In order to find the eigenvalues of the problem, besides the sources used to expand the wave field, an extra monopole source is introduced which acts as the external excitation. By varying the frequency of the excitation, the eigenvalues can be localized as the extreme points of an appropriately chosen function. By sweeping the frequency range of interest and sweeping the boundary of the irreducible first Brillouin zone, the band structure is obtained. Three...In this paper, a time-varying rain characterization and diurnal variation in the Ku-band satellite systems simulated with synthetic storm techniques (SST) over a tropical location in Nigeria have been presented. Three years’ rain rate time-series data measured by a raingauge located inside the Federal University of Technology Akure, Nigeria were utilized for the purpose of this work. The analysis is based on the CDF of one-minute rain rate;time-series simulated annual/seasonal and diurnal rain rate, rain attenuation statistics and fade margins observed over four time intervals: 00:00-06:00, 06:00-12:00, 12:00-18:00 and 18:00-24:00. In addition, comparison was also made between the synthesized values and rain attenuation statistics, at 12.245 GHz for a hypothetical downlink from EUTELSAT W4/W7 satellite in the area. It could be observed that at 99.99% link availability, the fade margin as high as ~20 dB may be required at Ku band uplink frequency bands in this area. We also observed that the communication downlinks working in the early morning and early to late in the evening hours must be compensated with an appropriate Down-Link Power Control (DLPC) for optimum performances during severe atmospheric influences in the region.展开更多
This study aims to assess and to evaluate band ratios, brovey and HSV (Hue-Saturation-Value) techniques for discrimination and mapping the basement rock units exposed at Wadi Bulghah area, Saudi Arabia using multispec...This study aims to assess and to evaluate band ratios, brovey and HSV (Hue-Saturation-Value) techniques for discrimination and mapping the basement rock units exposed at Wadi Bulghah area, Saudi Arabia using multispectral Landsat ETM+ and SPOT-5 panchromatic data.?FieldSpec instrument is utilized to collect the spectral data of diorite, marble, gossan and volcanics, the main rock units exposed at the study area. Spectral profile of diorite exhibits very distinguished absorption features around 2.20 μm and 2.35 μm wavelength regions. These absorption features lead to lowering the band ratio values within the band-7 wavelength region. Diorite intrusions appear to have grey and dark grey image signatures on 7/3 and 7/2 band ratio images respectively. On the false color composite ratio image (7/3:R;7/2:G and 5/2:B), diorite, marble, gossan and volcanics have very dark brown, dark blue, white and yellowish brown image signatures respectively. Image fusion between previously mentioned FCC ratio image and high spatial resolution (5 meters) SPOT-5 panchromatic image is carried out by using brovey and HSV transformation methods. Visual and statistical assessment methods prove that HSV fused image yields best image interpretability results rather than brovey image. It improves the spatial resolution of the original FCC ratios image with acceptable spectral preservation.展开更多

The banding struc...Directional solidification experiments on Pb-Bi peritectic alloys were carried out at very low growth rate (v=0.5 μm/s) and high temperature gradient (G=35 K/mm) in an improved Bridgman furnace. The banding structures were observed in both hypoperitectic and hyperperitectic compositions (Pb-xBi, x=26%, 28%, 30% and 34%). Tree-like primary α phase in the center of the sample surrounded by the peritectic β phase matrix was also observed, resulting from the melt convection. The banding microstructure, however, is found to be transient after the tree-like structure and only the peritectic phase forms after a few bands. Composition variations in the banding structure are measured to determine the nucleation undercooling for both α and β phases. In a finite length sample, convection is shown to lead only to the transient formation of bands. In this transient banding regime, only a few bands with a variable width are formed, and this transient banding process can occur over a wide range of compositions inside the two-phase peritectic region.展开更多
Barrett's esophagus(BE) is a change in the esophageal lining and is known to be the major precursor lesion for most cases of esophageal adenocarcinoma(EAC).Despite an understanding of its association with BE for m...Barrett's esophagus(BE) is a change in the esophageal lining and is known to be the major precursor lesion for most cases of esophageal adenocarcinoma(EAC).Despite an understanding of its association with BE for many years and the falling incidence rates of squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus, the incidence for EAC continues to rise exponentially. In association with this rising incidence, if the delay in diagnosis of EAC occurs after the onset of symptoms,then the mortality at 5 years is greater than 80%. Appropriate diagnosis and surveillance strategies are therefore vital for BE. Multiple novel optical technologies and other advanced approaches are being utilized to assist in making screening and surveillance more cost effective. We review the current guidelines and evolving techniques that are currently being evaluated.展开更多

According to structural geology, volconic rocks are situated in Alborz-Azarbyjan zone, and faults?are?observed?in?the?same direction to this system with SE-NW trend. The results show that kaolinite alteration trend with Argilic and propylitic veins?is the?same direction with SW-NE faults in this area. Therefore, these faults with these trends can be considered as the mineralization control for determination of the alterations. Different image processing techniques,?such as false color composite?(FCC), band ratios, color ratio composite?(CRC), principal component?analysis?(PCA), Crosta technique, supervised spectral angle mapping?(SAM), are used for?identification of the alteration zones associated with copper mineralization. In this project ASTER?data are process and spectral analysis to fit for recognizing intensity and kind of argillic, propylitic,?philic, and ETM+ data?which?are process and to fit for iron oxide and relation to metal mineralization of the area. For recognizing different alterations of the study area, some chemical and mineralogical analysis data from the samples showed that ASTER data and ETM+ data were?capable of hydrothermal alteration mapping with copper mineralization.?Copper mineralization in the region is in agreement with argillic alteration. AIM:To evaluate the sensitivity(Sn),specificity(Sp),positive predictive value(PPV) and negative predictive value(NPV) of 3 different techniques:high resolution white light endoscopy(WLE),Narrow Band Imaging(NBI) and C...AIM:To evaluate the sensitivity(Sn),specificity(Sp),positive predictive value(PPV) and negative predictive value(NPV) of 3 different techniques:high resolution white light endoscopy(WLE),Narrow Band Imaging(NBI) and Chromoendoscopy(CHR),all with magnification in differentiating adenocarcinomas,adenomatous and hyperplastic colorectal polyps.METHODS:Each polyp was sequentially assessed first by WLE,followed by NBI and finally by CHR.Digital images of each polyp with each modality were taken and stored.Biopsies or polypectomies were then performed followed by blinded histopathological analysis.Each image was blindly graded based on the Kudo's pit pattern(KPP).In the assessment with NBI,the mesh brown capillary network pattern(MBCN) of each polyp was also described.The Sn,Sp,PPV and NPV of differentiating hyperplastic(Type Ⅰ & Ⅱ-KPP,Type Ⅰ-MBCN) adenomatous(Types Ⅲ,Ⅳ-KPP,Type Ⅱ-MBCN) and carcinomatous polyps(Type Ⅴ-KPP,Type Ⅲ-MCBN) was then compared with reference to the final histopathological diagnosis.RESULTS:A total of 50 colorectal polyps(5 adenocarcinomas,38 adenomas,7 hyperplastic) were assessed.CHR and NBI [KPP,MBCN or the combined classification(KPP & MBCN)] were superior to WLE in the prediction of polyp histology(P < 0.001,P=0.002,P=0.001 and P < 0.001,respectively).NBI,using the MBCN pattern or the combined classification showed higher numerical accuracies compared to CHR,but this was not statistically significant(P=0.625,0.250).CONCLUSION:This feasibility study demonstrated that this combined classification with NBI could potentially be useful in routine clinical practice,allowing the endoscopist to predict histology with higher accuracies using a less cumbersome and technically less challenging method.展开更多

This study concerns a Ka-band solid-state transmitter cloud radar, made in China, which can operate in three different work modes, with different pulse widths, and coherent and incoherent integration numbers, to meet ...This study concerns a Ka-band solid-state transmitter cloud radar, made in China, which can operate in three different work modes, with different pulse widths, and coherent and incoherent integration numbers, to meet the requirements for cloud remote sensing over the Tibetan Plateau. Specifically, the design of the three operational modes of the radar(i.e., boundary mode M1, cirrus mode M2, and precipitation mode M3) is introduced. Also, a cloud radar data merging algorithm for the three modes is proposed. Using one month's continuous measurements during summertime at Naqu on the Tibetan Plateau,we analyzed the consistency between the cloud radar measurements of the three modes. The number of occurrences of radar detections of hydrometeors and the percentage contributions of the different modes' data to the merged data were estimated.The performance of the merging algorithm was evaluated. The results indicated that the minimum detectable reflectivity for each mode was consistent with theoretical results. Merged data provided measurements with a minimum reflectivity of -35 dBZ at the height of 5 km, and obtained information above the height of 0.2 km. Measurements of radial velocity by the three operational modes agreed very well, and systematic errors in measurements of reflectivity were less than 2 dB. However,large discrepancies existed in the measurements of the linear depolarization ratio taken from the different operational modes.The percentage of radar detections of hydrometeors in mid- and high-level clouds increased by 60% through application of pulse compression techniques. In conclusion, the merged data are appropriate for cloud and precipitation studies over the Tibetan Plateau.展开更多

It is shown that the development of compaction bands is dominated by the coupling-rate and pore-pressure effects of material. Measurements were carried out for NGRIP deep ice core, which containing many cloudy bands, using the two type scanners and digital camera. BACKGROUND Hepatic portal blood flow occlusion is a common technique for reducing hepatic hemorrhage during hepatectomy.We designed a novel Y-Z magnetic hepatic portal blocking band(Y-Z MHPBB)based on the principle of...BACKGROUND Hepatic portal blood flow occlusion is a common technique for reducing hepatic hemorrhage during hepatectomy.We designed a novel Y-Z magnetic hepatic portal blocking band(Y-Z MHPBB)based on the principle of magnetic compression technique.AIM To introduce the Y-Z MHPBB device and verify the feasibility of this device for hepatic portal blood flow occlusion in dogs.METHODS Ten beagles were randomly divided into the experimental group and control group.The operation time,intraoperative blood loss,the number of portal blood flow occlusions,the total time spent on adjusting the blocking band,and the average time spent on adjusting the blocking band were recorded.The surgeons evaluated the feasibility and flexibility of the two portal occlusion devices.RESULTS Laparoscopic hepatectomy was successfully performed in both the experimental group and control group.There was no statistical difference between the two groups in the operation time,intraoperative blood loss,and the number of hepatic portal blood flow occlusions.With respect to the total time spent on adjusting the blocking band and the average time spent on adjusting the blocking band,the experimental group showed significantly better outcomes than the control group,with a statistical difference(P<0.05).The operators found that the Y-Z MHPBB was superior to the modified T-tube in terms of operational flexibility.CONCLUSION The Y-Z MHPBB seems to be an ingenious design,accurate blood flow occlusion effect,and good flexibility;and it can be used for hepatic portal blood flow occlusion during laparoscopic hepatectomy.展开更多

文摘AIM:To evaluate the sensitivity(Sn),specificity(Sp),positive predictive value(PPV) and negative predictive value(NPV) of 3 different techniques:high resolution white light endoscopy(WLE),Narrow Band Imaging(NBI) and Chromoendoscopy(CHR),all with magnification in differentiating adenocarcinomas,adenomatous and hyperplastic colorectal polyps.METHODS:Each polyp was sequentially assessed first by WLE,followed by NBI and finally by CHR.Digital images of each polyp with each modality were taken and stored.Biopsies or polypectomies were then performed followed by blinded histopathological analysis.Each image was blindly graded based on the Kudo's pit pattern(KPP).In the assessment with NBI,the mesh brown capillary network pattern(MBCN) of each polyp was also described.The Sn,Sp,PPV and NPV of differentiating hyperplastic(Type Ⅰ & Ⅱ-KPP,Type Ⅰ-MBCN) adenomatous(Types Ⅲ,Ⅳ-KPP,Type Ⅱ-MBCN) and carcinomatous polyps(Type Ⅴ-KPP,Type Ⅲ-MCBN) was then compared with reference to the final histopathological diagnosis.RESULTS:A total of 50 colorectal polyps(5 adenocarcinomas,38 adenomas,7 hyperplastic) were assessed.CHR and NBI [KPP,MBCN or the combined classification(KPP & MBCN)] were superior to WLE in the prediction of polyp histology(P < 0.001,P=0.002,P=0.001 and P < 0.001,respectively).NBI,using the MBCN pattern or the combined classification showed higher numerical accuracies compared to CHR,but this was not statistically significant(P=0.625,0.250).CONCLUSION:This feasibility study demonstrated that this combined classification with NBI could potentially be useful in routine clinical practice,allowing the endoscopist to predict histology with higher accuracies using a less cumbersome and technically less challenging method.

The method of broad band cumulative frequency number is used to determine the effect of band width of stress frequency spectra on fatigue. A formula of correction factor for fatigue under broad band stress spectra is suggested and compared with that given by P. H. Wirsching.

文摘This study concerns a Ka-band solid-state transmitter cloud radar, made in China, which can operate in three different work modes, with different pulse widths, and coherent and incoherent integration numbers, to meet the requirements for cloud remote sensing over the Tibetan Plateau. Specifically, the design of the three operational modes of the radar(i.e., boundary mode M1, cirrus mode M2, and precipitation mode M3) is introduced. Also, a cloud radar data merging algorithm for the three modes is proposed. Using one month's continuous measurements during summertime at Naqu on the Tibetan Plateau,we analyzed the consistency between the cloud radar measurements of the three modes. The number of occurrences of radar detections of hydrometeors and the percentage contributions of the different modes' data to the merged data were estimated.The performance of the merging algorithm was evaluated. The results indicated that the minimum detectable reflectivity for each mode was consistent with theoretical results. Merged data provided measurements with a minimum reflectivity of -35 dBZ at the height of 5 km, and obtained information above the height of 0.2 km. Measurements of radial velocity by the three operational modes agreed very well, and systematic errors in measurements of reflectivity were less than 2 dB. However,large discrepancies existed in the measurements of the linear depolarization ratio taken from the different operational modes.The percentage of radar detections of hydrometeors in mid- and high-level clouds increased by 60% through application of pulse compression techniques. In conclusion, the merged data are appropriate for cloud and precipitation studies over the Tibetan Plateau.

文摘The development of compaction bands in saturated soils, which is coupling-rate, inertial and pore-pressure-dependent, under axisymmetric loading was discussed, using a simple model and a matching technique at the moving boundary of a band. It is shown that the development of compaction bands is dominated by the coupling-rate and pore-pressure effects of material. The soil strength makes the band shrinking, whilst pore pressure diffusion makes the band expand. Numerical simulations were carried out in this paper.
文摘Cloudy bands are typical stratigraphic structure in deep ice core. Detailed recording of cloudy bands is important for dating of ice core since pair of series cloudy band and clear layer is corresponds to annual layer and it sometimes corresponds to volcanic ash layer. We developed two type scanners, transmitted light method and laser tomograph method for the stratigraphic study. Measurements were carried out for NGRIP deep ice core, which containing many cloudy bands, using the two type scanners and digital camera. We discussed about the possibility of identification of cloudy bands by each method and about advantage and disadvantage of measurements and their results.

文摘BACKGROUND Hepatic portal blood flow occlusion is a common technique for reducing hepatic hemorrhage during hepatectomy.We designed a novel Y-Z magnetic hepatic portal blocking band(Y-Z MHPBB)based on the principle of magnetic compression technique.AIM To introduce the Y-Z MHPBB device and verify the feasibility of this device for hepatic portal blood flow occlusion in dogs.METHODS Ten beagles were randomly divided into the experimental group and control group.The operation time,intraoperative blood loss,the number of portal blood flow occlusions,the total time spent on adjusting the blocking band,and the average time spent on adjusting the blocking band were recorded.The surgeons evaluated the feasibility and flexibility of the two portal occlusion devices.RESULTS Laparoscopic hepatectomy was successfully performed in both the experimental group and control group.There was no statistical difference between the two groups in the operation time,intraoperative blood loss,and the number of hepatic portal blood flow occlusions.With respect to the total time spent on adjusting the blocking band and the average time spent on adjusting the blocking band,the experimental group showed significantly better outcomes than the control group,with a statistical difference(P<0.05).The operators found that the Y-Z MHPBB was superior to the modified T-tube in terms of operational flexibility.CONCLUSION The Y-Z MHPBB seems to be an ingenious design,accurate blood flow occlusion effect,and good flexibility;and it can be used for hepatic portal blood flow occlusion during laparoscopic hepatectomy.
文摘离散单元法(discrete element method,DEM)数值仿真中,孔隙率场已用于观测剪切带宽度,观测剪切带宽度有助于理解剪切带宽度与颗粒特性的关系。孔隙率场可由测量圆测得,但测量圆半径通常按经验确定。针对测量圆半径定义缺乏理论和数值研究等问题,开展了孔隙率测量精度与测量圆半径关系的研究。提出基于孔隙率场的“1/2宽度估算法”和“1/2曲率极值法”,将其应用于直剪和双轴压缩试验的剪切带宽度测量,并将测量结果与转角法和网格法测量结果进行了对比。DEM数值研究结果表明:提出的方法能够用于量测直剪试验和双轴压缩试验中的剪切带宽度;直剪试验中剪切带宽度随粒径增大而逐渐增大;因为试样的非对称和不均匀性,双轴压缩试验的X形剪切带中的两条剪切带宽度不相等,且剪切带随轴向加载过程逐渐变宽。
