Combination effect of seasonal freezing and artificial freezing on frost heave of silty clay 被引量:7

To investigate the frost-heave properties of silty clay under the combination action of seasonal freezing and artificial freezing, and verify the feasibility of combined freezing, eight combined freezing experiments were performed on silty clay with water content (mass fraction) of 23.5% and 28.0%, through developed frost-heave test apparatus, in closed or open system. Two sorts of freezing temperature models, namely, constant and sine models, were applied to artificial freezing. The experimental results indicate that the frost-heave degree in seasonal freezing stage accounts for over 90% of the total in open system and it is up to 95% in closed system; the change of artificial sine-freezing temperature has no influence on the frost-heave degree in closed system, however, slight influence in open system. It is found that the variation of temperature gradient of sine-freezing specimen lags behind that of sine-freezing temperature with half phase; sine-freezing temperature model can reduce frost-heave degree of soil. Brand new technology is proposed for the application of artificial ground freezing and new study field of artificial freezing is created. 展开更多

This paper set up a series of comprehensive targets based on the concept of'anti-freeze filler', which include reasonable water retention rate, frost heave characteristics, and compaction characteristics of filling material. Then, a type of permeable graded gravel is proposed, suitable for high-speed railway subgrade. A series of in-door water retention, permeability, and frost heave tests were performed under different graded conditions. Water retention, permeability, and frost heave characteristic of dif- ferent graded filling materials can be determined, in order to define the gradation range of permeable graded gravel. Relying on the frost-heave monitoring record of high speed railway in Northeast China, a series of experimental studies were per- formed, which included on-site filler production, compaction test, and the anti-frost effect test, in order to improve the pro- duction and compaction techniques of permeable graded gravel. From the research of this paper, the use of permeable graded gravel subgrade as the anti-frost structure for the high-speed railway subgrade in cold areas is feasible. 展开更多

Considering the only retaining structure L-type retaining wall used in Golmud-Lhasa sectionofQinghai-Tibet Railway, the earth pressure and frost-heavingforce was tested in a frost-thaw circle for one year, and several different analysis models were studied.Comparedwith site test and theory analysis, it was found that the actual earth pressure is much larger than the designedearth pressure. Hence, a revised analysis model of earth pressure is put forward, which could include another possible force except slide triangle or frost heaving force. The model in this paper is only consider the thrust force other than failure sliding wedge.This model could be used as reference for the design and construction of similar projects. 展开更多

Observation of delamination frost-heave is of significance in the study of foundation frost damage. The three main methods of observing delamination frost-heave, which are mono-frost-heave-ruler method, multi-frost-heave-ruler method and magnetic-loop method, are briefly introduced in this paper at first. Their respective advantages and disadvantages are analyzed. And then, according to the mechanism of frost-heave and the law of water migration and ice-forming in the freezing soil, a new approximate indirect method of observing the delamination frost-heave, which is antitheses, is brought forward by comparing surface frost-heave and frost-depth. On the basis of observation result in Chengyu Expressway and Daqing, its applicability is analyzed from three aspects under different groundwater level and soil property in seasonal frozen area.
