FPGA based hardware platform for trapped-ion-based multi-level quantum systems

We report a design and implementation of a field-programmable-gate-arrays(FPGA)based hardware platform,which is used to realize control and signal readout of trapped-ion-based multi-level quantum systems.This platform integrates a four-channel 2.8 Gsps@14 bits arbitrary waveform generator,a 16-channel 1 Gsps@14 bits direct-digital-synthesisbased radio-frequency generator,a 16-channel 8 ns resolution pulse generator,a 10-channel 16 bits digital-to-analogconverter module,and a 2-channel proportion integration differentiation controller.The hardware platform can be applied in the trapped-ion-based multi-level quantum systems,enabling quantum control of multi-level quantum system and highdimensional quantum simulation.The platform is scalable and more channels for control and signal readout can be implemented by utilizing more parallel duplications of the hardware.The hardware platform also has a bright future to be applied in scaled trapped-ion-based quantum systems. 展开更多

Design Method of an Ocean Induction Coupling Chain Communication System that Resists the Multipath Effect of a Seawater Channel

In this study,a mathematical model of multipath channels is established,and the delay parameters of 10-path models are calculated at 300 m.A multipath-channel hardware simulator based on a field programmable gate array(FPGA)is designed and verified at 100 k Hz,200 k Hz,500 k Hz,1 MHz,and 24 MHz transmission frequencies.According to the characteristics of the ocean induction coupling chain channel,the orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing(OFDM)algorithm parameters are designed by referring to the wireless communication protocol.The appropriate length cyclic prefix(CP)is added in the OFDM symbol to resist the multipath effect of the seawater channel,and the FPGA hardware transceiver based on the OFDM algorithm is realized.The hardware platform of the ocean induction coupling chain communication system is developed to resist the multipath effect of the seawater channel and tested at 24 MHz.The experimental results show that 800 ns is the best CP length for the developed system,which can effectively resist the multipath effect,with a signal-to-noise ratio above 24 d B and a bit error rate below 1%.This study provides a hardware simulation test platform and an effective method to resist the multipath effect of a seawater channel and improve the transmission performance of the seawater channel. 展开更多

To tackle challenges such as interference and poor accuracy of indoor positioning systems,a novel scheme based on ultra-wide bandwidth(UWB)technology is proposed.First,we illustrate a distance measuring method between two UWB devices.Then,a Taylor series expansion algorithm is developed to detect coordinates of the mobile node using the location of anchor nodes and the distance between them.Simulation results show that the observation error under our strategy is within 15 cm,which is superior to existing algorithms.The final experimental data in the hardware system mainly composed of STM32 and DW1000 also confirms the performance of the proposed scheme. 展开更多
