Cation-exchange high-performance liquid chromatography(CE-HPLC) is a widely used laboratory test to detect variant hemoglobins as well as quantify hemoglobins F and A2 for the diagnosis of thalassemia syndromes. It's versatility, speed, reproducibility and convenience have made CE-HPLC the method of choice to initially screen for hemoglobin disorders. Despite its popularity, several methodological aspects of the technology remain obscure to pathologists and this may have consequences in specific situations. This paper discusses the basic principles of the technique, the initial quality control steps and the interpretation of various controls and variables that are available on the instrument output. Subsequent sections are devoted to methodological considerations that arise during reporting of cases. For instance, common problems of misidentified peaks, totals crossing 100%, causes of total area being above or below acceptable limits and the importance of pre-integration region peaks are dealt with. Ultimately, CE-HPLC remains an investigation, the reporting of which combines in-depth knowledge of the biological basics with more than a working knowledge of the technological aspects of the technique. 展开更多

Biomarke rs are required for the early detection, prognosis prediction, and monitoring of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,a progressive disease.Proteomics is an unbiased and quantitative method that can be used to detect neurochemical signatures to aid in the identification of candidate biomarke rs.In this study,we used a label-free quantitative proteomics approach to screen for substantially differentially regulated proteins in ten patients with sporadic amyotrophic lateral scle rosis compared with five healthy controls.Su bstantial upregulation of serum proteins related to multiple functional clusters was observed in patients with spo radic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.Potential biomarke rs were selected based on functionality and expression specificity. To validate the proteomics profiles, blood samples from an additional cohort comprising 100 patients with sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and 100 healthy controls were subjected to enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Eight substantially upregulated serum proteins in patients with spora dic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis were selected,of which the cathelicidin-related antimicrobial peptide demonstrated the best discriminative ability between patients with sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and healthy controls(area under the curve[AUC]=0.713,P<0.0001).To further enhance diagnostic accuracy,a multi-protein combined discriminant algorithm was developed incorporating five proteins(hemoglobin beta,cathelicidin-related antimicrobial peptide,talin-1,zyxin,and translationally-controlled tumor protein). The algo rithm achieved an AUC of 0.811 and a P-value of<0.0001,resulting in 79%sensitivity and 71%specificity for the diagnosis of sporadic amyotrophic lateral scle rosis.Subsequently, the ability of candidate biomarkers to discriminate between early-stage amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients and controls,as well as patients with different disease severities, was examined.A two-protein panel comprising talin-1 and translationally-controlled tumor protein effectively distinguished early-stage amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients from controls(AUC=0.766,P<0.0001).Moreove r,the expression of three proteins(FK506 binding protein 1A,cathelicidin-related antimicrobial peptide, and hemoglobin beta-1)was found to increase with disease progression. The proteomic signatures developed in this study may help facilitate early diagnosis and monitor the progression of sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis when used in co mbination with curre nt clinical-based parameters. 展开更多

AIM:To observe the changes in corneal subepithelial nerve fibers(CNFs)and Langerhans cells(LCs)in patients with type 2 diabetes using corneal laser confocal microscopy(CLCM).METHODS:A total of 60 patients(64 eyes),including 40 patients with type 2 diabetes(DM group)and 20 subjects without diabetes(control group)were included with CLCM.Neuron J plugin of Image J software were used for quantitative analysis of CNF length(CNFL),CNF density(CNFD),corneal nerve branch fiber density(CNBD),main branch length density, branch length density, corneal nerve fiber tortuosity(NT)score, and LCs density. An independent samples t-test to analyze the variability between the two groups was performed, and Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the relationships between CNF and multiple biochemical indicators in the DM group. The predictive power of CNF for type 2 diabetes was assessed using the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve.RESULTS:There were significant differences in the CNFL,CNFD,and main branch length density between two groups. The results of Pearson correlation analysis showed a significant negative correlation between CNFD and the duration of diabetes as well as triglyceride levels and total cholesterol, and a significant positive correlation between CNFD and serum albumin. In addition, the NT score showed a positive correlation and urea nitrogen, similar to the positive correlation observed between LC density and glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c)levels.CNFD showed the highest area under the curve(AUC of ROC)value, followed by main branch length density and CNFL.The AUC of the ROC curve under the logistic regression model also demonstrated good predictive values. The cut-off values of CNFD,CNFL,and main branch length density for diabetes showed 31.25,18.85,and 12.56,respectively.CONCLUSION:In patients with type 2 diabetes, there is a notable reduction in both CNFL and CNFD.These measurements can be influenced by various blood biochemical factors. However, the compromised nerve fibers can serve as valuable indicators for predicting the onset of type 2 diabetes and also as biomarkers for detecting diabetic neuropathy and its related complications. 展开更多

In this editorial we comment on the article by Agatsuma et al published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology. They suggest policies for more effective colorectal screening.Screening is the main policy that has led to lower mortality rates in later years among the population that was eligible for screening.Colonoscopy is the gold standard tool for screening and has preventive effects by removing precancerous or early malignant polyps. However, colonoscopy is an invasive process, and fecal tests such as the current hemoglobin immunodetection were developed, followed by endoscopy,as the general tool for population screening, avoiding logistical and economic problems.Even so,participation and adherence rates are low.Different screening options are being developed with the idea that if people could choose between the ones that best suit them, participation in population-based screening programs would increase.Blood tests, such as a recent one that detects cell-free DNA shed by tumors called circulating tumor DNA,showed a similar accuracy rate to stool tests for cancer, but were less sensitive for advanced precancerous lesions. At the time when the crosstalk between the immune system and cancer was being established as a new hallmark of cancer, novel immune system-related biomarkers and information on patients’immune parameters, such as cell counts of different immune populations, were studied for the early detection of colorectal cancer, since they could be effective in asymptomatic people, appearing earlier in the adenoma-carcinoma development compared to the presence of fecal blood.sCD26,for example, detected 80.37%of advanced adenomas. To reach as many eligible people as possible, starting at an earlier age than current programs, the direction could be to apply tests based on blood, urine or salivary fluid to samples taken during routine visits to the primary health system. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Identifying patients with peritoneal metastasis(PMs)of colorectal cancer(CRC)who will benefit from cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy is crucial before surgery.Inflammatory and nutritional indicators play essential roles in cancer development and metastasis.AIM To investigate the association of preoperative inflammatory and nutritional markers with prognosis in patients with CRC-PM.METHODS We included 133 patients diagnosed with CRC-PM between July 2012 and July 2018.Patients’demographics,overall survival(OS),and preoperative inflammatory and nutritional markers were evaluated. The Kaplan-Meier method and log-rank test were used to estimate differences.RESULTS Of the 133 patients,94(70.6%)had normal hemoglobin(Hb)and 54(40.6%)had a high neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR).The median OS(mOS)was significantly lower for patients with high NLR(7.9 months)than for those with low NLR(25.4 months;P=0.002).Similarly,patients with normal Hb had a longer mOS(18.5 months)than those with low Hb(6.3 months;P<0.001).Multivariate analysis identified age, carbohydrate antigen 199 levels,NLR,Hb,and peritoneal cancer index as independent predictors of OS.Based on these findings,a nomogram was constructed, which demonstrated a good capacity for prediction, with a C-index of 0.715(95%confidence interval:0.684-0.740).Furthermore,the 1-and 2-year survival calibration plots showed good agreement between predicted and actual OS rates. The areas under the curve for the 1-and 2-year survival predictions of the nomogram were 0.6238 and 0.6234,respectively.CONCLUSION High NLR and low Hb were identified as independent predictive risk factors for poor prognosis in patients with CRC-PM.The established nomogram demonstrated high accuracy in predicting OS for patients with CRC-PM,indicating its potential as a valuable prognostic tool for this patient population. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM)is a special type of diabetes that commonly occurs in women during pregnancy and involves impaired glucose tolerance and abnormal glucose metabolism;GDM is diagnosed for the first time during pregnancy and can affect fetal growth and development.AIM To investigate the associations of serum D-dimer(D-D)and glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c)levels with third-trimester fetal growth restriction(FGR)in GDM patients.METHODS The clinical data of 164 pregnant women who were diagnosed with GDM and delivered at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University from January 2021 to January 2023 were analyzed retrospectively.Among these women,63 whose fetuses had FGR were included in the FGR group, and 101 women whose fetuses had normal body weights were included in the normal body weight group(normal group).Fasting venous blood samples were collected from the elbow at 28-30 wk gestation and 1-3 d before delivery to measure serum D-D and HbA1c levels for comparative analysis. The diagnostic value of serum D-D and HbA1c levels for FGR was evaluated by receiver operating characteristic analysis, and the influencing factors of third-trimester FGR in GDM patients were analyzed by logistic regression.RESULTS Serum fasting blood glucose, fasting insulin,D-D and HbA1c levels were significantly greater in the FGR group than in the normal group, while the homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance values were lower(P<0.05).Regarding the diagnosis of FGR based on serum D-D and HbA1c levels, the areas under the curves(AUCs)were 0.826 and 0.848,the cutoff values were 3.04 mg/L and 5.80%,the sensitivities were 81.0%and 79.4%,and the specificities were 88.1%and 87.1%,respectively.The AUC of serum D-D plus HbA1c levels for diagnosing FGR was 0.928,and the sensitivity and specificity were 84.1%and 91.1%,respectively.High D-D and HbA1c levels were risk factors for third-trimester FGR in GDM patients(P<0.05).CONCLUSION D-D and HbA1c levels can indicate the occurrence of FGR in GDM patients in the third trimester of pregnancy to some extent, and their combination can be used as an important index for the early prediction of FGR. 展开更多

In this editorial,we comment on the article by Zhang et al.Chronic kidney disease(CKD)presents a significant challenge in managing glycemic control, especially in diabetic patients with diabetic kidney disease undergoing dialysis or kidney transplantation.Conventional markers like glycated haemoglobin(HbA1c)may not accurately reflect glycemic fluctuations in these populations due to factors such as anaemia and kidney dysfunction. This comprehensive review discusses the limitations of HbA1c and explores alternative methods, such as continuous glucose monitoring(CGM)in CKD patients.CGM emerges as a promising technology offering real-time or retrospective glucose concentration measure-ments and overcoming the limitations of HbA1c.Key studies demonstrate the utility of CGM in different CKD settings, including hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients,as well as kidney transplant recipients.Despite challenges like sensor accuracy fluctuation,CGM proves valuable in monitoring glycemic trends and mitigating the risk of hypo-and hyperglycemia,to which CKD patients are prone. The review also addresses the limitations of CGM in CKD patients, emphasizing the need for further research to optimize its utilization in clinical practice.Altogether, this review advocates for integrating CGM into managing glycemia in CKD patients, highlighting its superiority over traditional markers and urging clinicians to consider CGM a valuable tool in their armamentarium. 展开更多

BACKGROUND In patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM),the risk of hypoglycemia also occurs in at a time-in-range(TIR)of>70%.The hemoglobin glycation index(HGI)is considered the best single factor for predicting hypoglycemia, and offers new perspectives for the individualized treatment of patients with well-controlled blood glucose levels that are easily ignored in clinical settings. All participants underwent a 7-days continuous glucose monitoring(CGM)using a retrospective CGM system. We obtained glycemic variability indices using the CGM system. We defined HGI as laboratory hemoglobin A1c minus the glucose management indicator.Patients were categorized into low HGI(HGI<0.5)and high HGI groups(HGI≥0.5)according to HGI median(0.5).Logistic regression and receiver operating characteristic curve analyses were used to determine the risk factors for hypoglycemia.RESULTS We included 129 subjects with T2DM(54.84±12.56 years,46%male)in the study.Median TIR score was 90%.The high HGI group exhibited lower TIR and greater time below range with higher hemoglobin A1c than the low HGI group;this suggests more glycemic excursions and an increased incidence of hypoglycemia in the high HGI group.Multivariate analyses revealed that mean blood glucose, standard deviation of blood glucose and HGI were independent risk factors for hypoglycemia.Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis indicated that the HGI was the best predictor of hypoglycemia. In addition, the optimal cut-off points for HGI,mean blood glucose, and standard deviation of blood glucose in predicting hypoglycemia were 0.5%,7.2 mmol/L and 1.4 mmol/L respectively.CONCLUSION High HGI was significantly associated with greater glycemic excursions and increased hypoglycemia in patients with TIR>70%.Our findings indicate that HGI is a reliable predictor of hypoglycemia in this population. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Cognitive dysfunction is the main manifestation of central neuropathy.Although cognitive impairments tend to be overlooked in patients with diabetes mellitus(DM),there is a growing body of evidence linking DM to cognitive dysfunction.Hyperglycemia is closely related to neurological abnormalities, while often disregarded in clinical practice.Changes in cerebral neurotransmitter levels are associated with a variety of neurological abnormalities and may be closely related to blood glucose control in patients with type 2 DM(T2DM).AIM To evaluate the concentrations of cerebral neurotransmitters in T2DM patients exhibiting different hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c)levels.METHODS A total of 130 T2DM patients were enrolled at the Department of Endocrinology of Shanghai East Hospital. The participants were divided into four groups according to their HbA1c levels using the interquartile method, namely Q1(<7.875%),Q2(7.875%-9.050%),Q3(9.050%-11.200%)and Q4(≥11.200%).Clinical data were collected and measured, including age,height,weight,neck/waist/hip circumferences, blood pressure, comorbidities, duration of DM,and biochemical indicators.Meanwhile, neurotransmitters in the left hippocampus and left brainstem area were detected by proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy.RESULTS The HbA1c level was significantly associated with urinary microalbumin(mALB),triglyceride,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR),and beta cell function(HOMA-β),N-acetylaspartate/creatine(NAA/Cr),and NAA/choline(NAA/Cho).Spearman correlation analysis showed that mALB,LDL-C,HOMA-IR and NAA/Cr in the left brainstem area were positively correlated with the level of HbA1c(P<0.05),whereas HOMA-βwas negatively correlated with the HbA1c level(P<0.05).Ordered multiple logistic regression analysis showed that NAA/Cho[Odds ratio(OR):1.608,95%confidence interval(95%CI):1.004-2.578,P<0.05],LDL-C(OR:1.627,95%CI:1.119-2.370,P<0.05),and HOMA-IR(OR:1.107,95%CI:1.031-1.188,P<0.01)were independent predictors of poor glycemic control.CONCLUSION The cerebral neurotransmitter concentrations in the left brainstem area in patients with T2DM are closely related to glycemic control, which may be the basis for the changes in cognitive function in diabetic patients. 展开更多

BACKGROUND The common clinical method to evaluate blood loss during pancreaticoduoden-ectomy(PD)is visual inspection, but most scholars believe that this method is extremely subjective and inaccurate.Currently, there is no accurate, objective me-thod to evaluate the amount of blood loss in PD patients. We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 341 patients who underwent PD in Shandong Provincial Hospital from March 2017 to February 2019.According to different surgical methods, they were divided into an open PD(OPD)group and a laparoscopic PD(LPD)group. The differences and correlations between the in-traoperative estimation of blood loss(IEBL)obtained by visual inspection and the intraoperative calculation of blood loss(ICBL)obtained using the Hb loss method were analyzed.ICBL,IEBL and perioperative calculation of blood loss(PCBL)were compared between the two groups, and single-factor regression analysis was performed.RESULTS There was no statistically significant difference in the preoperative general patient information between the two groups(P>0.05).PD had an ICBL of 743.2(393.0,1173.1)mL and an IEBL of 100.0(50.0,300.0)mL(P<0.001).There was also a certain correlation between the two(r=0.312,P<0.001).Single-factor analysis of ICBL showed that a history of diabetes[95%confidence interval(CI):53.82-549.62;P=0.017]was an independent risk factor for ICBL.In addition, the single-factor analysis of PCBL showed that body mass index(BMI)(95%CI:0.62-76.75;P=0.046)and preoperative total bilirubin>200μmol/L(95%CI:7.09-644.26;P=0.045)were independent risk factors for PCBL.The ICBLs of the LPD group and OPD group were 767.7(435.4,1249.0)mL and 663.8(347.7,1138.2)mL,respectively(P>0.05).The IEBL of the LPD group 200.0(50.0,200.0)mL was slightly greater than that of the OPD group 100.0(50.0,300.0)mL(P>0.05).PCBL was greater in the LPD group than the OPD group[1061.6(612.3,1632.3)mL vs 806.1(375.9,1347.6)mL](P<0.05).CONCLUSION The ICBL in patients who underwent PD was greater than the IEBL,but there is a certain correlation between the two.The Hb loss method can be used to evaluate intraoperative blood loss.A history of diabetes, preoperative bilirubin>200μmol/L and high BMI increase the patient's risk of bleeding. 展开更多

Subsequent studies have demonstrated the reversed activity of the aqueous extract of Ceiba pentandra on the deformity of sickled red blood cells in hypoxia conditions. The observation which related to an in vitro study had given rise to hopes as to the management of sickle cell disease (SCD) by the use of this plant species. In this paper, the authors aimed to investigate the effect of the aqueous extract of C. pentandra on the production of fetal hemoglobin in SCD patients. The work carried out hemoglobin electrophoresis, for a period of six months, on blood samples from SCD patients who voluntarily undergone routine treatment, based on the medicinal recipe prepared from the bark of the trunk and branches of C. pentandra, in a hospital center of herbal medicines located in Kinshasa. The medicinal recipe called BEAT-SS is a patented product of the hospital center named Centre de Phytothérapie Moderne NIECA. Blood samples from patients under treatment were taken to evaluate the behavior of different forms of hemoglobin (hemoglobin S, hemoglobin F and hemoglobin A2). Agarose gel electrophoresis with integrated reading was used for the separation of the different forms of hemoglobin, as well as their dosage on each sample of sickle blood. A reduction in the proportion of hemoglobin S and an increase in the proportion of fetal hemoglobin were found in all sickle cell patients during the treatment period. This observation could affirm that the management of sickle cell patients using the recipe prepared from the aqueous extract of C. pentandra could increase the level of fetal hemoglobin in these patients. 展开更多

BACKGROUND The use of dapagliflozin in patients with cirrhosis has been relatively restricted due to concerns regarding its overall safety and pharmacological profile in this population.AIM To determine the safety and effectiveness of dapagliflozin in the co-management of diabetes mellitus and cirrhosis with or without ascites.METHODS The patients studied were divided into two groups:100 patients in the control group received insulin, while 200 patients received dapagliflozin. These patients were classified as Child A,B,or C based on the Child–Pugh classification.Child A or B and Child C were administered doses of 10 mg and 5 mg of dapagliflozin, respectively.RESULTS The rate of increased diuretics dose was markedly elevated in the group that received insulin compared to the group that received dapagliflozin. In addition, dapagliflozin treatment substantially reduced weight, body mass index, and fasting blood glucose compared to the insulin group during follow-up.However,there were no significant differences in hemoglobin A1c,liver function,or laboratory investigations between both groups during the follow-up period. The incidence of hypoglycemia, hepatic encephalopathy, variceal bleeding, and urinary tract infection was significantly higher in the insulin group compared to the dapagliflozin group. In contrast, the dapagliflozin group experienced significantly higher rates of frequent urination and dizziness. In addition, the insulin group exhibited a marked worsening of ascites compared to the dapagliflozin group.CONCLUSION Dapagliflozin demonstrated safety and efficacy in the treatment of diabetic patients who have cirrhosis with or without ascites. This resulted in an improvement of ascites,as well as a decrease in diuretic dose and Child–Pugh score. 展开更多

To summarize the results of general survey, primary structure analysis and related functional studies of abnormal hemoglobins (Hbs) found in Hunan Province Data sources International Hb journals, Chinese biochemical and biomedical journals and other articles relevant to hematology Study selection All Hb variants found in Hunan and identified by primary structure analysis during 1980-1991 were included Data extraction Data concerning 11 types of Hb variants found in 3 districts and 7 counties in Hunan Province were briefly documented Their frequencies of occurrence were calculated and their distributions among Han, Yao, Tujia and Dong ethnic groups were listed Results Thirty six cases with abnormal Hb were identified out of 7412 individuals screened in Hunan 11 different types of Hb variants were recognized by primary structure analysis in 19 propositi along with their family members, including 5 α chain variants, 4 β chain variants, 1 δ chain variant and 1 δ β chain fusion variant Oxygen equilibrium characteristics, reaction dynamics, the rate of globin chain synthesis (RGCS), morphology observation by electron microscopy and DNA analysis were all used in the functional studies of hemoglobinopathies Conclusions The average incidence of abnormal Hbs in Hunan is 0 486% In Jianghua County, whose inhabitants are mostly of the Yao ethnic group, the incidence is significantly higher (1 09%) Hb Jianghua [β120(GH3) LysIle] and Hb Shuangfeng (SF)[α27(B8) GluLys] were two new variants first reported in international literature; whereas Hb Lille [α74(EF3) AspAla], HbA 2 Flatbush [δ22(B4) AlaGlu] and Hb Lepore Boston [δ87(F3) β116(G18)] were the first three instances to be found in China Hb SF displayed an oxygen affinity 1 5 fold higher than that of HbA at pH 7 4 and 25℃ with its oxygen equilibrium curve shifted to the left Reticulocytes of Hb SF heterozygote showed unbalanced RGCS, quite similar to that found in β thalassemia minor Erythrocytes of Hb SF heterozygote were changed to spherocytes and began to lyse after incubation with sodium salicylate or sulfadiazine (pH 7 4, 37℃) for 2-4 h These findings explained the sudden attack of hemolytic anemia provoked by two drugs in Hb SF propositus The genotype of a patient with Hb Q H disease is identified as , / ,α Q by DNA restriction mapping 展开更多

Land plants and algae form a supergroup, the Archaeplastida, believed to be monophyletic. We report the results of an analysis of the phylogeny of putative globins in the currently available genomes to bacterial and other eu- karyote hemoglobins (Hbs). Archaeplastida genomes have 3/3 and 2/2 Hbs, with the land plant genomes having group 2 2/ 2 Hbs, except for the unexpected occurrence of two group 1 2/2 Hbs in Ricinus communis. Bayesian analysis shows that plant 3/3 Hbs are related to vertebrate neuroglobins and bacterial flavohemoglobins (FHbs). We sought to define the bacterial groups, whose ancestors shared the precursors of Archaeplastida Hbs, via Bayesian and neighbor-joining anal- yses based on COBALTalignment of representative sets of bacterial 3/3 FHb-like globins and group I and 2 2/2 Hbs with the corresponding Archaeplastida Hbs. The results suggest that the Archaeplastida 3/3 and group 1 2/2 Hbs could have orig- inated from the horizontal gene transfers (HGTs) that accompanied the two generally accepted endosymbioses of a pro- teobacterium and a cyanobacterium with a eukaryote ancestor. In contrast, the origin of the group 2 212 Hbs unexpectedly appears to involve HGT from a bacterium ancestral to Chloroflexi, Deinococcales, Bacilli, and Actinomycetes. Furthermore, although intron positions and phases are mostly conserved among the land plant 3/3 and 2/2 globin genes, introns are absent in the algal 3/3 genes and intron positions and phases are highly variable in their 2/2 genes. Thus, introns are irrelevant to globin evolution in Archaeplastida. 展开更多

The following asymmetric α1 99 Lys-α2 99 Lys cross-linked Fe(Ⅱ)-Co(Ⅱ) hybrid hemoglobins (Hbs) were first prepared from derivatives of hemoglobin C (β6 Glu-Lys) and human normal HbA: [α(Co)β(Fe)]A[α(Co)β(Co)]cXL, [α(Fe)β(Co)]A[α(Co)β(Co)]cXL, etc.Their 500 MHz 1H NMR and EPR spectra were measured in order to study the change in their tertiary and quaternary structure under atmosphere of deozy, oxy and carbon monoxide (with or without IHP). From the change of T and R marks in 1H NMR hydrogen bonding region, it is proved that oxygen molecules are first bonded to α(Fe) subunits rather than to β(Fe). The experimental phenomena provided further evidence that intermediate states of ligation are present in addition to T and R state during process of binding of oxygen to Hb. IHP facilitates transformation of T state to R state. The same conclusion can also be drawn from the results of EPR spectra at 77 K. 展开更多
