pass friction stir processing(FSP)were systematically investigated.Following single-pass FSP(S-FSP),coarse grains underwent refinement to 1−2μm,with a distinct basal texture emerging in the stir zone(SZ).Additionally,second-phase particles were fragmented, dispersed, and partially dissolved.Multi-pass FSP(M-FSP)further enhanced the homogeneity of the microstructure, reduced texture intensity differences, and decreased the fraction of second-phase particles by 50%.Both S-FSP and M-FSP SZs demonstrated superplasticity at strain rates below 1×10^(−3)s^(−1)and at temperatures of 250−350℃.The S-FSP SZ exhibited an elongation of 390%at 250℃and 1×10^(−4)s^(−1),while the M-FSP SZ achieved an elongation of 406%at 350℃and 1×10^(−3)s^(−1).The superplastic deformation of SZ was co-dominated by grain boundary sliding(GBS)and the solute-drag mechanism in S-FSP and mainly by GBS in M-FSP.
文摘In-situ TiB2 particles reinforced ZA27 composite was prepared by the stir-casting technique and a two-step method. The worn track width of ZA27 alloy is 1.6 and 2.5 times as long as that of (2.1%)TiB2/ZA27 composite at 150N and 700N load under lubricated conditions, which indicates that TiB2/ZA27 composite possesses higher bearing ability.

文摘Nano-metric magnesium silicate and zinc silicate with particle size of about 50-70nm were prepared in water by the method of chemical deposition. Tribo-reactions and tribo-adsorptions of nano-silicates and OATEA would produce hereby an effective composite boundary lubrication film, which could efficiently enhance the anti-wear and friction-reducing abilities of water.
文摘Over the last decade attempts have been made to fabricate aluminum matrix composites (AMCs) reinforced with several ceramic particles. The effect of these factors on wear rate (W) and wear resistance (R) of the welded joints is analyzed and the predicted trends are discussed.
文摘A ZA 27 alloy reinforced with Mn containing intermetallic compounds was prepared and its tribological behaviors were investigated. It is indicated that the intermetallic compounds play a dominant role in reducing the sever adhesive and abrasive wear of the ZA 27 alloy.
文摘Nickel-carbon nanotube(CNT) composite coatings with a Zn-Ni interlayer were prepared by electrodeposition technique on aluminum substrate. The friction coefficient of the composite coatings decreases with the increasing volume fraction of CNTs due to the reinforcement and self-lubrication of CNTs.
