We suggest that employees’ job satisfaction has relationship to friendship network other than professional commitment, and argue that friendship network in the same ward and across wards will have different effects o...We suggest that employees’ job satisfaction has relationship to friendship network other than professional commitment, and argue that friendship network in the same ward and across wards will have different effects on employees’ job satisfaction. A cross-sectional survey design utilizing questionnaires was selected to fulfill the research objectives. All of the 405 nurses in the En Chou Kong Hospital were surveyed. Three hundred and three nurses completed the questionnaire representing a response rate of 74.8%. The instruments included friendship network nomination, professional commitment scale, and nurses’ job satisfaction scale (NJSS). The regression model of job satisfaction was constructed, using friendship network variables in the ward and across wards and professional commitment as independent variables. R square for each model is 0.22-0.36 for the four dimensions of job satisfaction. Professional commitment is the robust predictor. The efficiency of friendship network in the ward is a good predictor, while it is negative related to satisfaction of work load. Further, the indegree in the ward is negative related to work load. In this paper,we study the dynamic evolution of friendship network in SNS(Social Networking Site).Our analysis suggests that an individual joining a community depends not only on the number of friends he or she has wi...In this paper,we study the dynamic evolution of friendship network in SNS(Social Networking Site).Our analysis suggests that an individual joining a community depends not only on the number of friends he or she has within the community,but also on the friendship network generated by those friends.In addition,we propose a model which is based on two processes:first,connecting nearest neighbors;second,strength driven attachment mechanism.The model reflects two facts:first,in the social network it is a universal phenomenon that two nodes are connected when they have at least one common neighbor;second,new nodes connect more likely to nodes which have larger weights and interactions,a phenomenon called strength driven attachment(also called weight driven attachment).From the simulation results,we find that degree distribution P(k),strength distribution P(s),and degree-strength correlation are all consistent with empirical data.展开更多

Utilizing dynamic social network models that control for friend influences on individual alcohol use, the results show that drinkers do not strongly prefer friends who drink. Instead, they favor close friends whose friends’ drink, suggesting that alcohol matters for selection on the social groups and environments that friends connect each other to. The role of alcohol use differs by whether friendships are new or existing, however, with bridging connections being less stable. Moreover, selection processes, and the implications of alcohol use for friendship, vary in important ways between schools.展开更多
