As the degreeof cleaning of the wellbore plays a key role in these processes, in this study, this problem is investigated experimentallyby focusing on the dimensionless cuttings bed height. A method is proposed to calculate the horizontalwellhydraulic extension taking into account the influence of the wellbore cleaning degree on the wellborepressure distribution and assess the effect of a variety of factors such as the bottom hole pressure, the circulatingpressure drop, the drilling pump performance and the formation properties. The analysis shows that the hydraulicextension of horizontal wells decreases with an increase in the cuttings bed height, and the higher the displacementof drilling fluid, the faster the hydraulic extension declines. The annular pressure drop of the horizontalsection increases with the increase of the cuttings bed height, resulting in a higher bottom-hole pressure. Severalarguments are provided to guide the safe drilling of shale oil horizontal wells and overcome the limits of currenttechnological approaches.展开更多

Analyzing various treatment stages, the system showed only a slight temperature variation, from an influent average of 26.3°C to an effluent of 24.7°C. Electrical conductivity decreased from 1331 mS/cm to 974.5 mS/cm post-primary treatment, with suspended solids (SS) dramatically reduced from 718.9 mg/L to 5.7 mg/L in the final effluent. Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) saw a notable decrease, from initial levels of 655.6 mg/L and 1240 mg/L to 2.3 mg/L and 71.3 mg/L, respectively. Nitrogenous compounds (N-TN) and phosphates () also decreased significantly, indicating the system’s nutrient removal capacity. Microbiological analysis revealed a reduction in fecal coliforms from 7.5 Ulog/100ml to 1.8 Ulog/100ml and a complete elimination of helminth eggs. The presence of Phragmites and Typha was instrumental in enhancing these reductions. The system’s compliance with the Senegalese standards for disposal into natural environments, WHO recommendations for unrestricted water reuse in irrigation, and the European legislation for water reuse was established. The effluent quality met the stringent criteria for various classes of agricultural reuse, illustrating the system’s potential for sustainable water management. This wetland model presents a robust solution for water-stressed regions, ensuring environmental protection while supporting agricultural needs. The study calls for ongoing research to further refine the system for optimal, reliable wastewater treatment and water resource sustainability.展开更多

Considering the existence of impermeable barriers in oil formations, this paper developed a horizontal well flow model and obtained mathematical equations for the critical rate when water cresting forms in bottom-water reservoirs. The result shows that the barrier increases the critical rate and delays water breakthrough. Further study of the barrier size and location shows that increases in the barrier size and the distance between the barrier and oil-water contact lead to higher critical rates. The critical rate gradually approaches a constant as the barrier size increases. The case study shows the method presented here can be used to predict the critical rate in a bottom-water reservoir and applied to investigate the water cresting behavior of horizontal wells.展开更多

The results show that the major factors influencing the hardness of austempered ductile iron(ADI) are austenitizing temperature and austempering temperature. The fraction of retained austenite increases as the austenitizing and austempering temperatures increase. When austenitizing temperature is low, acicular ferrite and retained austenite can be effi ciently obtained by appropriately extending the austenitizing time. The proper austmepering time could ensure enough stability of retained austenite and prevent high carbon austenite decomposition. The optimal mechanical properties of ADI can be achieved with the following process parameters: austenitizing temperature and time are 866 °C and 135 min, and austempering temperature and time are 279 °C and 135 min, respectively. The microstructure of ADI under the optimal austempering process consists of fi ne acicular ferrite and a small amount of retained austenite, and the hardness, tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and impact toughness of the bars are HBW 476, 1670 MPa, 1428 MPa, 2.93% and 25.7 J, respectively.展开更多

The microstructure of the samples cut at three locations with different distances away from the surface(~20 mm from the surface, half of the radius and the center of the HCCDIBs)were investigated. The mechanical properties were measured by tensile and torsion tests. Results show that after the spheroidization of graphite, the iron matrix incorporates the nodules of Format I, Size 8 close to the surface, Format I, Size 7 at the half of the radius from the surface, and Format II, Size 6 in the centre of the bar, according to the ASTM A247 standard. The content of pearlite in the matrix changes from 55%(~20 mm from the surface) to 70%(half of the radius) and 80%(the center of the HCCDIBs). The strengths in tension are 552, 607 and 486 MPa with the elongations of 12.5%, 10.5% and 5.8% in samples cut at these three locations from the surface to the centre, respectively. The strength in torsion is equal to 558, 551 and 471 MPa at corresponding torsion angles of 418°, 384° and 144° respectively to the same distance from the bar surface. Fracture in tension is manifested via crack propagation through the interface between graphite nodules and matrix(Mode I), while in torsion the fracture is caused by the shear of graphite nodules(Mode II). It is shown that the transition between two fracture modes is also dependent on the size of graphite nodule. Typically, fracture Mode I was observed for nodules of smaller diameter(less than 22.7 μm) and fracture Mode II was seen for nodules of greater diameter(more than 24.8 μm).展开更多

The change in in-situ stress induced by hydrocarbon production and localized tectonic movements causes the changes in rock mechanic properties (e.g. wave velocities, density and anisotropy) and further causes the changes in seismic amplitudes, phases and travel times. In this study, the nonlinear elasticity theory that regards the rock skeleton (solid phase) and pore fluid as an effective whole is used to characterize the effect of horizontal principal stress on rock overall elastic properties and the stress-dependent anisotropy parameters are therefore formulated. Then the approximate P-wave, SV-wave and SH-wave angle-dependent reflection coefficient equations for the horizontal-stress-induced anisotropic media are proposed. It is shown that, on the different reflectors, the stress-induced relative changes in reflectivities (i.e., relative difference) of elastic parameters (i.e., P- and S-wave velocities and density) are much less than the changes in contrasts of anisotropy parameters. Therefore, the effects of stress change on the reflectivities of three elastic parameters are reasonably neglected to further propose an AVO inversion approach incorporating P-, SH- and SV-wave information to estimate the change in horizontal principal stress from the corresponding time-lapse seismic data. Compared with the existing methods, our method eliminates the need for man-made rock-physical or fitting parameters, providing more stable predictive power. 1D test illustrates that the estimated result from time-lapse P-wave reflection data shows the most reasonable agreement with the real model, while the estimated result from SH-wave reflection data shows the largest bias. 2D test illustrates the feasibility of the proposed inversion method for estimating the change in horizontal stress from P-wave time-lapse seismic data.展开更多

In this study, a DNN (deep neural network) model was proposed to predict fracture parameters for the evaluation of the fracturing effects. Field experience and the law of fracture volume conservation were incorporated as physical constraints to improve the prediction accuracy due to small amount of data. A combined neural network was adopted to input both static geological and dynamic fracturing data. The structure of the DNN was optimized and the model was validated through k-fold cross-validation. Results indicate that this DNN model is capable of predicting the fracture parameters accurately with a low relative error of under 10% and good generalization ability. The adoptions of the combined neural network, physical constraints, and k-fold cross-validation improve the model performance. Specifically, the root-mean-square error (RMSE) of the model decreases by 71.9% and 56% respectively with the combined neural network as the input model and the consideration of physical constraints. The mean square error (MRE) of fracture parameters reduces by 75% because the k-fold cross-validation improves the rationality of data set dividing. The model based on the DNN with physical constraints proposed in this study provides foundations for the optimization of fracturing design and improves the efficiency of fracture diagnosis in tight oil and gas reservoirs.展开更多

Thus, automatic detection of epilepsy by analyzing the characteristics obtained from EEG signals has important research implications in the field of clinical medicine. In this paper, the horizontal visibility graph(HVG) algorithm is used to map multifractal EEG signals into complex networks. Then, we study the structure of the networks and explore the nonlinear dynamics properties of the EEG signals inherited from these networks. In order to better describe complex brain behaviors, we use the angle between two connected nodes as the edge weight of the network and construct the weighted horizontal visibility graph(WHVG). In our studies, fractality and multifractality of WHVG are innovatively used to analyze the structure of related networks. However, these methods only analyze the reconstructed dynamical system in general characterizations, they are not sufficient to describe the complex behavior and cannot provide a comprehensive picture of the system. To this effect, we propose an improved multiscale multifractal analysis(MMA) for network, which extends the description of the network dynamics features by focusing on the relationship between the multifractality and the measured scale-free intervals.Furthermore, neural networks are applied to train the above-mentioned parameters for the classification and identification of three kinds of EEG signals, i.e., health, interictal phase, and ictal phase. By evaluating our experimental results, the classification accuracy is 99.0%, reflecting the effectiveness of the WHVG algorithm in extracting the potential dynamic characteristics of EEG signals.展开更多

文摘A coupled numerical calculation method combining smooth particle hydrodynamics(SPH)and the finite element method(FEM)was implemented to investigate the seismic response of horizontal storage tanks.Anumericalmodel of a horizontal storage tank featuring a free liquid surface under seismic action was constructed using the SPH–FEM coupling method. The stored liquid was discretized using SPH particles, while the tank and supports were discretized using the FEM.The interaction between the stored liquid and the tank was simulated by using the meshless particle contact method. Then, the numerical simulation results were compared and analyzed against seismic simulation shaking table test data to validate the method.Subsequently,a series of numerical models, considering different liquid storage volumes and seismic effects, were constructed to obtain time history data of base shear and top center displacement, which revealed the seismic performance of horizontal storage tanks.Numerical simulation results and experimental data showed good agreement, with an error rate of less than 18.85%.And this conformity signifies the rationality of the SPH-FEM coupling method. The base shear and top center displacement values obtained by the coupled SPH-FEM method were only 53.3% to 69.1% of those calculated by the equivalent mass method employed in the current code.As the stored liquid volume increased, the seismic response of the horizontal storage tank exhibited a gradual upward trend, with the seismic response increasing from 73% to 388% for every 35% increase in stored liquid volume. The maximum von Mises stress of the tank and the supports remained below the steel yield strength during the earthquake. The coupled SPH-FEM method holds certain advantages in studying the seismic problems of tanks with complex structural forms, particularly due to the representation of the flow field distribution during earthquakes by involving reservoir fluid participation.

文摘The efficient development and exploitation of shale oil depends on long-distance horizontal wells. Severalarguments are provided to guide the safe drilling of shale oil horizontal wells and overcome the limits of currenttechnological approaches.
文摘BACKGROUND Lateral window approach for sinus floor lift is commonly used for vertical bone augmentation in cases when the residual bone height is less than 5 mm.However, managing cases becomes more challenging when a maxillary sinus pseudocyst is present or when there is insufficient bone width. In this case,we utilized the bone window prepared during the lateral window sinus lift as a shell for horizontal bone augmentation. This allowed for simultaneous horizontal and vertical bone augmentation immediately after the removal of the maxillary sinus pseudocyst.CASE SUMMARY A 28-year-old female presented to our clinic with the chief complaint of missing upper left posterior teeth.Intraoral examination showed a horizontal deficiency of the alveolar ridge contour. The height of the alveolar bone was approximately 3.6 mm on cone beam computed tomography(CBCT).And a typical well-defined'dome-shaped'lesion in maxillary sinus was observed on CBCT imaging. The lateral bony window was prepared using a piezo-ultrasonic device, then the bony window was fixed to the buccal side of the 26 alveolar ridge using a titanium screw with a length of 10 mm and a diameter of 1.5 mm.The space between the bony window and the alveolar ridge was filled with Bio-Oss,covered with a Bio-Gide collagen membrane, and subsequently sutured.Nine months later, the patient’s bone width increased from 4.8 to 10.5 mm,and the bone height increased from 3.6 to 15.6 mm.Subsequently,a Straumann^(■)4.1 mm×10 mm implant was placed. The final all-ceramic crown restoration was completed four months later, and both clinical and radiographic examinations showed that the implant was successful, and the patient was satisfied with the results.CONCLUSION The bone block harvested from the lateral window sinus lift can be used for simultaneous horizontal bone augmentation acting as a shell for good two-dimensional bone augmentation.

文摘Horizontal well-stimulation is the key to unconventional resource exploration and development. The development mode of the well plant helps increase the stimulated reservoir volume.Nevertheless, fracture interference between wells reduces the fracturing effect. Here,a 2D hydro-mechanical coupling model describing hydraulic fracture(HF)propagation is established with the extended finite element method, and the effects of several factors on HF propagation during multiple wells fracturing are analyzed. The results show that with an increase in elastic modulus, horizontal principal stress difference and injection fluid displacement, the total fracture area and the reservoir stimulation efficiency are both improved in all three fracturing technologies. After a comparison of the three technologies, the method of improved zipper fracturing is proposed, which avoids mutual interference between HFs,and the reservoir stimulation effect is improved significantly. The study provides guidance for optimizing the fracturing technology of multiple horizontal wells.
文摘To improve the productivity of oil wells, perforation technology is usually used to improve the productivity of horizontal wells in oilfield exploitation. After the perforation operation, the perforation channel around the wellbore will form a near-well high-permeability reservoir area with the penetration depth as the radius, that is,the formation has different permeability characteristics with the perforation depth as the dividing line.Generally, the permeability is measured by the permeability tester, but this approach has a high workload and limited application. In this paper, according to the reservoir characteristics of perforated horizontal wells, the reservoir is divided into two areas:the original reservoir area and the near-well high permeability reservoir area.Based on the theory of seepage mechanics and the formula of open hole productivity, the permeability calculation formula of near-well high permeability reservoir area with perforation parameters is deduced.According to the principle of seepage continuity, the seepage is regarded as the synthesis of two directions:the horizontal plane elliptic seepage field and the vertical plane radial seepage field, and the oil well productivity prediction model of the perforated horizontal well is established by partition. The model comparison demonstrates that the model is reasonable and feasible. To calculate and analyze the effect of oil well production and the law of influencing factors, actual production data of the oilfield are substituted into the oil well productivity formula. It can effectively guide the technical process design and effect prediction of perforated horizontal wells.
文摘In Saint-Louis, Senegal, a constructed wetland with horizontal flow reed beds (FHa and FHb) has demonstrated significant efficacy in treating municipal wastewater. The study calls for ongoing research to further refine the system for optimal, reliable wastewater treatment and water resource sustainability.

文摘Barrier impacts on water cut and critical rate of horizontal wells in bottom water-drive reservoirs have been recognized but not investigated quantitatively. The case study shows the method presented here can be used to predict the critical rate in a bottom-water reservoir and applied to investigate the water cresting behavior of horizontal wells.

文摘In the present research, the orthogonal experiment was carried out to investigate the influence of different austempering process parameters(i.e. austenitizing temperature and time, and austempering temperature and time) on microstructure and mechanical properties of LZQT500-7 ductile iron dense bars with 172 mm in diameter which were produced by horizontal continuous casting(HCC). The microstructure of ADI under the optimal austempering process consists of fi ne acicular ferrite and a small amount of retained austenite, and the hardness, tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and impact toughness of the bars are HBW 476, 1670 MPa, 1428 MPa, 2.93% and 25.7 J, respectively.

文摘Ductile iron bars(DIBs) with a diameter of 145 mm, used for plunger pump production, were made by the horizontal continuous casting(HCC). Typically, fracture Mode I was observed for nodules of smaller diameter(less than 22.7 μm) and fracture Mode II was seen for nodules of greater diameter(more than 24.8 μm).

文摘Monitoring the change in horizontal stress from the geophysical data is a tough challenge, and it has a crucial impact on broad practical scenarios which involve reservoir exploration and development, carbon dioxide (CO_(2)) injection and storage, shallow surface prospecting and deep-earth structure description. 2D test illustrates the feasibility of the proposed inversion method for estimating the change in horizontal stress from P-wave time-lapse seismic data.

文摘Organic rich dark shale of Q Formation can be found in many areas(e.g.,in the North of S Basin). The shale target stratum is easy to hydrate and often undergoes spallation. Therefore, centering the casing in the horizontal section of the irregular borehole is relatively difficult.Similarly, achieving a good cementflushing efficiency under complex borehole conditions is a complex task.Through technologies such as centralizer, efficient preflushing,multi-stageflushing and ductile cement slurry, better performances can be achieved. In this study,it is shown that the cementing rate in the DY2H horizontal section is 97.8%,which is more than 34%higher than that of adjacent wells. This cementing matching technology for sidetracking horizontal wells can be used to improve the cementing quality of continental shale and provides a reference for future applications in thisfield.
文摘The application of fluid diversion during hydraulic fracturing is an evolving technology and has become popular amongst E&P operators over the past few years. The primary objective of the fluid diversion is to improve hydraulic fracturing treatment by increasing stimulated reservoir volume and improving hydrocarbon recovery. This is possible by achieving any of the following objectives:creating uniform distribution of treatment slurry within the target zone;treating unstimulated and under-stimulated zones;or by increasing fracture density by creating a complex fracture network. The fluid diversion application is also helpful in decreasing the number of stages(by increasing stage length)for multi-stage plug-n-perf(PnP)fracturing treatment. It is also applied to prevent fracture-driven interactions between adjacent wells, which is currently a major issue, especially in shale. In addition, for successful refracturing treatment, the diverter application is essential for isolating the existing fractures and redirecting the treatment slurry to the desired unstimulated zones. The diversion methods can be broadly categorized into the mechanical and chemical diversion.Several established mechanical diversion techniques are frac plugs, expandable casing patches, expandable liners, swellable packers, straddle packer assembly, sand plugs, frac sleeves, perforation ball sealers, and limited entry technique. The different chemical diversion techniques are particulates, fibers, gels, surfactants, perforation pods, and composite diverting. This paper describes the current status of established mechanical and chemical diverter technologies and examines their comparative advantages and challenges.Various techniques are suitable for diverter application, but the technique is selected based on the desired objective and conditions of the wellbore and reservoir. The general guidelines for selecting diversion techniques and operational considerations are also provided in the paper. The diagnosis of diversion treatment plays an essential role in diversion technique selection and optimization of selection parameters for the subsequent treatments. Therefore, the application of conventional surface pressure monitoring techniques and advanced diagnostic tools to evaluate diversion effectiveness are briefly described.Presently no standard laboratory testing method is established for the performance evaluation of diverting agents. Therefore, researchers have implemented various laboratory methods, which are briefly summarized in the paper.Significant insight into the diversion technology and guidelines for its selection and successful implementation is provided to help engineers to increase the effectiveness of hydraulic fracturing treatments. The limitations of individual diversion techniques are clarified, which provide the future scope of research for improvement in various diversion technologies.

文摘How can we regulate an invasive alien species of high commercial value?Black locust(Robinia pseudoacacia L.)has a unique capacity for seed dispersal and high germination.Field surveys indicate that black locust increases its growing area with sprouting roots and the elongation of horizontal roots at a soil depth of 10 cm.Therefore,a method to regulate the development of horizontal roots could be eff ective in slowing the invasiveness of black locust. In this study, root barrier panels were tested to inhibit the growth of horizontal roots.Since it is labor intensive to observe the growth of roots in the fi eld,it was investigated in a nursery setting. The decrease in secondary fl ush,an increase in yellowed leafl ets,and the height in the seedlings were measured.Installing root barrier panels to a depth of 30 cm eff ectively inhibit the growth of horizontal roots of young black locust.

文摘Accurate diagnosis of fracture geometry and conductivity is of great challenge due to the complex morphology of volumetric fracture network. The model based on the DNN with physical constraints proposed in this study provides foundations for the optimization of fracturing design and improves the efficiency of fracture diagnosis in tight oil and gas reservoirs.

文摘Backlash nonlinearity inevitably exists in the actuator of tank horizontal stabilizer and has adverse effect on the system control performance, however, how to effectively eliminate its effect remains a pending issue. To solve this problem,a robust adaptive precision motion controller is presented in this paper to address uncertainties and unknown actuator backlash of tank horizontal actuator. The controller handles the modeling uncertainties including parameter uncertainties and unmodeled disturbances by integrating adaptive feedforward compensation and continuous nonlinear robust law.Based on the backstepping method,a smooth backlash inverse model is constructed by combining the adaptive idea.Meanwhile, the unknown backlash parameters of the system can be approximated through the parameter adaptation, and the impact of the actuator backlash nonlinearity is effectively compensated via the inverse operation, which can availably improve the tracking performance. Moreover, the adaptive law can update the disturbance ranges of tank horizontal stabilizer online in real time, which enhances the feasibility in practical engineering applications.Furthermore, the stability analysis based on Lyapunov function shows that with the existence of unmodeled disturbances and unknown actuator backlash, the designed controller guarantees excellent asymptotic output tracking performance.Extensive comparative results verify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.

文摘The horizontal structure of mangrove forests is an important characteristic that reflects a significant signal for coupling between mangroves and external drivers. While the loss and gain of mangroves has received much attention, little information about how the horizontal structure of mangrove forests develops from the seedling stage to maturity has been presented. Here, remote sensing images taken over approximately 15 years,UVA images, nutrient elements, sediments, and Aegiceras corniculatum vegetation parameters of the ecological quadrats along the Nanliu Delta, the largest delta of the northern Beibu Gulf in China, are analyzed to reveal changes in the horizontal structure of mangroves and their associated driving factors. The results show that both discrete structures and agglomerated structures can often be found in A.corniculatum seedlings and saplings. However, the combination of seedlings growing into maturity and new seedlings filling in available gaps causes the discrete structure of A.corniculatum to gradually vanish and the agglomerate structure to become stable. The aggregated structure of seedlings, compared to the discrete structure, can enhance the elevation beneath mangroves by trapping significantly more sediments, providing available spaces and conditions for seedlings to continue growing.Furthermore,by catching fine sediments with enriched nutrients, the survival rate of A.corniculatum seedlings in the agglomerated structure can be much higher than that in the discrete structure. Our results highlight the significance of the agglomeration of A.corniculatum, which can be beneficial to coastal mangrove restoration and management.

文摘Electroencephalogram(EEG) signals contain important information about the regulation of brain system. By evaluating our experimental results, the classification accuracy is 99.0%, reflecting the effectiveness of the WHVG algorithm in extracting the potential dynamic characteristics of EEG signals.
