Evaluation of Generalized Error Function via Fast-Converging Power Series

On the Unipolar Generator: An Experimental and Theoretical Study

When studying the phenomenon of the induced electromotive force, which originates from Faraday’s unipolar inductor, the contrast between Faraday’s view of the magnetic field dynamic lines and the theory of relativity is revealed. In order to remove this contradiction, this phenomenon was studied in depth, theoretically and experimentally, using an experimental setup similar to Faraday’s. Calculations of the induced electromotive force, based on relativity on the one hand and on Faraday’s view on the other were made with the help of measurements of the magnetic field components. Accurate magnetic field measurements are confirmed by analytical calculations. Precise-induced electromotive force measurements confirmed Faraday’s view and contradicted the theory of relativity. 展开更多

We propose a method for the compensation and phase correction of the amplitude spectrum based on the generalized S transform. The compensation of the amplitude spectrum within a reliable frequency range of the seismic record is performed in the S domain to restore the amplitude spectrum of reflection. We use spectral simulation methods to fit the time-dependent amplitude spectrum and compensate for the amplitude attenuation owing to absorption. We use phase scanning to select the time-, space-, and frequencydependent phases correction based on the parsimony criterion and eliminate the residual phase effect of the wavelet in the S domain. The method does not directly calculate the Q value; thus, it can be applied to the case of variable Q. The comparison of the theory model and field data verify that the proposed method can recover the amplitude spectrum of the strata reflectivity, while eliminating the effect of the residual phase of the wavelet. Thus, the wavelet approaches the zero-phase wavelet and, the seismic resolution is improved. 展开更多

In this paper, the modified CK's direct method to find symmetry groups of nonlinear partial differential equation is extended to (2+1)-dimensional variable coeffficient canonical generalized KP (VCCGKP) equation. As a result, symmetry groups, Lie point symmetry group and Lie symmetry for the VCCGKP equation are obtained. In fact, the Lie point symmetry group coincides with that obtained by the standard Lie group approach. Applying the given Lie symmetry, we obtain five types of similarity reductions and a lot of new exact solutions, including hyperbolic function solutions, triangular periodic solutions, Jacobi elliptic function solutions and rational solutions, for the VCCGKP equation. 展开更多

We can naturally use Bochner's Theorem to check if is positive definite. This requires however a n-dhnensiotial Fourier transformation and it is not very easy to calculate. Furthermore in a lot of cases we will use for spaces of various dimensions too, then for every fixed n we need do the Fourier transformation once to check if the function is positive definite in the n-di-mensional space. The completely monotone function:, which is discussed in [4] is positive definite for arbitrary space dimensions. With this technique tve can very easily characterize the positive definite, of a radial function through its generator. Unfortunately there is only a very small subset of radial function which is completely monotone. Thus this criterion excluded a lot of interesting functions such as compactly supported radial function, whcih are very useful in application. The low-pass fi ltering eff ect of the Earth results in the absorption and attenuation of the high-frequency components of seismic signals by the stratum during propagation.Hence,seismic data have low resolution.Considering the limitations of traditional high-frequency compensation methods,this paper presents a new method based on adaptive generalized S transform.This method is based on the study of frequency spectrum attenuation law of seismic signals,and the Gauss window function of adaptive generalized S transform is used to fi t the attenuation trend of seismic signals to seek the optimal Gauss window function.The amplitude spectrum compensation function constructed using the optimal Gauss window function is used to modify the time-frequency spectrum of the adaptive generalized S transform of seismic signals and reconstruct seismic signals to compensate for high-frequency attenuation.Practical data processing results show that the method can compensate for the high-frequency components that are absorbed and attenuated by the stratum,thereby eff ectively improving the resolution and quality of seismic data. 展开更多

In this paper, we analyze the seismic signal in the time-frequency domain using the generalized S-transform combined with spectrum modeling. Without assuming that the reflection coefficients are random white noise as in the conventional resolution-enhanced techniques, the wavelet which changes with time and frequency was simulated and eliminated. After using the inverse S-transform for the processed instantaneous spectrum, the signal in the time domain was obtained again with a more balanced spectrum and broader frequency band. A mathematical model is elaborated for a thermoelastic infinite body with a spherical cavity.A generalized set of governing equations is formulated in the context of three different models of thermoelasticity:the Biot model,also known as“coupled thermoelasticity”model;the Lord-Shulman model,also referred to as“generalized thermoelasticity with one-relaxation time”approach;and the Green-Lindsay model,also called“generalized thermoelasticity with two-relaxation times”approach.The Adomian’s decomposition method is used to solve the related mathematical problem.The bounding plane of the cavity is subjected to harmonic thermal loading with zero heat flux and strain.Numerical results for the temperature,radial stress,strain,and displacement are represented graphically.It is shown that the angular thermal load and the relaxation times have significant effects on all the studied fields. 展开更多
