Due to the extremely low con- centration (0.012%) of 40K in natural abundance of potassium, most experiments use 4-10% enriched potassium source, which have greatly suffered from the extremely low annual production and significant price hikes in recent years. Using naturally abundant potassium source, we capture 5.4 × 10 6 cold 40K atoms with the help of a high performance of two-dimensional magneto-optical trap (2D+ MOT), which is almost three orders of magnitude greater than previous results without the 2D+ MOT. The number of the 40K atoms is sufficient for most ultra-cold 40K experiments, and our approach provides an ideal alternative for the field. 展开更多

Previous research suggests that the crude oils especially condensates in the Kuqa depression are rich in abnormally high abundant rearranged hopanes. The gas enrichment conditions in the Fuxin basin are compared to those of the Powder River basin.The coal bed depth,the gas content,the individual coal bed layer thickness,and the overall structure thickness of the Powder River basin in the U.S.were examined.The main factors affecting gas enrichment were examined.These factors include the coal-forming environment,the gas sources,the geological structure,the presence of magmatic activity,and the local hydrology.The coal-bed gas enrichment area in the Wangying-Liujia block of the Fuxin basin is then discussed by analogy.A hydrodynamic-force/dike-plugging model based on a magma fractured bed is proposed to explain the gas enrichment in this part of the Fuxin basin.High gas production is predicted in areas having similar conditions.This work will aid future coal-bed gas exploration and development. 展开更多

Exchange interaction and demagnetization process of high-abundance rare-earth magnets sintered using dual alloy method

The 2:14:1-type rare-earth(RE)-Fe-B permanent magnets prepared by the dual alloy method have been found to possess much superior magnetic properties to those prepared by the single alloy method,providing an appealing route to promote the utilization of high-abundance RE elements Ce and La and balance the use of the RE source.However,the relationship between magnetic interactions among different 2:14:1 main phases and superior magnetic properties is still unclear.In this study,we investigated the magnetic interactions and reversal field distribution in these magnets using first-order reversal curve(FORC)images.The FORC images showed that(Nd,Pr)27.8(La,Ce)2.7FebalM1.4B1.0(S-9)and(Nd,Pr)19.5(La,Ce)11.0FebalM1.4B1.0(S-36)have the characteristics of multiple main phases.The reverse magnetic fields corresponding to the soft and hard main phases,as well as the associated exchange coupling,were highly dependent on the La Ce content.The higher the La Ce content,the weaker the exchange coupling and the more asynchronous the demagnetization process.In addition,the FORC images indicated that the magnetization reversal process also varies with La Ce content,where the nucleation and propagation of reversed domains dominant in the S-9 magnet,while the domain propagation in the S-36 magnet is considerably suppressed.Additional micromagnetic simulations also revealed that the coercivity and exchange coupling of multi-main-phase magnets decrease with increasing La Ce content,correlating well with the experimental results.These findings may not only contribute to a better understanding of the complex magnetic interactions between the soft and hard phases and how they affect macroscopic magnetic properties but also help in improving the magnetic performance of the RE-Fe-B magnets with high La Ce content. 展开更多

The rare earth-iron-boron magnets based on high abundance rare earths(REs)show potential for costeffective permanent magnets but their hard magnetic properties have to be greatly improved.The grain boundary diffusion process(GBDP)is known as an effective way to improve the coercivity of Nd-Fe-B magnets,however,the conventional diffusion method faces a challenge for Ce-based magnets since there is no enough continuous GB layer as the diffusion channel.Here,a two-step(Nd-Cu doping followed by Nd-Cu diffusion)GBDP was introduced for hot deformed(Ce,La,Y)-Fe-B magnet,and the excellent magnetic properties ofμ0Hc=0.63 T,μ0Mr=0.68 T,and(BH)max=72.4 kJ/m^(3)were achieved.The Nd-Cu doping helps the formation of RE-rich GB layer,and then it acts as the diffusion channel for increasing the ef-ficiency of the subsequent Nd-Cu diffusion and results in the increased volume fraction of continuously distributed GB phase,whose paramagnetism was verified by 57Fe Mössbauer spectrometry.Those paramagnetic GB phases help to form the discontinuous domain walls,as observed by Lorentz transmission electron microscopy,and break the magnetic exchange coupling of RE2Fe14B grains.It thus contributes to the coercivity enhancement of the hot deformed magnet with two-step diffusion,which is further proved by micromagnetic simulation.This study proposes a potential technique to prepare anisotropic hot deformed(Ce,La,Y)-Fe-B magnet with high cost-performance. 展开更多
