Under the matrix expression, a general description of the logical operators is proposed. Using the semi-tensor product of matrices, the proofs of logical equivalences, implications, etc., can be simplified a lot. Certain general properties are revealed. Then, based on matrix expression, the logical operators are extended to multi-valued logic, which provides a foundation for fuzzy logical inference. Finally, we propose a new type of logic, called mix-valued logic, and a new design technique, called logic-based fuzzy control. They provide a numerically computable framework for the application of fuzzy logic for the control of fuzzy systems.展开更多

Type-1 fuzzy logic research has been largely used in the control of mobile robots. However, type-1 fuzzy control presents limitations in handling those uncertainties as it uses precise fuzzy sets. Indeed type-1 fuzzy sets cannot deal with linguistic and numerical uncertainties associated with either the mechanical aspect of robots, or with dynamic changing environment or with knowledge used in the phase of conception of a fuzzy system. Recently many researchers have applied type-2 fuzzy logic to improve performance. As control using type-2 fuzzy sets represents a new generation of fuzzy controllers in mobile robotic issue, it is interesting to present the performances that can offer type-2 fuzzy sets by regards to type-1 fuzzy sets. The paper presented deep and new comparisons between the two sides of fuzzy logic and demonstrated the great interest in controlling mobile robot using type-2 fuzzy logic. We deal with the design of new controllers for mobile robots using type-2 fuzzy logic in the navigation process in unknown and dynamic environments. The dynamicity of the environment is depicted by the presence of other dynamic robots. The performances of the proposed controllers are represented by both simulations and experimental results, and discussed over graphical paths and numerical analysis.展开更多

The controller is constructed by using a table lookup scheme and self tuning techniques, which includes the identification block, the fuzzification, the updating rule base, the defuzzification, and the crisp controller (sub controller), etc. The adaptive fuzzy controller is designed in detail by means of a triangular membership function and the center of gravity method. The control scheme addressed here is implemented to control the motion of the end effector of a two link constrained flexible manipulator. Computer simulation results show that the novel adaptive fuzzy control scheme works quite well.展开更多

It is a two-phase process including motion control information collection from natural language instructions, and motion information condensation with the aid of support vector machine (SVM) theory. Self-organizing fuzzy neural networks are utilized for the collection of control rules, from which support vector rules are extracted to form a final controller to achieve any given control accuracy. In this way, the number of control rules is reduced, and the structure of the controller tidied, making a controller constructed using natural language training more appropriate in practice, and providing a fundamental rule base for high-level robot behavior control. Simulations and experiments on a wheeled robot are carried out to illustrate the effectiveness of the method.展开更多

Using behavior fusion by fuzzy logic, a mobile robot is able to directly execute its motion according to range information about environments, acquired by ultrasonic sensorst without the need for trajectory planning. Based on low-level behavior control, an efficient strategy for integrating high-level global planning for robot motion can be formulated, since,in most applications, some information on environments is prior knowledge. Aglobal planner, therefore, only needs to generate some subgoal positions ratherthan exact geometric paths. Because such subgoals can be easily removed from or added into the planner, this. strategy reduces computational time for globalplanning and is flekible for replanning in dynamic environments. Simulationresults demonstrate that the proposed strategy can be applied to robot motion in complex and dynamic environments.展开更多
