The rainy sea around Dongsha(hereafter simply referred to as Dongsha) near the north coast, and the rainless sea around Xisha(hereafter simply referred to as Xisha) in the western SCS, are selected as two typical research subregions. It is found that Dongsha, rather than Xisha, has an earlier and greater increase in precipitation after SCSSMO under the combined effect of strong low-level southwesterly winds, coastal terrain blocking and lifting, and northern cold air. When the 950-h Pa southwesterly winds enhance and advance northward, accompanied by strengthened moisture flux, there is a strong convergence of wind and moisture in Dongsha due to a sudden deceleration and rear-end collision of wind by coastal terrain blocking. Moist and warm advection over Dongsha enhances early and deepens up to 200 h Pa in association with the strengthened upward motion after SCSSMO, thereby providing ample moisture and heat to form strong precipitation. However, when the 950-h Pa southwesterly winds weaken and retreat southward, Xisha is located in a wind-break area where strong convergence and upward motion centers move in. The vertical moistening and heating by advection in Xisha enhance later and appear far weaker compared to that in Dongsha, consistent with later and weaker precipitation.展开更多

Anomalous circulation and the vertically integrated heat source with the vertical integrated moisture sink and outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) flux are examined based upon monthly composites for 16 great wet-spells and 8 great dry-spells over the middle-lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The wind anomaly exhibits prominent differences between the great wet-spell and the great dry-spell over the Yangtze River Valley. For the great wet-spell, the anomalous southerly from the Bay of Bengal and the South China Sea and the anomalous northerly over North China enhanced low-level convergence toward a narrow latitudinal belt area (the middle-lower reaches of the Yangtze River). The southerly anomaly is connected with an anticyclonic anomalous circulation system centered at 22 degreesN, 140 degreesE and the northerly anomaly is associated with a cyclonic anomalous circulation system centered at the Japan Sea. In the upper level, the anomalous northwesterly between an anticyclonic anomalous system with the center at 23 degreesN, 105 degreesE and a cyclonic anomalous system with the center at Korea diverged over the middle-lower reaches of the Yangtze River. On the contrary, for the great dry-spell, the anomalous northerly over South China and the anomalous southerly over North China diverged from the Yangtze River Valley in the low level. The former formed in the western part of a cyclonic anomalous system centered at 23 degreesN, 135 degreesE. The latter was located in the western ridge of an anticyclonic anomalous system in the northwestern Pacific. The upper troposphere showed easterly anomaly that converged over the middle-lower reaches of the Yangtze River. A cyclonic anomalous system in South China and an anticyclonic system centered in the Japan Sea enhanced the easterly. Large atmospheric heat source anomalies of opposite signs existed over the western Pacific - the South China Sea, with negative in the great wet-spell and positive in the great dry-spell. The analysis of heat source also revealed positive anomalous heat sources during the great wet-spell and negative anomalous heat sources during the great dry-spell over the Yangtze River valley. The changes of the moisture sink and OLR were correspondingly altered, implying the change of heat source anomaly is due to the latent heat releasing of convective activity. Over the southeastern Tibetan Plateau- the Bay of Bengal, the analysis of heat source shows positive anomalous heat sources during the great wet-spell and negative anomalous heat sources during the great dry-spell because of latent heating change. The change of divergent wind coexisted with the change of heat source. In the great wet-spell, southerly divergent wind anomaly in the low level and northerly divergent wind anomaly in high-level are seen over South China. These divergent wind anomalies are helpful to the low-level convergence anomaly and high-level divergence anomaly over the Yangtze River valley. The low-level northerly divergent wind anomaly and high-level southerly divergent wind anomaly over South China reduced the low-level convergence and high-level divergence over the Yangtze River valley during the great dry-spell.展开更多

During the CH Meiyu period, an intensive vertically-integrated heat source and moisture sink are predominant over the heavy rainfall area of the CH valley, accompanied by strong upward motion at 500 hPa. The heat and moisture budgets show that the main diabatic heating component is condensation latent heat released by rainfall. As residual terms, the evaporation and sensible heating are relatively small. Based on the vertical distribution of the heat source and moisture sink, the nature of the rainfall is mixed, in which the convective rainfall is dominant with a considerable percentage of continuous stratiform rainfall. There are similar time evolutions of the main physical parameters (〈Q 1〉, 〈Q 2〉, and vertical motion ω at 500 hPa). The time variations of 〈Q 1〉 and 〈Q 2〉 are in phase with those of −ω 500, and have their main peaks within the CH Meiyu period. This shows the influence of the heat source on the dynamic structure of the atmosphere. The wavelet analyses of those time series display similar multiple timescale characteristics. During the CH Meiyu period, both the synoptic scale(∼6 days) and mesoscale (∼2 days and ∼12 hours) increase obviously and cause heavy rainfall as well as the appearances of the maxima of the main physical parameters. Among them, the mesoscale systems are the main factors.展开更多

It is pointed out that, when the wind speed outside is high, or the air permeability is very good, the sweat of human body will evaporate mainly through turbulent diffusion. Because of the rapid sweat evaporation, human body will feel cold, and then, the difference in temperature and humidity of the micro - climatic section will be very slight. On the contrary, when the wind speed outside is slow or the air permeability is unsatisfactory, the sweat of human body will evaporate mainly through molecular diffusion, and in this case, the humidity of the micro - climatic section will be depended on the hygroscopicity of the fabric, that’ s to say, the better the hygroscopicity, the lower the humidity. It is difficult for pure wool fabric to loss heat because of its giving out much heat during the course of moisture - absorption in the initial stages of sweating. For pure polyester fabric,展开更多

The release of moisture increased during light periods probably due to increased activity which increased respiration rate but also on increased scratching which increased evaporation of moisture from bedding material. The daily average was 6.29 g henl h"l at 4 lux and 5.97 g henl hl, at 93 lux which corresponds to a difference of 5%. The level of light intensity seemed to have little influence on the release of moisture. The total release of heat was slightly higher during light periods compared to dark periods. Explanations can be increased activity but also feed intake increasing the metabolic rate during light periods. The daily average of total heat production was 17.0 W per hen at 4 lux and 14.7 at 93 lux which corresponds to a difference of 16%. The release of carbon dioxide increased during light periods probably due to increased activity and respiration.展开更多

Although the typical air movement inside building constructions is quite small (velocity is of order -10-5 m/s), this research shows the impact on the heat and moisture characteristics. The paper presents a case study on the modeling and simulation of 2D heat and moisture transport with and without air movement for a building construction using a state-of-art multiphysics FEM software tool. Most other heat and moisture related models don't include airflow or use a steady airflow through the construction during the simulation period. However, in this model, the wind induced pressure is dynamic and thus also the airflow through the construction is dynamic. For this particular case study, the results indicate that at the intemal surface, the vapor pressure is almost not influenced by both the 2D effect and the wind speed. The temperatures at the inner surface are mostly influenced by the 2D effect. Only at wind pressure differences above 30 Pa, the airflow has a significant effect. At the extemal surface, the temperatttres are not influenced by both the 2D effect and the wind speed. However, the vapor pressure seems to be quite dependent on the wind induced pressure. Overall it is concluded that air movement through building materials seems to have a significant impact on the heat and moisture characteristics. In order to verify this statement and validate the models, new in-depth experiments including air flow through materials are recommended.展开更多

文摘Using the summer (June to August) monthly mean data of the National Centers for Environmental Predictions (NCEP) - National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) reanalysis from 1980 to 1997, atmospheric heat sources and moisture sinks are calculated. The low-level northerly divergent wind anomaly and high-level southerly divergent wind anomaly over South China reduced the low-level convergence and high-level divergence over the Yangtze River valley during the great dry-spell.

文摘A new facility was presented which can expediently and cheaply measure the transient moisture content profile in multi-layer porous building envelope. Then,a common multi-layer porous building envelope was provided, which was constructed by cement mortar-red brick-cement plaster. With this kind of building envelope installed in the south wall,a well-controlled air-conditioning room was set up in Changsha, which is one of typical zones of hot and humid climate in China. And experiments were carried out to investigate the temperature and moisture distribution in multi-layer building envelope in summer, both in sunny day and rainy day.The results show that, the temperature and humidity at the interface between the brick and cement mortar are seriously affected by the changes of outdoor temperature and humidity, and the relative humidity at this interface keeps more than 80% for a long-term,which can easily trigger the growth of mould. The temperature and humidity at the interface between the brick and cement plaster change a little, and they are affected by the changes of indoor temperature and humidity. The temperature and humidity at the interface of the wall whose interior surface is affixed with a foam plastic wallpaper are generally higher than those of the wall without wallpaper. The heat transfer and moisture transfer in the envelope are coupled strongly.

文摘More and more people concern about supplementing dietary food with wheat bran to increase fibre content, but there has been little study of the sorption isotherms and isosteric heats of wheat bran fibre products, which are important to the quality and storage durability of such commodities. This study collected equilibrium moisture content(EMC)and equilibrium relative humidity(ERH)data on six Chinese wheat bran products via the static gravimetric method and analysed their sorption isosteric heats. Results showed that all six wheat bran products had sigmoidal isotherms. The data were best fitted by polynomial, modified GAB,modified Oswin, and modified Halsey models. The relative safe moisture contents of the six wheat bran products were 12.20%–13.86%wet basis(w.b.).The heat of vaporization of wheat bran products approached the latent heat of pure water at around a moisture content(MC)of 22.5%and approximately 2450 kJ/kg.A process of extrusion and ultrafine grinding reduced the solid surface area and sorption isosteric heats of the monolayer, multilayer and condensed water regions in the wheat bran products. In the temperature range of 10–37℃,the EMC of sorption in monolayer, multilayer and condensed water regions decreased with increasing temperature. The milled rice to which 1%–3%200-mesh wheat bran product was added maintained its texture when made into cooked rice and its thermomechanical properties when made into rice dough. After processing by extrusion and ultrafine grinding, wheat bran products have a lower solid surface area and lower monolayer water content(Mm)and sorption isosteric heat values. Some 3%200-mesh wheat bran product can be added to cooked rice for increasing its fibre content and making it more nutritious.

文摘In order to analyze the coupled influence of temperature and humidity on early-age concrete(including cement and copper tailings),a mathematical model is introduced on the basis of the Krstulovic-Dabic hydration reaction kinetic equations. In such a framework, the influence of hydration-released heat and water consumption are also taken into account. The results provided by such a model are verified by means of experiments and related sensor measurements. The research results show that this model can adequately predict the internal temperature and the humidity temporal evolution laws.
文摘The counter-gradient terms in the computations of turbulent fluxes of heat and moisture have been included in the PBL parameterization of a regional model for monsoon prediction. Results show that inclusion of counter-gradient terms has a marginal impact in the prediction of large scale monsoon circulation and rainfall rates.

文摘In seasonally frozen regions,freezing-and-thawing action is the main cause responsible for the destruction of canals, which is closely linked to the temperature gradient and water transport. To investigate the behaviour of soils under freezing-and-thawing actions, many numerical models have been established that consider the important coupling of moisture transport and temperature evolution;but they contain excessive parameters, some of which are rather difficult to determine.Based on the well-known Harlan's theory,a simple moisture-heat coupling model was recently proposed to quantify the coupled moisture-heat transport performance of soils in terms of the central temperature and porosity. The mathematical module of COMSOL Multiphysics was further employed to solve the governing equations numerically. To validate our model,a thorough experimental scheme was carried out in our lab.The measured temperature distribution was found to be consistent with the predicted results.
文摘In this paper, the dynamic heat and moisture transmissions through fabrics are investigated, and their interaction manner is discussed. The essentials of the apparatus developed for measuring the amount of heat flow through fabrics during the whole period of simulated sweating action is reported. The registered heat flow flux in a continuous curve form covering the complete dry-wet-dry cycle of the sample is presented. Interpretation of the feature of the curve and indexes for characterizing the wearing comfort property of fabrics are suggested.
文摘The skin heat loss(heat flow)of summer fabrics duringthe course of sweating--evaporating--drying is mea-sured by an apparatus specially made for the purpose.Itis pointed out that:the dynamic heat-moisture comfortcan be described by evaporating rate or time required fordrying out of a certain amount of sweat. The evaporat-ing rate is influenced by the hygroscopic property andthickness of the fabric, the larger the hygroscopicity ofthe fabric with the same thickness, the smaller the evap-orating rate of the perspirated sweat.
文摘The thesis has changed the heat and moisture exchange curves of Swiss Luwa air washer into double efficiency formulas which are widely used in our country with a computer, and also worked out the regression formula of heat transfer efficiency(X). This has created favourable condition for us to use computer in our calculation of Luwa air washer.

文摘By using the high-resolution GAME reanalysis data, the heat and moisture budgets during the period of HUBEX/GAME in the summer of 1998 are calculated for exploring the thermodynamic features of Meiyu over the Changjiang-Huaihe (CH) valley. Among them, the mesoscale systems are the main factors.
文摘In this paper, the factors to influence the dynamic heat - moisture comfort of summer clothing fabrics have been studied. For pure polyester fabric,
文摘Investigations about laying hens reactions on artificial light conditions were carried out in a climate chamber equipped with a floor housing system for laying hens. The release of carbon dioxide increased during light periods probably due to increased activity and respiration.
文摘The research focuses on the effect of air movement through building constructions. In order to verify this statement and validate the models, new in-depth experiments including air flow through materials are recommended.
