A Survey of English Majors'Chinese Culture Learning and Teaching Strategies in the Context of Culture Going Out

At present,there is a serious phenomenon of"Chinese cultural aphasia"in English teaching for English majors in Colleges and universities,and Chinese cultural knowledge has not received due attention in foreign language teaching.Therefore,in the context of culture going out,the author conducts a research on the current situation of Chinese culture learning and teaching strategies of English majors.Relevant research shows that solving these problems can be solved by rationally dealing with the relationship between Chinese culture and Western culture,enriching the cultural reserves of college English teachers,creating a Chinese cultural learning environment and improving students'intercultural communication skills.In addition,the Chinese cultural literacy of English teachers should be promoted to explore the teaching methods of diversified Chinese cultural resources.

The“going global”of Chinese Fantasy Fiction through the Internet:Using I Shall Seal the Heavens on Wuxiaworld.com as an Example

In the 21st century,Chinese online fantasy fiction is gaining popularity overseas.Lai Jingping,a Chinese-American widely known online as RWX,inspired by the popularity of his translation of a Chinese fantasy fiction,Coiling Dragon,established a website called Wuxiaworld.com to disseminate Chinese fantasy culture.Now it has become the largest website in the world to translate these kinds of works.This paper,in order to explore the advantages of Wuxiaworld.com,examines the translation landscape and its trends as presented on this website,and further analyzes the translation of fiction and interactive platforms using I Shall Seal the Heavens,one of the stories on the website,as an example.Our study,through text analysis and data collection,found that Wuxiaworld.com is good at hyperlink-aided translations,and has translation awareness based on the analysis of covers,synopses and glossaries;foreignization is the main translation strategy when it comes to the fantasy terms in I Shall Seal the Heavens,while annotation in text as well as hyperlinks in the forms of text,pictures and music are adopted for cultural compensation;interactive platforms,such as comments,forums and announcements,are conducive to improving translation quality and stimulating readers’enthusiasm for these translations and Chinese culture.

Etiology and resistance of asymptomatic bacteriuria isolates among school going children in Sanadaj-Iran

Objective:The objective of this study was to determine the etiology and antimicrobial susceptibility patterns of asymptomatic bacteriuria pathogens isolated among school going children in Sanandaj,Iran.Methods:A total of 1 457 urine samples of 5 to 10 years children from forty different schools of Sanandaj city were screened to see asymptomatic bacteriuria during November 2007 to June 2008.Results:Bacterial colony count of over (105) colony forming units CFU/ mL were found in 28(1.90%) of total cases,with 767(52.64%) girls and 690(47.35%) boys.The highest class-specific prevalence was found in the fourth standard(2.8%) and the lowest in the first standard(1.0%).The dominant bacterial isolates were E.coli 20(74.1%),followed by Klebsiella pneumoniae 04(14.8%) and Staphylococcus aureus 04(14.8%).Cefotaxime,Cefixime,Kanamycin, Co-trimoxazole,nalidicxic acid,nitrofurantoin and Amoxicillin,resistance rates were above 90.0%. Ceftriaxone expressed the highest susceptibility among E.coli isolates.Surprisingly,S.aureus showed 100. 0%resistance to oxacillin.Conclusion:In the present study in which Escherichia coli is the most frequently incriminated as the causative agents.The results show a very serious antibiotic resistance of E.coli isolated. Surveillance and monitoring studies will be essential in preventing of renal scarring or other abnormalities.

The Comparison of Chinese and Western Cultures from the Perspective of Chinese Culture “Going Global”: With Confucius and Socrates’ Thoughts as Examples

Chinese culture “going global” is an inevitable requirement for China’s economic and social development.As an important part of Chinese traditional culture,the dissemination of Confucian thought is just the spread of Chinese culture.Therefore,the spread of Chinese Confucian thought abroad is also the key to Chinese culture “going global”.However,there are some cultural hinders between China and the West due to the differences in cultures.On the basis of summarizing Confucius and Socrates’ thoughts,this paper analyzes their essence of thoughts by contrast,which represent the eastern and Western cultures respectively.From the perspective of cross-cultural communication,the paper adopts the methods of multiculturalism,criticism and down-to-earth attitudes to deal with Chinese and Western cultures in order to make Chinese go global and share China’s wisdom with the world.

On the Strategic Paths of the Going Global Strategy of Chinese Literature

The going global strategy of Chinese literature is a vital part of the going global strategy of Chinese culture. In recent years,the Chinese government has launched and strongly supported a series of activities and projects to promote this strategy,but little effect has been produced. In spite of its acknowledged achievements and contributions in recent years,it is still necessary to review the diplomacy of Chinese culture going global.Approached from the perspective of cognition and affection,the main reason leading to the low efficiency of Chinese official cross-cultural communication is that the collectivism implied in the governmental institutes is in conflict with the individualism schema in Western mainstream discourse,making it difficult to invoke empathy from Western audience.By contrast,some popular culture spread through the Internet is empathy-provoking only because it contains two schemata of nostalgia and individualism that have been embedded in many Western netizens’cognition.In other words,popular culture has little communicating power to transmit the essence of Chinese culture.Given the limitations of these two ways,China should at least make adjustments on four aspects to improve the effect of its culture going out:(1)integrate more mutually shared schemata into the selected Chinese culture;(2)modernize the cultural contents and transmission methods;(3)reduce the role of the government and insist on diversifying and individualizing communication subjects;(4)encourage the creation of fine culture.

The analysis of determinants of going concern audit report

Going concern is one of essential things for user to make a financial decision. This research aims to explore factors that caused the issuance of going concern audit report by auditor. This research adds two new variables, audit size and audit committee, besides the other factors that cause auditor issue a going concern audit report. This research uses a regression logistic analysis to determine the relationship of each variable （liquidity, solvability, profitability, cash flow, audit firm size and audit committee） to going concern audit report. Different from previous researches, the results of this research show that liquidity, profitability, cash flow, and audit committee are not significant to influence the issuance of audit opinion. Audit size has a more significant relationship to audit opinion, while solvability is the most significant factor.
