The surface of the glass frits was modified with polyvinyl-pyrrolidone(PVP) before the electroless plating proc...A simple electroless plating process was employed to prepare silver-coated glass frits for solar cells. The surface of the glass frits was modified with polyvinyl-pyrrolidone(PVP) before the electroless plating process. Infrared(IR) spectroscopy,field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM), and x-ray diffraction(XRD) were used to characterize the PVP modified glass frits and investigate the mechanism of the modification process. It was found that the PVP molecules adsorbed on the glass frit surface and reduced the silver ions to the silver nanoparticles. Through epitaxial growth, these nanoparticles were uniformly deposited onto the surface of the glass frit. Silicon solar cells with this novel silver coating exhibited a photoelectric conversion efficiency increase of 0.33%. Compared with the electroless plating processes, this method provides a simple route to prepare silver-coated glass frits without introducing impurity ions.展开更多
The optical embedded diffraction gratings with the internal refractive index modification in BK-7 glass plates were demonstrated using low-density plasma formation excited by a high-intensity femtosecond (130 fs) Ti...The optical embedded diffraction gratings with the internal refractive index modification in BK-7 glass plates were demonstrated using low-density plasma formation excited by a high-intensity femtosecond (130 fs) Ti: sapphire laser (λp=790 rim). The refractive index modifications with diameters ranging from 400 nm to 4 gm were photoinduced after plasma formation occurred upon irradiation with peak intensities of more than 1 ×10^13 W/cm2. The graded refractive index profile was fabricated to be a symmetric around the center of the point at which low-density plasma occurred. The maximum refractive index change (An) was estimated to be 1.5x10 2. Several optical embedded gratings in BK-7 glass plate were demonstrated with refractive index modification induced by the scanning of low-density plasma formation.展开更多

The read-out system is based on a semi-digital system and, therefore, the charge information from GRPC is...A gas detector glass resistivity plate chamber (GRPC) is proposed for use in the hadron calorimeter (HCAL). The read-out system is based on a semi-digital system and, therefore, the charge information from GRPC is needed. To better understand the charge that comes out from the GRPC, we started from a cosmic ray test to get the charge distribution. We then studied the induced charge distribution on the collection pad. After successfully comparing it with the prototype beam test data at CERN (European Council for Nuclear Research), the process was finally implanted into the Geant4 based simulation for future study.展开更多
