Based on theory of mechanical dynamics, meshing characteristic as well as thedynamic model of double circular arc helical gearing, an analysis approach and a computer programhave been developed for studying the state of dynamic load and factor of dynamic load of thegearing, the changing situation of dynamic load and dynamic load factor vs some affecting factorssuch as gear width, helix angle and accuracy grade etc are investigated. A series of conclusions areobtained: ①With the increasing in the values of gear width, the dynamic load factor appears slowdecreasing tendency in most region of gear width. ②When the accuracy grades of the gearing areimproved, the values of dynamic load factor decrease. ③The value of dynamic load factor appears adecreasing tendency with the increasing of value of helix angle at the same ratio of criticalrotational speed. 展开更多

Geometry of end mill cutters plays a vital role in the stability of the flexible parts milling.The present study considers helix angle and number of flutes.Multi-frequency solution is established to draw stability Lobe diagram(SLD)for different helix angles and number of flutes.SLD for the two cases shows that the greater the value of helix angle,the more stable the milling process will be,and conversely increasing the number of flutes degrades the stability of flexible parts milling.A simple empirical methodology is adopted to employ the inclined plane workpiece geometry offering agradual increase of the axial depth of cut in the feed direction.Surface roughness is used as a measure of stability.Test results corroborate the model conclusions very well. 展开更多

Research on Cavitation Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Herringbone Gear Pump

Cavitation is a common issue in pumps,causing a decrease in pump head,a fall in volumetric efficiency,and an intensification of outlet flow pulsation.It is one of the main hazards that affect the regular operation of the pump.Research on pump cavitation mainly focuses on mixed flow pumps,jet pumps,external spur gear pumps,etc.However,there are few cavitation studies on external herringbone gear pumps.In addition,pumps with different working principles significantly differ in the flow and complexity of the internal flow field.Therefore,it is urgent to study the cavitation characteristics of external herringbone gear pumps.Compared with experimentalmethods,visual research and cavitation area identification are achieved through computation fluid dynamic(CFD),and changing the boundary conditions and shape of the gear rotor is easier.The simulation yields a head error of only 0.003%under different grid numbers,and the deviation between experimental and simulation results is less than 5%.The study revealed that cavitation causes flow pulsation at the outlet,and the cavitation serious area is mainly distributed in the meshing gap and meshing area.Cavitation can be inhibited by reducing the speed,increasing the inlet pressure,and changing the helix angle can be achieved.For example,when the inlet pressure is 5 bar,the maximumgas volume fraction in themeshing area is less than 50%.These results provide a reference for optimizing the design and finding the optimal design parameters to reduce or eliminate cavitation. 展开更多

Design and experimental study of the fertilizer applicator with vertical spiral fluted rollers

To improve the uniformity and accuracy of fertilizing amount for fertilizer applicators with spiral fluted roller,this paper experimentally studied the influence of major structural parameters on the fertilizing performance.Through two sets of orthogonal tests,it is found that the helix angle and installation angle of spiral fluted rollers are the main factors,which affect the uniformity of fertilizer discharge and the linear relationship between fertilizing amount and opening,respectively.Based on these findings,the experiment and analysis were carried out to determine the optimal helix angle and installation angle for the spiral fluted roller The experimental results of fertilizing performance show that:when the helix angle is 45°,it able to achieve satisfactory uniformity of fertilizer discharge and linear relationship between fertilizing amount and rotational speed;when the installation angle is 40°,it enhances the accuracy of fertilizer discharge with good linear relationship between fertilizing amount and opening.Compared with the fertilizing performance of traditional fertilizer applicators with horizontally installed straight fluted roller,in the aspect of uniformity,the optimized fertilizer applicators reduce the variation coefficient of fertilizing amount within 0.2 s at low speed(10-30 r/min)from 5.1%-52.5%to 4.2%-14.7%;in the aspect of accuracy;and increase the correlation coefficient square R2 between fertilizing amount and opening from 0.93-0.97 to no less than 0.996,and the regression intercept in the fitting equation is reduced from larger than 10.0 to less than 1.0. 展开更多

This study discusses the development of a mathematical model that is capable ofpredicting the drop size mean diameter of the spray generated by a pressure swirl atomizer,considering the effects of the liquid’s viscosity and the geometrical parameters of this typeof injector, as well as the angle of incidence of the inlet channels (j and b) and atomizationparameters (k, 8), obtained from hyperbolic relations. Additionally, this model investigatesthe phenomena of rupture and stability that are observed in the conical liquid film, in whichthe importance of a new geometrical parameter of atomization, “8”, which immediately influences the drop size diameter of the spray, should be highlighted. The results that are obtainedusing this model are compared with analytical results of Couto, Wang and Lefebvre, Jasuja,Radcliffe and Lefebvre, experimental results and numerics (Hollow cone atomization model),using the Ansys Fluent software for the validation and consistency of the model proposed in Rivas (2015). This model yields good approximations as compared to that yielded using otheralternative mathematical models, demonstrating that the new atomization geometric parameter“8” is an “adjustment” factor that exhibits considerable significance while designing pressureswirl atomizers according to the required SMD. Furthermore, this model is easy to use, withreliable results, and has the advantage of saving computational time. 展开更多
