The Newton-Raphson method has been performed, known for its accuracy, under MATLAB software, to model and solve complex power flow equations. This study simulates a series of outage scenarios to evaluate the responsiveness of the grid. The results obtained underline the crucial importance of reactive power management and highlight the urgent need to consolidate the grid infrastructure of North Cameroon. To increase grid resilience and stability, the paper recommends the strategic integration of renewables and the development of interconnections with other power grids. Several methods are generally used to improve the voltage quality more and more. However, most of the means implemented depend on external factors independent of the network managers or require huge regular financial resources. The method used in this paper is the loopback, applied to the Southern Interconnected Grid (SIG) of Cameroon, which is the largest network in the country. The procedure used takes into account nodes experiencing huge voltage drops and network constraints. The chosen loopback scenario results in a clear improvement of the voltage plan in this network, and also a discharge of the transformers, a considerable decongestion of the lines, a reduction of the power losses and a significant reduction of the thermal placement used for improvement of the voltage profile.展开更多

Micro-grids, as localized energy hubs,...The transition to sustainable energy systems is one of the defining challenges of our time, necessitating innovations in how we generate, distribute, and manage electrical power. Micro-grids, as localized energy hubs, have emerged as a promising solution to integrate renewable energy sources, ensure energy security, and improve system resilience. The Autonomous multi-factor Energy Flow Controller (AmEFC) introduced in this paper addresses this need by offering a scalable, adaptable, and resilient framework for energy management within an on-grid micro-grid context. The urgency for such a system is predicated on the increasing volatility and unpredictability in energy landscapes, including fluctuating renewable outputs and changing load demands. To tackle these challenges, the AmEFC prototype incorporates a novel hierarchical control structure that leverages Renewable Energy Sources (RES), such as photovoltaic systems, wind turbines, and hydro pumps, alongside a sophisticated Battery Management System (BMS). Its prime objective is to maintain an uninterrupted power supply to critical loads, efficiently balance energy surplus through hydraulic storage, and ensure robust interaction with the main grid. A comprehensive Simulink model is developed to validate the functionality of the AmEFC, simulating real-world conditions and dynamic interactions among the components. The model assesses the system’s reliability in consistently powering critical loads and its efficacy in managing surplus energy. The inclusion of advanced predictive algorithms enables the AmEFC to anticipate energy production and consumption trends, integrating weather forecasting and inter-controller communication to optimize energy flow within and across micro-grids. This study’s significance lies in its potential to facilitate the seamless incorporation of RES into existing power systems, thus propelling the energy sector towards a more sustainable, autonomous, and resilient future. The results underscore the potential of such a system to revolutionize energy management practices and highlight the importance of smart controller systems in the era of smart grids.展开更多

The characteristics and dynamic developmentprocess of frequencies after the injection of disturbances areanalyzed. In addition, the actions and coordinated strategies ofvarious frequency control measures are also investigated. Basedon the testing projects of an asynchronous interconnection in theChina Southern Power Grid (CSG), the frequency features arestudied according to the measured PMU data. The outcome showsthat the frequency problem of the Yunnan Power Grid after anasynchronous interconnection can be solved and controlled. Italso shows that the frequency limit control (FLC) is importantfor the frequency regulation of large scale HVDC asynchronousinterconnected DC power grids. As demonstrated, DC FLC caneffectively suppress the deviation of the transient frequency. However, reasonable frequency regulation parameters shouldbe set and other area frequency control measures should becoordinated to maintain the frequency stability of the system.展开更多
