Impact of Geographical Environment on British Landscape Garden Design

The study attempts to analyze the regional cultural characteristics of Britain under the unique geographical environment by taking the development process and characteristics of British landscape garden as the research object.British culture is an important carrier of British landscape garden culture,and the impact of the unique culture of“the empire on which the sun never sets”on formation and development,formal characteristics,temperament and connotation of landscape garden is discussed.

Application of Garden Design Style in Tang Dynasty to the Design of Modern City Public Gardens: A Case Study of Tang Paradise

Public garden, as a type of Chinese classical garden, is an important historical heritage and cultural landscape of the current traditional city. However, under the background of modern urbanization, urban living environment is out of the traditional history and culture and facing such issue as cement jungle. In order to improve the living environment and make the city coordinate with the natural environment, the development of modern urban gardens needs inheritance and development of traditional garden practices. The planning and design methods with scientific guidance were studied in this paper through exploring the application of garden design style in Tang Dynasty in the design of modern city public gardens, so as to inherit the classical garden culture and create a city open space that meets the needs of contemporary citizens as well.

Application of Classical Garden Design in Landscaping of West Sichuan Plain

Taking"Lotus Garden Residential Area"in Dayi County,Chengdu City,on the west Sichuan Plain for example,the signifi cance of combining ecological technologies and landscape design was elaborated,and the means of controlling urban fl ood and waterlogging were explored from the perspective of the basic unit of urban construction,the residential area,so as to offer a new sustainable thought for the environment design of future residential areas.

Analysis of Garden Design of Qiyunlou Garden in Jingyi Garden on Fragrant Hills Park of Beijing

Built in the tenth year during the reign of Emperor Qianlong (1745), located at the southern slope of Jingyi Garden on Fragrant Hills Park of Beijing, Qiyunlou Garden is one of the 28 scenic spots of Jingyi Garden. Its excellent geographical condition of “leaning against the towering mountain rocks on the right and overlooking the distant mountain hills on the left” and good natural environment of “lush growth of plants and quiet and secluded atmosphere” make this one of the favorite gardens of Emperor Qianlong. The organic combination of the tranquil mountain scenery, the agile stream and the building creates a poetic artistic conception that is broad, deep, quiet and elegant. This paper analyzes the value and historical changes of Qiyunlou Garden, and explores the garden design techniques of Qiyunlou Garden from the perspectives of site selection, stone arrangement, water feature design and plant configuration.

Design of Landscape Gardens in Urban Residential Areas

In this paper,the function of afforestation in urban residential areas was analyzed,and the connotation of landscape garden design in the urban residential areas with ecological beauty,shape beauty,and color beauty was discussed.This study focused on the design of the multi-level urban landscape garden,which took arbors as the main body,shrubs as the auxiliary,flowers as the embellishment,evergreen plants as the leading,and deciduous plants as the backdrop and which had preference for native plants and properly introduced exotic featured plants,so as to build a livable city.

In this paper,the author sums up some essential knowledge from the practiceabout rebuilding traditional buildings and gardens in which the author has been engagedrecently.The view points are that one should discard the dross and select the essential,re-tain the symbolic form,grasp the overall style,embody local characteristics and space outthe distance of time and space between the new and old buildings.Finally,the author con-siders that the traditional form of buildings should not be used indiscriminately at allplaces in modern times.

Easy-to-Use Look-Up Hydrologic Design Charts of a Soak-Away Rain Garden in Singapore

As catchments become urbanized due to population growth the impervious surfaces created by buildings and pavements in the expense of permeable soil, depressions, and vegetation cause rainwater to flow rapidly over the landscape. To mitigate the adverse impact of urbanization such as increased flooding and depleted groundwater recharge, around the world, several best management practices, in other words, green infrastructures have been practised, and soak-away rain garden is one of them. However, to have a rapid assessment of soak-away rain gardens on a range of potential hydrologic conditions (e.g., size of the soak-away rain garden, saturated hydraulic conductivity of the in-situ soil, and saturated hydraulic conductivity of the filter media), hydrologic design guidelines or design charts of soak-away rain gardens that are specific for local conditions are not currently available for many regions including Singapore. Thus, in this paper, with a design hyetograph of 3-month average rainfall intensities of Singapore, hydrologic design charts, especially, design charts on overflow volume (as a % of total runoff volume) of soak-away rain gardens are established for a range of potential hydrologic conditions by developing a mathematical model based on Richard’s equation using COMSOL Multiphysics, a finite element analysis and solver software package for various physics and engineering applications. These easy-to-use look-up hydrologic design charts will be of great utility for local managers in the design of soak-away rain gardens.

With the Old to Be New: Analysis on Design of Square Pagoda Gardenin Songjiang

The Square Pagoda Garden in Songjiang designed by Mr. Feng Jizhong is a model work of Chinese garden and modern architecture. Its basic pattern embodies the core idea of “with the old to be new”. This study mainly interpreted the Square Pagoda Garden from two dimensions of garden space and architectural structure, analyzed the unique creative characteristics and design ideas of the Square Pagoda Garden in combination with the characteristics of traditional Chinese garden architecture, and explored the “old” and “new” in the design of the Square Pagoda Garden.

Research on Design and Manifestation of Seclusion Sentiment in Classical Gardens in South China

After the illustration of the concept of landscape seclusion sentiment and the source of seclusion sentiment of classical gardens in South China, the paper has summarized the influence of Confucian, Taoist and Buddhist thoughts on the creation of seclusion sentiment of classical gardens, and further explored methods to create seclusion sentiment. It considers that seclusion sentiment of landscape is generally created through rockeries, waters, plants disposition, landscaping buildings and pavements, paintings and carvings.

On Waterscapes in Urban Residential Area from the Perspective of Rain Garden and Eco-pool Designs

Due to the high cost for operating and maintaining waterscapes, waterscapes in many residential areas have been laid aside and even become pollution sources. Taking MCC Beiluyuan (Residential Area) in Chongqing Municipality for example, concrete strategies of using natural terrains to design rain garden and eco-pool, collect rainwater, construct bottom of the bath, and combine plants were introduced, so as to explore a new approach of creating green and ecological modern residential landscapes.

城市昆虫传粉生境营建研究进展及思考

传粉昆虫是生物多样性重要组成部分,昆虫传粉生境建设能有效减缓植物授粉危机,有利于城市生物多样性保护和促进自然教育。文章通过检索文献库CNKI和Web of Science近20年相关文献,采用文献计量法、内容分析法,对昆虫传粉生境营建相关的规划与设计、建设与管理研究成果进行梳理。结果表明:规划方面,注重该类绿地与区域生态网络和城市专项规划融合;设计方面,强调植物选用遵循“双高”“本土”“多样化”原则,并采用“高密群植”“防风向阳”方式配置;建设方面,提倡保留多种地表,增加与雨水花园、绿色屋顶等生态景观布置和栖息设施举措;管理方面,建议纳入4种特色日常管理措施,并提出管理部门的政策支持能助力实现昆虫多样性目标。文章最后提出传粉生境营建研究还存在意义彰显不足、实践应用待加强,以及我国发展缓慢等相关思考,旨在对我国城市昆虫传粉生境营建与城市生物多样性保护提供研究参考。

《红楼梦》以细腻的笔触赋予每一个事与物活的灵魂,致使红学研究的热潮从未消减退却。建筑作为文学作品的空间创设,是文学意象与原型的有形表达,建筑物本体的审美价值与文学底蕴相生,构成对应的建筑意象。《红楼梦》中的大观园是刻画的重点,作为典型建筑,通过山石、流水的自然景观布局设计以及匾额、内部装饰物的意象传递,将人与物、景与情相生,深层次上由大观园所外延到社会百态雅与俗的共立及其所蕴含的道家文化内涵,从而深化审美活动所影射的对无为世界的追求。

由学生自主营造一个全要素雨水花园的困难与经验

校园营造是指在校园内以师生为主体的参与式设计行动。北京大学自2016年开始尝试学生自主参与校园建设的路径,初步形成了以学生社团为平台、多专业学生合作、多方参与,从被动邀请到主动发起的校园建设模式,探索出由学生主导完成从策划、设计、建造到运营的校园空间更新改造的全程参与经验。以其中一个由学生自主营造的全要素雨水花园的营造过程为例,总结了按照PBL要求的学生自主营造中遇到的困难和经验,详细分析了激发和维护学生自主性的策略,为在建成环境中增建雨水花园和更广泛的自主参与式营造提供了可借鉴的行业经验。
