EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF FLOW FIELDS IN THE VICINITY OF A FILM COOLING HOLE EXIT

For the first time, an important ingested flow phenomenon was discovered inexperiments at the film cooling hole exit. The trends of 3-D flow fie1ds and the fullnessfactor, Ci, were discussed in detail over a wide range of now parameters and the geometryof fan-shaped holes at this exit plane. It has been confirmed that the main reason of creat-ing longitudinal bound vortices is not the flow iri the hole but the mixing of mainstreamand jet at its exit.

Re-examining Tropical Cyclone Fullness Using Aircraft Reconnaissance Data

We use FLIGHT+ aircraft reconnaissance data for tropical cyclones(TCs) in the North Atlantic and Eastern Pacific from 1997 to 2015 to re-examine TC fullness(TCF) characteristics at the flight level.The results show a strong positive correlation between the flight-level TCF and the intensity of TCs,with the flight-level TCF increasing much more rapidly than the near-surface TCF with increasing intensity of the TCs.The tangential wind in small-TCF hurricanes is statistically significantly stronger near the eye center than that in large-TCF hurricanes.Large-TCF hurricanes have a ring-like vorticity structure.No significant correlation is observed between the flight-level TCF and the comparative extent of the vorticityskirt region occupied in the outer core skirt.The proportion of the rapid filamentation zone in the outer core skirt increases with increasing flight-level TCF.The differences in entropy between the radius of the maximum wind and the outer boundary of the outer core skirt also increase with increasing flight-level TCF.

Possible Truths Inside Mistranslations―An Attempt at Understanding Mistranslations

This paper examines five cases of mistranslation to shed light on the deliverability and truthfulness of mistranslations.In some cases,a“mistranslation”turns out to be a brilliant translation.Case 1:At a meeting for the UN Security Council Resolution 242,an intentional mistranslation may have been conducted between English and French texts,so Arab nations and Israel would agree.Case 2:At the time of the Sino-Japan diplomatic normalization,Japanese Prime Minister Tanaka made an apology to China that was mistranslated into something banal sounding.Case 3:During his US visit to see President Reagan,Japanese Prime Minister Nakasone’s remarks for an aircraft carrier were mistranslated.Case 4:In TPP negotiations,an ultimatum was pronounced by a Japanese interpreter,although the Japanese negotiator had not said it.Case 5:At a Japanese event,a supposedly deaf composer was dubbed a“digital-age Beethoven”in English;but he replaced it with a“modern-day Beethoven”in Japanese to make himself sound more significant.In hindsight,some cases of mistranslations are hard to judge as mistakes.However,identifying mistranslations helps reveal cultural differences and complicated political differences,and can help improve the quality of translation and interpretation.

Subjective Well-Being Model for Urban Mexico and Applications

The purpose of this article is to contribute to the analysis of subjective well-being in the cities of Mexico through the theoretical formalization and empirical verification of a quantitative model.The variables come from the constructs of the self-reported well-being module(BIARE);and they are called:overall satisfaction with life,sense of fullness,affect balance,and satisfaction domains.The equations were constructed using ordinary least squares regression with the BIARE databases of 2014 and 2017.The analysis of the behavior pattern of variables conduced to findings of urban society’s expectations of well-being and concerns in the period analyzed.Variables quality of life-and-self-realization and overall satisfaction with life have the greatest weight in the model equations.Besides,it was determined that emotional balance and citizen security condition the model.Finally,a relevant finding was that religion restricts the sense of fulness since it represents a well-being project with an opposite logic.

Clinical effects of injectable collagen in lower-lid pretarsal fullness rejuvenation

Background: Lower-lid pretarsal fullness rejuvenation is a popular surgery for Asian women. However, the current procedures have clinical complications and are not stable in the long-term. Here, we analyzed the effect of injectable collagen on lower-lid pretarsal fullness rejuvenation.Methods: To investigate the clinical effect of injectable collagen in lower-lid pretarsal fullness rejuvenation, we observed 32 Chinese Han female patients aged 18–55 years with non-distinctive lower-lid pretarsal fullness and no history of lower eyelid surgery or trauma. The injectable collagen products were used for local filling correction. After surgery, the patients were followed up for 12 months. A correction effect was evaluated through an analysis of volume changes using a visual analog scale. Adverse reactions were also recorded.Results: All patients achieved good aesthetic outcomes and strong stereoscopic impressions of lower-lid pretarsal fullness. Complications, such as edema and bruising, were not observed after the injection. Immediately after the operation, the average visual analog score was 2.65 ± 0.56. Six months after the operation, the average visual analog score was 2.96 ± 0.41. The patients reported high satisfaction levels. Immediately after the operation, the average lower-lid pretarsal fullness volume increase was 0.19 ± 0.04 m L on the left side and 0.21 ± 0.03 m L on the right side. After a 12-month follow-up, the average residual volume was 0.17 ± 0.06 m L on the left side and 0.19 ± 0.04 m L on the right side, suggesting that the injected collagen impact was stable.Conclusion: Injectable collagen promotes a vivid, natural appearance and is highly effective in rejuvenating lowerlid pretarsal fullness with low absorption rates in later stages. Therefore, injectable collagen should be considered in correcting congenital, non-distinctive, lower-lid pretarsal fullness in clinical practice.
