Design and Validity Study on Oral English Assessment in Graduate Students

To explore the adoption of formative assessment in oral English test Validity study of oral test scores was performed in PhD candidates of 2011.Through linear relevance analysis,it is concluded that the relevance coefficient between oral score and overall score is 0.751 (P <0.001),the relevance coefficient between oral score and listening score is 0.530 (P <0.001),and the results indicate overall score and listening score have a positive relevancy with oral score.The result showed a positive correlation of oral test scores with written examination scores.Questionnaires modeled with the 5-point Likert Scale revealed a moderate supportive attitude of students on this formative assessment.The results are:80.1% of students indicated they feel satisfied and very satisfied with such oral English evaluation form,77.9% of students consider this oral score reflects their real oral English proficiency.This indicates that most students feel satisfied about the form and score in this oral exam.Through effective combination between formative evaluation method and summative evaluation method,it can effectively coordinate the relation between teaching and learning in oral English teaching practice,stimulate students'study initiative,and play a positive role in improving students'overall oral English proficiency.

An Exploration of the Current Business English Teaching at the Post-graduate Level in China

In China,the past two decades has witnessed the flourishing of Business English (BE) as a course or even a separated discipline in colleges and universities.Researches on BE and BE Teaching have also flourished in an attempt to formulate a coherent theoretical framework and to improve the present BE Teaching system.However,most of such researches focus on BE Teaching at the college level.The present thesis is to explore the present BE Teaching situation at the post-graduate level in several universities in China and point out some practical problems existing in the current BE Teaching at the post-graduate level with a purpose that the academic world could attach more attention to BE Teaching at the post-graduate level in China.

Post Adaptability of Graduates-A Case Study of Business English Majors from H University

In recent years,the number of graduates in employment has increased significantly because of a boom in the number of graduates along with the advancement of the Enrollment Expansion Plan of Colleges and Universities in China.The issues about career selection and graduate employment have been enthusiastically discussed in academic circles as these issues are constantly emphasized by all walks of life.However,academic researchers often neglect matters pertaining graduates when they are already holding positions.This study believes that being employed is not the end point,but a new start,which means that matters pertaining graduates after being employed should also be cared about.This study specifically focuses on the post adaptability of graduates after being employed.In this study,through questionnaires,a number of employed Business English majors from the graduating class of 2011 to 2016 at H university in Shaanxi Province were selected.After that,using the variables from The Fitness Subscale of Adolescent Mental Health Quality Questionnaire,the participants5 post adaptability was studied.

Cultivation of Innovation Consciousness in English Graduation Thesis

This paper starts with the analysis of the lack of students'innovation consciousness in the topic selection,and aims to improve the teachers cultivation of students innovation consciousness in the process of students topic selection.Five guidelines:guide students to bring forth new ideas in“minor topic selection”,combine with the practical situation of the major,seek for innovation in the intersection of multiple disciplines,seek for innovation in previous research problems and seek for innovation in problem discussion.

An Investigation into the Abstract in the Graduation Theses of English majors

As one of the most important sections of the paper, the abstract should be viewed as a mini-version of the paper. This paper aims to analysis the abstract in the graduation theses of English majors from the perspective of the macrostructure. The finding shows that incomplete macro-structural units of the Introduction-Methods-Results-Discussion/Conclusions and failure to meet the word limit and paragraphing are the main problems. Suggestions as how to write the abstract of the paper are also attempted in the last part of this paper.

多措并举的教学改革探索与实践——记郑州大学研究生全英语教学课程“现代合成化学与应用”

探索高效的研究生课程教学改革,对于提高研究生培养质量具有重要的意义。参照国际一流大学一流学科的研究生培养方案,基于国家世界一流大学建设高校研究生培养模式改革,切实提高研究生教育国际化办学水平,结合“现代合成化学与应用”课程在教学中的探索与实践,总结出一套立足全英教学、模块化课程内容、拓展教学资源、丰富教学形式的多措并举的课程改革方案,并将课程思政融入课堂,以期为其他学科的相关研究提供参考。

《高等桥梁结构理论》英文版教材建设及教学实践

高等桥梁结构理论课程一直是桥梁工程专业研究生的必修课程,也是针对留学生开放的专业课程。从2017—2018学年第一学期开始全英文授课,面向国际学生以及选择英文学习的国内学生。高等桥梁结构理论的英文版教材Advanced Theory of Bridge Structures是在中文版基础上内容适当取舍,主干内容不变,并结合教学课时和教学实践编写的全英文教材。该文首先介绍原中文版课程及教材背景,重点对英文版教材的编写思路、目录编排、选材内容特点等进行较为详细的叙述。同时,经过几年的英文版教学实践,该文也介绍英文版教学在课程建设和学生能力提升等方面的进展情况。

“环境遥感”全英文教学模式设计与评价

非英语专业全英文教学是我国高等教育国际化战略中的重要环节。目前,针对地理信息和遥感科学全英文课程的学生反馈调查研究较少。对地理信息研究生的专业课“环境遥感”进行全英文教学模式改革,在2021和2022年课程开始前和结束后对学生进行问卷调查。课前调查的结果显示仅有28.21%的学生认为有必要开设全英文遥感类课程,并表达了对全英文授课的担心。提出“二八全英文教学法”,即80%的课程内容全英文讲授,对于教学难点先用英语进行概述再用中文解释。通过学习“环境遥感”全英文课程,认为有必要进行全英文授课的学生升至90%,“环境遥感”全英文教学模式值得其他非英语专业课程借鉴。

经济全球化与区域经济一体化显著促进了高等教育的国际化。如何培养一批谙熟国际规则,具有良好沟通能力和宽厚基础知识,以及符合科学技术发展技术方向的国际化创新人才,是高校研究生教育迫切需要解决的问题。中国石油大学(北京)为提升石油人才培养的国际化水平,在地球物理学院开设了硕士研究生全英文课程国际班,制订了国际化与本土化相统一的人才培养方案,推进了研究生教育模式国际化改革,建立了海外优质资源与校内海归青年教师相结合的全英文教学团队,显著提高了校内教学与科研环境的国际化水平。

基于OBE理念医学院校研究生英语课程思政教学模式研究

新医科背景下的研究生英语课程,承担着英语专业技能教育和隐性课程思政教育的重任。以2022级120名研究生英语学生为研究对象,其中实验班60人,采用OBE理念研究生英语课程思政教学模式;对照班60人,采取传统的教学模式。根据考核结果、问卷调查情况分析两种教学模式的效果。研究表明,OBE理念引入研究生英语课程思政建设具有重要现实意义,为推动英语学科的课程思政教学改革,提供了有益探索。

地方本科高校研究生公共英语教学现状、问题与改革路径

研究生公共英语教材使用现状及对策研究

教材是外语教学中看得见的心脏,教材的选用不仅影响教师教学的开展,同时影响着学生的学习效果。本研究采用问卷调查、半结构访谈的方法调查了K大学215名2022级非英语专业硕士研究生《新一代大学英语》(发展篇)(综合教程2)教材使用情况,并探究教材评价的影响因素。调查结果显示:1)学生对《新一代大学英语》(发展篇)(综合教程2)非常满意,且认可其具有实用性,但应用性亟需加强;2)学生对课堂态度、认知策略的运用可以正向显著影响其对教材的态度。基于调查结果,建议使用《新一代大学英语》(发展篇)(综合教程2)教材的学生转变传统学习理念,积极参与课堂互动;教师积极打磨教材,转变课堂教学模式及加强认知策略讲授等。
