Schisandrae Fructus, containing schisandrin B (Sch B) as its main active component, is recognized in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for its Qi-invigorating properties in the five visceral organs. Our laboratory has shown that the Qi-invigorating action of Chinese tonifying herbs is linked to increased mitochondrial ATP generation and an enhancement in mitochondrial glutathione redox status. To explore whether Sch B can exert Qi-invigorating actions across various tissues, we investigated the effects of Sch B treatment on mitochondrial ATP generation and glutathione redox status in multiple mouse tissues ex vivo. In line with TCM theory, which posits that Zheng Qi generation relies on the Qi function of the visceral organs, we also examined Sch B’s impact on natural killer cell activity and antigen-induced splenocyte proliferation, both serving as indirect measures of Zheng Qi. Our findings revealed that Sch B treatment consistently enhanced mitochondrial ATP generation and improved mitochondrial glutathione redox status in mouse tissues. This boost in mitochondrial function was associated with stimulated innate and adaptive immune responses, marked by increased natural killer cell activity and antigen-induced T/B cell proliferation, potentially through the increased generation of Zheng Qi. 展开更多

We chose a definition of heatwaves (HWs) that has ~4-year recurrence frequency at world hot spots. We first examined the 1940-2022 HWs climatology and trends in lifespan, severity, spatial extent, and recurrence frequency. HWs are becoming more frequent and more severe for extratropical mid- and low-latitudes. To euphemize HWs, we here propose a novel clean energy-tapping concept that utilizes the available nano-technology, micro-meteorology knowledge of temperature distribution within/without buildings, and radiative properties of earth atmosphere. The key points for a practical electricity generation scheme from HWs are defogging, insulation, and minimizing the absorption of infrared downward radiation at the cold legs of the thermoelectric generators. One sample realization is presented which, through relay with existing photovoltaic devices, provides all-day electricity supply sufficient for providing air conditioning requirement for a residence (~2000-watt throughput). The provision of power to air conditioning systems, usually imposes a significant stress on traditional city power grids during heatwaves. 展开更多

In order to provide a guidance to specify the element size dynamically during adaptive finite element mesh generation, adaptive criteria are firstly defined according to the relationships between the geometrical features and the elements of 3D solid. Various modes based on different datum geometrical elements, such as vertex, curve, surface, and so on, are then designed for generating local refined mesh. With the guidance of the defmed criteria, different modes are automatically selected to apply on the appropriate datum objects to program the element size in the local special areas. As a result, the control information of element size is successfully programmed covering the entire domain based on the geometrical features of 3D solid. A new algorithm based on Delatmay triangulation is then developed for generating 3D adaptive finite element mesh, in which the element size is dynamically specified to catch the geometrical features and suitable tetrahedron facets are selected to locate interior nodes continuously. As a result, adaptive mesh with good-quality elements is generated. Examples show that the proposed method can be successfully applied to adaptive finite element mesh automatic generation based on the geometrical features of 3D solid. 展开更多

The size of pitch angle is adjusted in time to improve the perfomance of power control. The PID parameters are corrected by the gradient descent method, and Radial Basis Functiion (RBF) neural network is used as the system identifier in this method. Sinlation results show that by using neural network adaptive PID controller the generator power control can inhibit effectively the speed and affect the output prover of generator. The dynamic performnce and robustness of the controlled system is good, and the peformance of wind power system is improved. 展开更多

Disadvantage of the mentioned item calibration method is the item exposure; when test items become familiar to the examinees. To reduce the item exposure, automatic item generation method is used, where item models are being constructed based on already calibrated test items without losing already estimated item parameters. A technic of item model extraction method from the already calibrated and therefore exposed test items described, which can be used by the test item development specialists to integrate automatic item generation principles with the existing testing applications. 展开更多

AIM:To address the challenges of data labeling difficulties,data privacy,and necessary large amount of labeled data for deep learning methods in diabetic retinopathy(DR)identification,the aim of this study is to develop a source-free domain adaptation(SFDA)method for efficient and effective DR identification from unlabeled data.METHODS:A multi-SFDA method was proposed for DR identification.This method integrates multiple source models,which are trained from the same source domain,to generate synthetic pseudo labels for the unlabeled target domain.Besides,a softmax-consistence minimization term is utilized to minimize the intra-class distances between the source and target domains and maximize the inter-class distances.Validation is performed using three color fundus photograph datasets(APTOS2019,DDR,and EyePACS).RESULTS:The proposed model was evaluated and provided promising results with respectively 0.8917 and 0.9795 F1-scores on referable and normal/abnormal DR identification tasks.It demonstrated effective DR identification through minimizing intra-class distances and maximizing inter-class distances between source and target domains.CONCLUSION:The multi-SFDA method provides an effective approach to overcome the challenges in DR identification.The method not only addresses difficulties in data labeling and privacy issues,but also reduces the need for large amounts of labeled data required by deep learning methods,making it a practical tool for early detection and preservation of vision in diabetic patients. 展开更多

To address the difficulty of training high-quality models in some specific domains due to the lack of fine-grained annotation resources, we propose in this paper a knowledge-integrated cross-domain data generation method for unsupervised domain adaptation tasks. Specifically, we extract domain features, lexical and syntactic knowledge from source-domain and target-domain data, and use a masking model with an extended masking strategy and a re-masking strategy to obtain domain-specific data that remove domain-specific features. Finally, we improve the sequence generation model BART and use it to generate high-quality target domain data for the task of aspect and opinion co-extraction from the target domain. Experiments were performed on three conventional English datasets from different domains, and our method generates more accurate and diverse target domain data with the best results compared to previous methods. 展开更多

For a spherical four-bar linkage,the maximum number of the spherical RR dyad(R:revolute joint)of five-orientation motion generation can be at most 6.However,complete real solution of this problem has seldom been studied.In order to obtain six real RR dyads,based on Strum's theorem,the relationships between the design parameters are derived from a 6th-degree univariate polynomial equation that is deduced from the constraint equations of the spherical RR dyad by using Dixon resultant method.Moreover,the Grashof condition and the circuit defect condition are taken into account.Given the relationships between the design parameters and the aforementioned two conditions,two objective functions are constructed and optimized by the adaptive genetic algorithm(AGA).Two examples with six real spherical RR dyads are obtained by optimization,and the results verify the feasibility of the proposed method.The paper provides a method to synthesize the complete real solution of the five-orientation motion generation,which is also applicable to the problem that deduces to a univariate polynomial equation and requires the generation of as many as real roots. 展开更多

At present, the major drawback for mobile phones is the issue of power consumption. As one of the alternatives to decrease the power consumption of standard, power-hungry location-based services usually require the knowledge of how individual phone features consume power. A typical phone feature is that the applications related to multimedia streaming utilize more power while receiving, processing, and displaying the multimedia contents, thus contributing to the increased power consumption. There is a growing concern that current battery modules have limited capability in fulfilling the long-term energy need for the progress on the mobile phone because of increasing power consumption during multimedia streaming processes. Considering this, in this paper, we provide an offline meaning sleep-mode method to compute the minimum power consumption comparing with the power-on solution to save power by implementing energy rate adaptation(RA) mechanism based on mobile excess energy level purpose to save battery power use. Our simulation results show that our RA method preserves efficient power while achieving better throughput compared with the mechanism without rate adaptation(WRA). 展开更多

Considering comprehensive benefit of micro-grid system and consumers,we establish a mathematical model with the goal of the maximum consumer satisfaction and the maximum benefit of power generation side in the view of energy management.An improved multi-objective local mutation adaptive quantum particle swarm optimization(MO-LM-AQPSO)algorithm is adopted to obtain the Pareto frontier of consumer satisfaction and the benefit of power generation side.The optimal solution of the non-dominant solution is selected with introducing the power shortage and power loss to maximize the benefit of power generation side,and its reasonableness is verified by numerical simulation.Then,translational load and time-of-use electricity price incentive mechanism are considered and reasonable peak-valley price ratio is adopted to guide users to actively participate in demand response.The simulation results show that the reasonable incentive mechanism increases the benefit of power generation side and improves the consumer satisfaction.Also the mechanism maximizes the utilization of renewable energy and effectively reduces the operation cost of the battery. 展开更多

The setting work of backup protection using steady-state current is tedious,and mismatches occasionally occur due to the increased proportion of distributed generations(DGs)connected to the power grid.Thus,there is a practical need to study a backup protection technology that does not require step-by-step setting and can be adaptively coordinated.This paper proposes an action sequence adaptive to fault positions that uses only positive sequence fault component(PSFC)voltage.Considering the influence of DGs,the unified time dial setting can be obtained by selecting specific points.The protection performance is improved by using the adjacent upstream and downstream protections to meet the coordination time interval in the case of metallic faults at the near-and far-ends of the line.Finally,the expression and implementation scheme for inverse-time backup protection(ITBP)based on the unified characteristic equation is given.Simulation results show that this scheme can adapt to DG penetration scenarios and can realize the adaptive coordination of multi-level relays. 展开更多

A Simplified Grey Wolf Optimizer(SGWO)is suggested for resolving optimization tasks.The simplification in the original Grey Wolf Optimizer(GWO)method is introduced by ignoring the worst category wolves while giving priority to the better wolves during the search process.The advantage of the presented SGWO over GWO is a better solution taking less execution time and is demonstrated by taking unimodal,multimodal,and fixed dimension test functions.The results are also contrasted to the Gravitational Search Algorithm,the Particle Swarm Optimization,and the Sine Cosine Algorithm and this shows the superiority of the proposed SGWO technique.Practical application in a Distributed Power Generation System(DPGS)with energy storage is then considered by designing an Adaptive Fuzzy PID(AFPID)controller using the suggested SGWO method for frequency control.The DPGS contains renewable generation such as photovoltaic,wind,and storage elements such as battery and flywheel,in addition to plug-in electric vehicles.It is demonstrated that the SGWO method is superior to the GWO method in the optimal controller design task.It is also seen that SGWO based AFPID controller is highly efficacious in regulating the frequency compared to the standard PID controller.A sensitivity study is also performed to examine the impact of the unpredictability in the parameters of the investigated system on system performance.Finally,the novelty of the paper is demonstrated by comparing with the existing publications in an extensively used two-area test system. 展开更多

We report efficient power scaling of the laser output with an adaptive bemn profile from an Nd:YAG dual-cavity master oscillator using a three-stage end-pumped Nd:YVO4 amplifier. We succeed ill the last switching of an excited laser mode by modulating an acousto-optic modulator loss in a dual-cavity master oscillator, thereby achieving temporal modulation of the output beam profile. The outputs from the master oscillator are amplified via a three-stage power amplifier yielding 36.6, 40.5, and 45.4 W of the maximum output at 116.8 W of incident pump power for the transverse electromagnetic, Laguerre-Gaussian, and quasi-top-hat beam, respectively. The prospects for further power scaling and applications via the dual-cavity master-oscillator power-amplifier (MOPA) system are considered. 展开更多

Solution-driven mesh adaptation is becoming quite popular for spatial error control in the numerical simulation of complex computational physics applications,such as climate modeling.Typically,spatial adaptation is achieved by element subdivision (h adaptation) with a primary goal of resolving the local length scales of interest.A sec- ond,less-popular method of spatial adaptivity is called'mesh motion'(r adaptation); the smooth repositioning of mesh node points aimed at resizing existing elements to capture the local length scales.This paper proposes an adaptation method based on a combination of both element subdivision and node point repositioning (rh adaptation). By combining these two methods using the notion of a mobility function,the proposed approach seeks to increase the flexibility and extensibility of mesh motion algorithms while providing a somewhat smoother transition between refined regions than is pro- duced by element subdivision alone.Further,in an attempt to support the requirements of a very general class of climate simulation applications,the proposed method is de- signed to accommodate unstructured,polygonal mesh topologies in addition to the most popular mesh types. 展开更多

One oscillatory network is design... This work concerns biped adaptive walking control on irregular terrains with online trajectory generation. A new trajectory generation method is proposed based on two neural networks. One oscillatory network is designed to generate foot trajectory, and another set of neural oscillators can generate the trajectory of Center of Mass (CoM) online. Using a motion engine, the characteristics of the workspace are mapped to the joint space. The entraining property of the neural oscillators is exploited for adaptive walking in the absence of a priori knowledge of walking conditions. Sensory feedback is applied to modify the gen- erated trajectories online to improve the walking quality. Furthermore, a staged evolutionary algorithm is developed to tune system parameters to improve walking performance. The developed control strategy is tested using a humanoid robot on ir- regular terrains. The experiments verify the success of the presented strategy. A thermoelectric generation(TEG)system has the weakness of relatively low thermoelectric conversion efficiency caused by heterogeneous temperature distribution(HgTD).Dynamic reconfiguration is an effective technique to improve its overall energy efficiency under HgTD.Nevertheless,numerous combinations of electrical switches make dynamic reconfiguration a complex combinatorial optimization problem.This paper aims to design a novel adaptive coordinated seeker(ACS)based on an optimal configuration strategy for large-scale TEG systems with series-paral-lel connected modules under HgTDs.To properly balance global exploration and local exploitation,ACS is based on'divide-and-conquer'parallel computing,which synthetically coordinates the local searching capability of tabu search(TS)and the global searching capability of a pelican optimization algorithm(POA)during iterations.In addition,an equivalent re-optimization strategy for a reconfiguration solution obtained by meta-heuristic algorithms(MhAs)is proposed to reduce redundant switching actions caused by the randomness of MhAs.Two case studies are carried out to assess the feasibility and superiority of AcS in comparison with the artificial bee colony algorithm,ant colony optimization,genetic algorithm,particle swarm optimization,simulated annealing algorithm,TS,and POA.Simulation results indicate that ACS can realize fast and stable dynamic reconfiguration of a TEG system under HgTDs.In addition,RTLAB platform-based hardware-in-the-loop experiments are carried out to further validate the hardware implemen-tation feasibility. 展开更多

Group communication is widely used by most of the emerging network applications like telecommunication,video conferencing,simulation applications,distributed and other interactive systems.Secured group communication plays a vital role in case of providing the integrity,authenticity,confidentiality,and availability of the message delivered among the group members with respect to communicate securely between the inter group or else within the group.In secure group communications,the time cost associated with the key updating in the proceedings of the member join and departure is an important aspect of the quality of service,particularly in the large groups with highly active membership.Hence,the paper is aimed to achieve better cost and time efficiency through an improved DC multicast routing protocol which is used to expose the path between the nodes participating in the group communication.During this process,each node constructs an adaptive Ptolemy decision tree for the purpose of generating the contributory key.Each of the node is comprised of three keys which will be exchanged between the nodes for considering the group key for the purpose of secure and cost-efficient group communication.The rekeying process is performed when a member leaves or adds into the group.The performance metrics of novel approach is measured depending on the important factors such as computational and communicational cost,rekeying process and formation of the group.It is concluded from the study that the technique has reduced the computational and communicational cost of the secure group communication when compared to the other existing methods. 展开更多
