On China's Reform and Opening-up and the Evolution of the Views of Human Rights

The dominant human rights views in a country or region is closely related to the economic and social development of that country or region and is closely related to human rights practices. Since the launch of reform and opening-up, the development of China’s conception of human rights has gone through many stages. The changes of contemporary Chinese human rights conceptions have gone through the stages from the views of human rights to the theories of human rights, to the norms and practices of human rights, and human rights conceptions developed from avoidance to controversy, from passiveness to initiative, and from learning to construction, which reflects the continuous development of China’s human rights cause. By analyzing the journal records through a search of the human rights and its related keywords, it is possible to chart the evolution and historical context of contemporary Chinese human rights theory.

The New View of Makeup and the Consumption of Cosmetics among the Women of Shanghai in the Modern Age

Under the pressure of the national crisis in modem China,millennia-old traditional concepts have been broken and adjusted,and new trends and ideas have emerged in large numbers.In order to defeat local cosmetics,from the moment they entered China foreign cosmetics companies attacked the traditional Chinese cosmetics of eyebrow pigment(dai),lip pigment(gong),rouge(zhi),and face powder(fen).Corresponding to the enlightenment ideas of the early twentieth century,women could no longer pursue beauty in a way that harmed their bodies.In the movement to liberate women's bodies in the 1920s,radical intellectuals developed a severe criticism of the bad habits of using corsets and applying powder,and the concept of"healthy beauty"came into being.However,in the context of the development of the women's liberation movement and the respect for women's consumer rights,the healthy beauty theory failed to suppress women's consumption of beauty products,and"natural beauty"and"artificial beauty"ultimately coexisted in lifestyles of women in the modem era of Shanghai.

Compared with the analytical method of Western economics, the economic analytical method of historical materialism is markedly more scientific and advantageous. It is innovative in theoretical terms due to the scientific nature of historical materialism.
