The Essence and Implementation of Ideological and Political Education within College English Curricula: A Grounded Theory Analysis

This study adopts the grounded theory approach to critically examine the essence and implementation of Ideological and Political Education(IPE)within college English curricula at Chinese Universities.We analyzed a corpus of 80 award-winning lesson plans from the“Teaching Star Competition”held by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press to establish specific constituents that comprise IPE and identify the instructional methodologies incorporated in the teaching process.The research shows that IPE strategically merges language proficiency training with civic education,aiming to cultivate a strong national identity,solid cultural pride,and global competencies.To be more detailed,the core categories of IPE encapsulate critical thinking,professional ethics,and cross-cultural communication skills,which are based on the innovative use of technological resources and adaptive pedagogical strategies.IPE has also elaborated on the comprehensive assessment mechanisms to measure cognitive and affective outcomes,making it a multidimensional activity.Following a three-stage coding process,this study aims to contribute to this discussion regarding ideological and political education integrated into Chinese higher education institutions.The finding and conclusion in this study drawn for future curriculum developments and reformulation of educational policy suggest ways IPE could better serve in fostering well-rounded individuals capable of contributing to national and global contexts.

Consumers'Purchase Intention of Geographical Indication Agricultural Products under the Background of Live-streaming Sales:An Exploratory Research Based on Grounded Theory

Exploring the mechanism for the formation of consumer purchase intentions of geographical indication agricultural products in the context of live-streaming sales can provide an important reference for brand marketing of geographical indication agricultural products.In this study,in-depth interviews were conducted with consumers of geographical indication agricultural products.Based on grounded theory,open coding,axial coding and selective coding were performed for interview text.Finally,21 concepts,7 subcategories and 3 main categories were obtained,and a model of the formation mechanism of the purchase intention of geographical indication agricultural products under the background of live-streaming sales was constructed,that is,"consumer cognition-consumer attitude-consumer behavior".Among them,consumer cognition includes two dimensions:the type of geographical indication agricultural products and the live-streaming appeal strategy,i.e.,the personal cognition of consumer and the promotion of live-streaming host's strategy.Consumer attitude is value perception of consumers,mainly including two dimensions of functional value and emotional value.Consumer behavior is the consumer's willingness to buy.It has been concluded that the types of geographical indication agricultural products interact with the live-streaming appeal strategies.Through the intermediary of consumers'value perception,consumers'purchase intention is generated.Among them,resource-oriented geographical indication agricultural products adopt rational live-streaming appeal strategies,which can enhance the consumer's perception of functional value,thereby promoting their purchase intention;and cultural and creative geographical indication agricultural products brands adopt perceptual live-streaming appeal strategies,which can enhance the emotional value perception of consumers,thereby promoting their purchase intention.

Process of becoming a mother in women receiving donated egg: Based on the grounded theory

Objective:To elucidate theoretically the safety and identity of mothers receiving egg and the process of becoming a mother.Methods:This study was conducted during 7 months from July 2018 to January 2019 by using a grounded theory approach.Infertile women at the gestational age who received oocyte were selected with purposive sampling method and then entered the study using theoretical sampling.Mothers who had not decided definitely to participate and had not started the treatment course yet were excluded from the study.The participating mothers were 28-44 years old with a mean age of(37.00±2.49)years.A total of 30 interviews were performed.Data were collected by unstructured deep interviews and field notes.The interview duration ranged between 19 to 74 min with a mean time of 40 min and they were performed individually.Results:Data analysis showed that"feeling of insecurity in personal and familial identity"formed in the context of"exposure to socio-cultural constraints"was the main problem of mothers receiving donated oocyte.This led to a set of coping strategies as"gradual acceptance","attempts to maintain the marital life","sensitivity in selecting donor","sensitivity in fetal care","seeking information and consultation","challenging the internal restlessness",and"treatment follow-up",all indicating the concept of"protection of personal and familial identity"as the core variable.Conclusions:The challenge faced by Iranian mothers receiving donated oocyte in the constrained sociocultural context forms a multilateral and all-inclusive insecurity.

Grounded theory qualitative approach from Foucault's ethical perspective:Deconstruction of patient self-determination in the clinical setting

This paper aims to explain the construction of the autonomous subject from Foucault's ethical perspective for the qualitative analysis of interprofessional relationships,patient-professional relationships,and moral ethics critique.Foucault tried to break loose from the self,which is merely the result of a biopol-itical subjectivation and constituted an interpersonal level.From this,different elements involved in the decision-making capacity of patients in a clinical setting were analysed.Firstly,the context in which decision-making occurs has been explained,distinguishing between traditional practices involved in self-care and the more modern conceptions that make certain possible transformations.Secondly,an attempt is made to explain the formation of the medicalisation of society using the transformations of what Foucault called"techniques of the self".Finally,the ethical framework for a subject's"self-creation",insisting more on the exercises of self-subjectivation,reinforcing the ethics of the self by itself,the"care of the self",has been explained.The role of the patient is understood as an autonomous subject to the extent that the clinical institution and the professionals involved comprehend how the patient’s autonomy in the clinical environment is constituted.All these elements could generate grounded theory on the qualitative methodology of this phenomenon.The current ethical model based on universal principles is not useful to provide a capacity for patients decision-making,relegating to the background their opinions and beliefs.Consequently,a new ethical perspective emerges that aims to return the patient to the fundamental axis of attention.

Intraoperative Care of the Conscious Patient from the Perspective of the Operating Theatre Nurse:A Grounded Theory

Introduction: Intraoperative care includes a unique knowledge of how to perform a safe and effective surgery procedure. Surgery performed under regional or local anaesthesia allows the patient to remain conscious during the procedure and is rather common in Swedish healthcare today. Aim: The aim was to obtain a deeper understanding of the main concerns of operating theatre nurses (OTN) when caring for conscious patients during the intraoperative phase. Methods: Interviews were conducted with 23 OTNs from five different hospitals in Sweden and analysed according to grounded theory. Findings: The main concern among the OTNs was to take the patient in consideration. The core category “achieve and maintain ethical treatment of patients” in the operating theatre (OT) was a strategy used throughout the intraoperative process. Ethical treatment was described as moral behaviour at different levels and included the team’s behaviour, respectful and individualised patientcare, and the working-morale of the professionals. Being vigilant and being flexible were the categories related to the core category. The OTNs constantly assessed where to pay most attention as they balanced between the needs of the patient, the team, and the surgery procedure. Conclusion: It is important that every patient is taken into consideration and that ethical principles are held to the highest standards in the OT. A familiar team can facilitate that. The complex skills that operating theatre nurses develop can be added to explain important competencies within the profession.

Establishing Patient Safety in Intensive Care—A Grounded Theory

Background: The modern intensive care unit (ICU) is a complex and high-risk environment, and even small adverse events and changes may deteriorate the patient’s conditions and eventually cause harm. Many factors can potentially be associated within an increased amount of errors, leading to adverse events. Nurses, nurse managers, and other leaders all play important roles in establishing patient safety. Aim: This study aimed to obtain a deeper understanding of leaders’ and nurses’ main concerns in establishing patient safety in Swedish intensive care units. Method: A grounded theory methodology was used. Data from 15 interviews with leaders and nurses involved in critical care in Sweden were collected, analysed and constant compared. Findings: The main concern in establishing patient safety was promoting quality of care, work engagement, and staffs well-being in strained ICUs. The core category building trust explained how the leaders’ and nurses’ strove for quality of care and wished a healthy, safe work environment. This is further explained in the categories “Being an accessible and able leader”, “Creating knowledge and understanding”, and “Establishing collaborative practice”. Conclusion: Establishing patient safety in the ICU requires that staffs enjoy going to work, have good work relations, are committed and want to stay at the unit. A healthy, salutogenetic unit with a work environment marked by trust provides a better opportunity to establish patient safety, and various leaders have potential to achieve this.

Supporting factors model for the sustainable step development of supply chain:An empirical study from China with grounded theory

The ongoing stability of supply chains faces significant challenges from trade protectionism,anti-globalization trends,and the COVID-19 pandemic.To remain resilient in this dynamic market environment,supply chains must evolve through iterative upgrades and transition to a higher level of sustainability,a process termed“step development.”The current literature,however,offers limited insights into achieving such step development in supply chain sustainability and its critical supporting elements.This study,grounded in theory,involved interviews with representatives from eight diverse Chinese enterprises.We introduce a model delineating supporting factors and a roadmap for Sustainable Step Development of Supply Chains(SSDSC).Our findings highlight three pivotal categories of support for SSDSC:institutional,technological,and social factors.Additionally,we observed that external influences in these categories positively modulate their internal counterparts.The study identifies industrial technology,digital intelligence technology,corporate responsibility,and stakeholder needs as key elements in this process.We conclude by offering theoretical and practical recommendations to foster SSDSC.

Establishment of an indicator framework for global One Health Intrinsic Drivers index based on the grounded theory and fuzzy analytical hierarchy-entropy weight method

Background:One Health has become a global consensus to deal with complex health problems.However,the pro‑gress of One Health implementation in many countries is still relatively slow,and there is a lack of systematic evalua‑tion index.The purpose of this study was to establish an indicator framework for global One Health Intrinsic Drivers index(GOH-IDI)to evaluate human,animal and environmental health development process globally.Method:First,82 studies were deeply analyzed by a grounded theory(GT)method,including open coding,axial coding,and selective coding,to establish a three-level indicator framework,which was composed of three selective codes,19 axial codes,and 79 open codes.Then,through semi-structured interviews with 28 health-related experts,the indicators were further integrated and simplifed according to the inclusion criteria of the indicators.Finally,the fuzzy analytical hierarchy process combined with the entropy weight method was used to assign weights to the indi‑cators,thus,forming the evaluation indicator framework of human,animal and environmental health development process.Results:An indicator framework for GOH-IDI was formed consisting of three selective codes,15 axial codes and 61 open codes.There were six axial codes for“Human Health”,of which“Infectious Diseases”had the highest weight(19.76%)and“Injuries and Violence”had the lowest weight(11.72%).There were four axial codes for“Animal Health”,of which“Animal Epidemic Disease”had the highest weight(39.28%)and“Animal Nutritional Status”had the low‑est weight(11.59%).Five axial codes were set under“Environmental Health”,among which,“Air Quality and Climate Change”had the highest weight(22.63%)and“Hazardous Chemicals”had the lowest weight(17.82%).Conclusions:An indicator framework for GOH-IDI was established in this study.The framework were universal,balanced,and scientifc,which hopefully to be a tool for evaluation of the joint development of human,animal and environmental health in diferent regions globally.

The Pursuit of Unhappiness:The Ground Theory to Explain Why People Choose to Be Unhappy Rather Than Happy

This article presents a ground theory to explain why some individuals choose to be unhappy rather than happy,supported by empirical data collected from a sample of 750 professionals in Greece’s public and private sectors.We begin by reviewing the existing literature on happiness and well-being,highlighting the debate between hedonic and eudaimonic perspectives.We then introduce our research questions and rationale,and describe our methods,sample,and psychometric tools used to measure happiness and other variables of interest.Our results indicate that various factors,including cultural influences,past experiences,and personal values,contribute to individuals’pursuit of unhappiness.We conclude with a thorough discussion of our results and their implications for future research and interventions aimed at promoting well-being.

Between the City and Images:An Analysis of Mainstream Media’s Paths of Constructing the Cultural Memory of a City:Taking Chengdu Radio and Television’s“Hi Chengdu”as an Example

Mainstream media play a crucial role in constructing the cultural memory of a city.This study used 319 short videos released by“Hi Chengdu,”a new media product of Chengdu Radio and Television,as samples.Based on the grounded theory,a research framework encompassing“content,technology,and discourse”was established to explore the paths through which mainstream media construct the cultural memory.Regarding content,this paper emphasized temporal and spatial contexts and urban spaces,delving deep into the themes of the cultural memory and vehicles for it.In terms of technology,this paper discussed the practice of leveraging audio/visual-mode discourse to stitch together the impressions of a city and evoke emotional resonance to create a“flow”of memory.As for discourse,this paper looked at the performance of a communication ritual to frame concepts and shape urban identity.It is essential to break free from conventional thinking and leverage local culture as the primary driving force to further boost a city’s productivity,in order to excel in cultural communication.

From Differential Mode of Association to Tianxia Worldview:A Study on Chinese Entrepreneurial Spirit

China has made significant strides in economic and social development since reform and opening up over the past four decades.This process has been influenced by the exceptional innovation and entrepreneurship of Chinese business leaders,as well as their profound sentiments of compassion for the world and their country.It is of great significance to foster and promote an entrepreneurial spirit with distinctive Chinese characteristics.Not only is such spirit essential to the high-quality development of enterprises and the economy,but it is also a critical impetus for achieving Chinese modernization.Nevertheless,there is still a paucity of adequate theoretical discourse on the cultural origins and entrepreneurial spirit of outstanding Chinese business leaders.This paper employs the classical grounded theory method to conduct a 10-year follow-up research on 11 representative entrepreneurs and their enterprises.The results indicate that these entrepreneurs exhibit an evolving worldview along the paths of“self-cultivation and moral conduct”,“assisting employees to achieve”,“multilateral symbiosis”,and“the oneness of existence”when interacting with themselves,employees,partners,the general public,and all things in nature.Such entrepreneurial spirit is embodied in this paper as the“Tianxia(all-under-heaven)worldview”.Through theoretical construction,this study defines the concept of“Tianxia worldview”and extensively examines the distinctions and connections between the broadminded“Tianxia worldview”and the kinship-centered“differential mode of association”in terms of internal structure,value orientation,and applicable groups.It is posited that the transition from the former to the latter is a continuous process of transcendence and evolution of the individual mindset.This study has theoretical significance in the context of advancing the research on the Chinese entrepreneurial spirit,transcending the constraints of the management approach based on the“differential mode of association”,and enhancing the research on social responsibility from the perspective of“benefit corporations”.It also has practical value in overcoming the trust dilemma and development impediment of family businesses,ensuring that enterprises consciously fulfill their social responsibilities in a broader social context,and achieving common prosperity and progress for both enterprises and society.

An Extended Fuzzy-DEMATEL System for Factor Analyses on Social Capital Selection in the Renovation of Old Residential Communities

China has been promoting the renovation of old residential communities vigorously.Due to the financial pressure of the government and the sustainability of the renovation of old residential communities,public-private partnerships(PPP)have already gained attention.The selection of social capital is key to improving the efficiency of the PPP model in renovating old residential communities.In order to determine the influencing factors of social capital selection in the renovation of old residential communities,this paper aims to find an effective approach and analyze these factors.In this paper,a fuzzy decision-making and trial evaluation laboratory(fuzzy-DEMATEL)technique is extended and amore suitable systemis developed for the selection of social capital using the existing group decisionmaking theory.In the first stage,grounded theory is used to extract the unabridged key influencing factors for social capital selection in the renovation of old residential communities.Secondly,by considering the impact of expert weights,the key influencing factors are identified.The interactions within these influencing factors are discussed and the credibility of the results is verified by sensitivity analysis.Finally,these key influencing factors are sorted by importance.Based on the results,the government should focus on a technical level,organizationalmanagement abilities,corporate reputation,credit status,etc.This study provides the government with a theoretical basis and a methodology for evaluating social capital selection.

Qualitative Exploration and Correction Strategies of the Criminal Psychological Mechanism of the Burglars

In order to explore the criminal psychological mechanism of burglars,this study adopts the qualitative research method of grounded theory to conduct in-depth interviews with 41 burglars in two prisons in Jiangxi Province,China.Nvivo 11.0 was used to code-construct and qualitatively analyze the interview content in order to refine the influencing factors and psychological evolution process of burglary behavior.Thefindings revealed that(1)burglary risk factors include burglary cognition,burglary motivation,burglary decision-making,delinquent peers,burglary opportunity,and incomplete reformation.(2)There are three stages in the psychological evolution pro-cess of burglars:cognitive formation,motivational dominance,and behavioral decision.(3)The interpretation of the criminal psychological mechanism of burglars is a comprehensive and dynamic outcome of the interaction of internal and external factors that shape the individual.Participants’inspection and non-participants’inspection were adapted to verify the research results’validity,which showed that the results were reliable.

Construction of Chaoshan Cuisine Culture Space

Chaoshan cuisine originates from the unique Chaoshan regional culture and has undergonethousands of years of sedimentation and development. Chaoshan cuisine has a wide range of ingredients,exquisite materials, emphasis on knife cutting, and a focus on freshness. It emphasizes the original taste anda clear and mellow taste, which is extremely characterized by Lingnan culture. In this paper, research dataare collected from social media and online comments, supplemented by targeted interviews, questionnaires,and other methods. It uses grounded theory for data analysis. Through the induction and summary ofopen coding, axial coding, and selective coding based on grounded theory, it summarizes the physical space,cultural space, spiritual cultural space, and communication space of Chaoshan cuisine culture.

论写作在定性资料分析中的创造性作用

定性资料分析在很大程度上仍然为实证科学写作观的阴云所笼罩,扎根理论方法在一定程度上突破了实证科学的写作观,让写作介入分析过程。但在分析性写作是否应该扮演创造性角色上,扎根理论方法的不同分支意见不一。在扎根理论方法的影响下,分析性写作在定性研究领域有所扩散,在形式上亦有所创新。但在扎根理论方法之外,分析性写作的影响依然有限,而写作在定性资料分析中的创造性角色也未得到充分的认识与实践。研究的创造性与写作活动中特定的身体感受有关。在定性资料分析中,写作之所以能够获得相对于阅读的独特创造力,就在于身体在更大程度上参与进来,而身体的“解放”带来了想象力的释放。

Research on the Path to Creating Home Gardening Brand Assets Based on Customers——A Case Study of Hongyue Garden Maker

In this paper,using the research method of grounded theory,with the competitive brand of home gardening—Hongyue Garden Maker as the specific object of study,we collect the data through interviews and surveys,conduct coding analysis step by step on the data,establish the brand asset creation path model consisting of some main dimensions including " brand salience"," brand performance"," brand image"," brand judgment"," brand feeling",and " brand resonance",and reveal the interaction and logical relationship between the above dimensions,so as to provide theoretical support for the asset creation of many kinds of home gardening and other brands.

Understanding Health Worker Perspectives on Risk Screening for HIV Testing—A Qualitative Study from Zimbabwe

Background: Zimbabwe recorded a 55% increase in HIV testing from 2011 to 2018 but with decreasing HIV-testing yields from 20% to 6% respectively as we aim to identify the narrowing gap of undiagnosed people living with HIV. As such adoption of screening tools during targeted HIV testing services improves efficiency by identifying individuals who are likely to test positive. Effective utilization of screening tools requires an understanding of health care worker perception and willingness to use the tools. Methods: We conducted a qualitative study among healthcare workers at 8 selected primary healthcare facilities in Zimbabwe. Interviewer-guided, in-depth interviews were conducted with healthcare workers and their immediate supervisors. Thematic analysis was performed following a framework built around the grounded theory model to describe perspectives that influence the utilization of HIV screening tools and suggestions for improved eligibility screening. Results: Behavioural factors facilitating the utilisation of the screening tool included motivation to adhere to standard practice, awareness of screening in targeting testing, and its ability to manage workload through screening out ineligible clients. This was evident across service delivery levels. Barriers included limited healthcare capacity, confidentiality space, multiple screening tools and opaque screening in/out criteria and the potential of clients not responding to screening questions truthfully. Conclusions: Across geographical and service delivery levels, placing screening tools at HIV testing entry points, healthcare worker knowledge on screening in/out criteria emerged as enablers for correct and consistent utilization. Further, standardizing the tools and adopting a decision aid algorithm would improve the accurate utilisation of screening tools.

This article introduces four noteworthy papers published in China's top journals in Summer 2021,all of which are phenomenon-driven and design-based case studies.The first paper employs a process tracing approach to analyze the failure of policy coordination based on an empirical case regarding the revision of the price catalog for basic medical services in Province F.The second paper develops a triple mechanism framework to account for the distortions in China's grassroots policies.With a most similar case design,the third paper proposes a typology framework for campaign-style environmental governance and compares the mobilization models for environmental governance.Based on a grounded theory approach,the final paper analyzes data from thirty-eight public crises cases to reveal the mechanism of political mobilization for emergency management.These studies explain clear theoretical puzzles brought about by practical problems,and they provide a sense of the research designs in the case studies.They show three types of case studies:(1)two single case studies,one with a process tracing approach and the other illustrating a developed theoretical framework,(2)a comparative case study,and(3)a multi-case study applying a grounded theory strategy.These studies provide enlightenment and lessons for future Chinese case studies.
