In order to satisfy a satellite horizontality requirement in an experiment, it is indispensable to monitor and adjust the horizontality of a large platform loading the satellite under the condition of ultra-low temperature with real time. So the control system design and control strategy are described in detail to accomplish the horizontality monitoring and adjusting. The system adopts the industry control computer as the upper computer and the SIEMENS S7-300 PLC as the lower computer. The upper computer that bases on industry configuration software IFIX takes charge of monitoring the platform and puts forward the control strategy. PLC takes charge of receiving the adjusting instructions and controlling the legs moving to accomplish the horizontality adjusting. The horizontality adjusting strategy is emphasized and the concept of grads is introduced to establish a mathematics model of the platform inclined state, so the adjusting method is obtained. Accordingly the key question of the automatic horizontality adjusting is solved in this control system. 展开更多

Due to the high potential risk and many influencing factors of subsea horizontal X-tree installation,to guarantee the successful completion of sea trials of domestic subsea horizontal X-trees,this paper established a modular risk evaluation model based on a fuzzy fault tree.First, through the analysis of the main process oftree down and combining the Offshore&Onshore Reliability Data(OREDA)failure statistics and the operation procedure and the data provided by the job,the fault tree model of risk analysis of the tree down installation was established. Then,by introducing the natural language of expert comprehensive evaluation and combining fuzzy principles, quantitative analysis was carried out,and the fuzzy number was used to calculate the failure probability of a basic event and the occurrence probability of a top event. Finally, through a sensitivity analysis of basic events, the basic events of top events significantly affected were determined, and risk control and prevention measures for the corresponding high-risk factors were proposed for subsea horizontal X-tree down installation. 展开更多

Aiming at the problems of large load of rotation drive system, low efficiency of torque transmission and high cost for operation and maintenance of liner steering drilling system for the horizontal well,a new method of liner differential rotary drilling with double tubular strings in the horizontal well is proposed. The technical principle of this method is revealed, supporting tools such as the differential rotation transducer, composite rotary steering system and the hanger are designed, and technological process is optimized.A tool face control technique of steering drilling assembly is proposed and the calculation model of extension limit of liner differential rotary drilling with double tubular strings in horizontal well is established. These results show that the liner differential rotary drilling with double tubular strings is equipped with measurement while drilling(MWD)and positive displacement motor(PDM),and directional drilling of horizontal well is realized by adjusting rotary speed of drill pipe to control the tool face of PDM.Based on the engineering case of deep coalbed methane horizontal well in the eastern margin of Ordos Basin, the extension limit of horizontal drilling with double tubular strings is calculated.Compared with the conventional liner drilling method, the liner differential rotary drilling with double tubular strings increases the extension limit value of horizontal well significantly. The research findings provide useful reference for the integrated design and control of liner completion and drilling of horizontal wells. 展开更多

The boundary condition is a crucial factor affecting the permeability variation due to suffusion. An experimental investigation on the permeability of gap-graded soil due to horizontal suffusion considering the boundary effect is conducted, where the hydraulic head difference(DH)varies, and the boundary includes non-loss and soil-loss conditions.Soil samples are filled into seven soil storerooms connected in turn. After evaluation, the variation in content of fine sand(ΔR_(f))and the hydraulic conductivity of soils in each storeroom(C_(i))are analyzed. In the non-loss test, the soil sample filling area is divided into runoff, transited, and accumulated areas according to the negative or positive ΔR_(f) values.ΔR_(f) increases from negative to positive along the seepage path, and Ci decreases from runoff area to transited area and then rebounds in accumulated area.In the soil-loss test, all soil sample filling areas belong to the runoff area, where the gentle-loss,strengthened-loss,and alleviated-loss parts are further divided.ΔR_(f) decreases from the gentle-loss part to the strengthened-loss part and then rebounds in the alleviated-loss part, and C_(i) increases and then decreases along the seepage path. The relationship between ΔR_(f) and Ci is different with the boundary condition.Ci exponentially decreases with ΔR_(f) in the non-loss test and increases with ΔR_(f) generally in the soil-loss test. 展开更多

The presence of horizontal layered rocks in tunnel engineering significantly impacts the stability and strength of the surrounding rock mass, leading to floor heave in the tunnel. This study focused on preparing layered specimens of rock-like material with varying thickness to investigate the failure behaviors of tunnel floors. The results indicate that thin-layered rock mass exhibits weak interlayer bonding, causing rock layers near the surface to buckle and break upwards when subjected to horizontal squeezing. With an increase in the layer thickness,a transition in failure mode occurs from upward buckling to shear failure along the plane, leading to a noticeable reduction in floor heave deformation. The primary cause of significant deformation in floor heave is upward buckling failure. To address this issue, the study proposes the installation of a partition wall in the middle of the floor to mitigate heave deformation of the rock layers. The results demonstrate that the partition wall has a considerable stabilizing effect on the floor, reducing the zone of buckling failure and minimizing floor heave deformation. It is crucial for the partition wall to be sufficiently high to prevent buckling failure and ensure stability.Through simulation calculations on an engineering example,it is confirmed that implementing a partition wall can effectively reduce floor heave and enhance the stability of tunnel floor. 展开更多

This study proposes a novel open-type rectangular breakwater combined with horizontal perforated plates on both sides to enhance the sheltering effect of the rectangular box-type breakwaters against longer waves. The hydrodynamic characteristics of this breakwater are analyzed through analytical potential solutions and experimental tests. The quadratic pressure drop conditions are exerted on the horizontal perforated plates to facilitate assessing the effect of wave height on the dissipated wave energy of breakwater through the analytical solution. The hydrodynamic quantities of the breakwater, including the reflection, transmission, and energyloss coefficients, together with vertical and horizontal wave forces, are calculated using the velocity potential decomposition method as well as an iterative algorithm.Furthermore, the reflection and transmission coefficients of the breakwater are measured by conducting experimental tests at various wave periods, wave heights, and both porosities and widths of the horizontal perforated plates. The analytical predicted results demonstrate good agreement with the iterative boundary element method solution and measured data. The influences of variable incident waves and structure parameters on the hydrodynamic characteristics of the breakwater are investigated through further calculations based on analytical solutions. Results indicate that horizontal perforated plates placed on the water surface for both sides of the rectangular breakwater can enhance the wave dissipation ability of the breakwater while effectively decreasing the transmission and reflection coefficients. 展开更多

Field evidence indicates that proppant distribution and threshold pressure gradient have great impacts on well productivity.Aiming at the development of unconventional oil reservoirs in Triassic Chang-7 Unit,Ordos Basin of China,we presented an integrated workflow to investigate how(1)proppant placement in induced fracture and(2)non-linear flow in reservoir matrix would affect well productivity and fluid flow in the reservoir.Compared with our research before(Yue et al.,2020),here we extended this study into the development of multi-stage fractured horizontal wells(MFHWs)with large-scale complicated fracture geometry. The integrated workflow is based on the finite element method and consists of simulation models for proppant-laden fluid flow, fracture flow, and non-linear seepage flow, respectively.Simulation results indicate that the distribution of proppant inside the induced cracks significantly affects the productivity of the MFHW.When we assign an idealized proppant distribution instead of the real distribution, there will be an overestimation of 44.98%in daily oil rate and 30.63%in cumulative oil production after continuous development of 1000 days.Besides, threshold pressure gradient(TPG)also significantly affects the well performance in tight oil reservoirs. If we simply apply linear Darcy’s law to the reservoir matrix, the overall cumulative oil production can be overrated by 77%after 1000 days of development. In general, this research provides new insights into the development of tight oil reservoirs with TPG and meanwhile reveals the significance of proppant distribution and non-linear fluid flow in the production scenario design. 展开更多

Rock slope with horizontal-layered fractured structure(HLFS)has high stability in its natural state. However,a strong earthquake can induce rock fissure expansion, ultimately leading to slope failure. In this study, the dynamic response, failure mode, and spectral characteristics of rock slope with HLFS under strong earthquake conditions were investigated based on the large-scale shaking table model test.On this basis, multiple sets of numerical calculation models were further established by UDEC discrete element program.Five influencing factors were considered in the parametric study of numerical simulations, including slope height, slope angle,bedding-plane spacing and secondary joint spacing as well as bedrock dip angle. The results showed that the failure process of rock slope with HLFS under earthquake action is mainly divided into four phases,i.e.,the tensile crack of the slope shoulder joints and shear dislocation at the top bedding plane, the extension of vertical joint cracks and increase of shear displacement, the formation of step-through sliding surfaces and the instability, and finally collapse of fractured rock mass. The acceleration response of slopes exhibits elevation amplification effect and surface effect.Numerical simulations indicate that the seismic stability of slopes with HLFS exhibits a negative correlation with slope height and angle, but a positive correlation with bedding-plane spacing, joint spacing, and bedrock dip angle. The results of this study can provide a reference for seismic stability evaluation of weathered rock slopes. 展开更多

The viscosity of fracturing fluid and in-situ stress difference are the two important factors that affect the hydraulic fracturing pressure and propagation morphology. In this study, raw coal was used to prepare coal samples for experiments, and clean fracturing fluid samples were prepared using CTAB surfactant. A series of hydraulic fracturing tests were conducted with an in-house developed triaxial hydraulic fracturing simulator and the fracturing process was monitored with an acoustic emission instrument to analyze the influences of fracturing fluid viscosity and horizontal in-situ stress difference on coal fracture propagation. The results show that the number of branched fractures decreased, the fracture pattern became simpler, the fractures width increased obviously, and the distribution of AE event points was concentrated with the increase of the fracturing fluid viscosity or the horizontal in-situ stress difference. The acoustic emission energy decreases with the increase of fracturing fluid viscosity and increases with the increase of horizontal in situ stress difference. The low viscosity clean fracturing fluid has strong elasticity and is easy to be compressed into the tip of fractures, resulting in complex fractures. The high viscosity clean fracturing fluids are the opposite. Our experimental results provide a reference and scientific basis for the design and optimization of field hydraulic fracturing parameters. 展开更多

The Fort d’Issy-Vanves-Clamart(FIVC)braced excavation in France is analyzed to provide insights into the geotechnical serviceability assessment of excavations at great depth within deterministic and probabilistic frameworks. The FIVC excavation is excavated at 32 m below the ground surface in Parisian sedimentary basin and a plane-strain finite element analysis is implemented to examine the wall deflections and ground surface settlements.A stochastic finite element method based on the polynomial chaos Kriging metamodel(MSFEM)is then proposed for the probabilistic analyses.Comparisons with field measurements and former studies are carried out.Several academic cases are then conducted to investigate the great-depth excavation stability regarding the maximum horizontal wall deflection and maximum ground surface settlement. The results indicate that the proposed MSFEM is effective for probabilistic analyses and can provide useful insights for the excavation design and construction.A sensitivity analysis for seven considered random parameters is then implemented. The soil friction angle at the excavation bottom layer is the most significant one for design. The soil-wall interaction effects on the excavation stability are also given. 展开更多

Multistage hydraulic fracturing of horizontal wells(MFHW)is a promising technology for controlling coal burst caused by thick and hard roofs in China. However, challenges remain regarding the MFHW control mechanism of coal burst and assessment of the associated fracturing effects. In this study, these challenges were investigated through numerical modelling and field applications, based on the actual operating parameters of MFHW for hard roofs in a Chinese coal mine.A damage parameter(D)is proposed to assess the degree of hydraulic fracturing in the roof. The mechanisms and effects of MFHW for controlling coal burst are analyzed using microseismic(MS)data and front-abutment stress distribution. Results show that the degree of fracturing can be categorized into lightly-fractured(D≤0.3),moderately fractured(0.3<D≤0.6),well-fractured(0.6<D≤0.9),and over-fractured(0.9<D≤0.95).A response stage in the fracturing process, characterized by a slowdown in crack development, indicates the transition to a wellfractured condition. After MFHW,the zone range and peak value of the front-abutment stress decrease.Additionally,MS events shift from near the coal seam to the fractured roof layers, with the number of MS events increases while the average MS energy decreases. The MFHW control mechanisms of coal bursts involve mitigating mining-induced stress and reducing seismic activity during longwall retreat, ensuring stresses remain below the ultimate stress level. These findings provide a reference for evaluating MFHW fracturing effects and controlling coal burst disasters in engineering. 展开更多

An optimization method of fracturing fluid volume strength was introduced taking well X-1 in Biyang Sag of Nanxiang Basin as an example. The characteristic curves of capillary pressure and relative permeability were obtained from history matching between forced imbibition experimental data and core-scale reservoir simulation results and taken into a large scale reservoir model to mimic the forced imbibition behavior during the well shut-in period after fracturing. The optimization of the stimulated reservoir volume(SRV)fracturing fluid volume strength should meet the requirements of estimated ultimate recovery(EUR),increased oil recovery by forced imbibition and enhancement of formation pressure and the fluid volume strength of fracturing fluid should be controlled around a critical value to avoid either insufficiency of imbibition displacement caused by insufficient fluid amount or increase of costs and potential formation damage caused by excessive fluid amount.Reservoir simulation results showed that SRV fracturing fluid volume strength positively correlated with single-well EUR and an optimal fluid volume strength existed, above which the single-well EUR increase rate kept decreasing. An optimized increase of SRV fracturing fluid volume and shut-in time would effectively increase the formation pressure and enhance well production.Field test results of well X-1 proved the practicality of established optimization method of SRV fracturing fluid volume strength on significant enhancement of shale oil well production. 展开更多

The single-station microtremor method is one of the fastest, most reliable, and cheapest methods used to identify dynamic soil properties. This study utilizes 49 single-station microtremor measurements to identify the dynamic soil properties of the Hilalkent quarter of the Yakutiye district in Erzurum.Soil dominant frequency and the amplification factor were calculated by using the Nakamura horizontal/vertical spectral ratio(H/V)method.While the soil dominant frequency values varied between 0.4 Hz and 10 Hz,the soil amplification factor changed between 1 and 10.Higher H/V values were acquired with lower frequency values. The vulnerability index(K_(g))and shear strain parameters that are utilized to estimate the damage that may be caused by an earthquake were mapped.Especially in the west side of the study area, higher K_(g) values were observed. The shear strain map was created with 0.25 g,0.50 g and 0.75 g bedrock accelerations, and soil types that lost elasticity during an earthquake were identified. The average shear wave velocity for the first 30 m(V_(s30))was calculated. Finally,it was observed that the western part of the study area, which resulted in a higher period and higher H/V,higher K_(g) and lower V_(s30) values, presents a higher risk of damage during an earthquake. 展开更多

The mechanical horizontal platform(MHP)system exhibits a rich chaotic behavior. The chaotic MHP system has applications in the earthquake and offshore industries. This article proposes a robust adaptive continuous control(RACC)algorithm. It investigates the control and synchronization of chaos in the uncertain MHP system with time-delay in the presence of unknown state-dependent and time-dependent disturbances. The closed-loop system contains most of the nonlinear terms that enhance the complexity of the dynamical system;it improves the efficiency of the closed-loop.The proposed RACC approach(a)accomplishes faster convergence of the perturbed state variables(synchronization errors)to the desired steady-state,(b)eradicates the effect of unknown state-dependent and time-dependent disturbances, and(c)suppresses undesirable chattering in the feedback control inputs. This paper describes a detailed closed-loop stability analysis based on the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional theory and Lyapunov stability technique. It provides parameter adaptation laws that confirm the convergence of the uncertain parameters to some constant values. The computer simulation results endorse the theoretical findings and provide a comparative performance. 展开更多

A coupled numerical calculation method combining smooth particle hydrodynamics(SPH)and the finite element method(FEM)was implemented to investigate the seismic response of horizontal storage tanks.Anumericalmodel of a horizontal storage tank featuring a free liquid surface under seismic action was constructed using the SPH–FEM coupling method. The stored liquid was discretized using SPH particles, while the tank and supports were discretized using the FEM.The interaction between the stored liquid and the tank was simulated by using the meshless particle contact method. Then, the numerical simulation results were compared and analyzed against seismic simulation shaking table test data to validate the method.Subsequently,a series of numerical models, considering different liquid storage volumes and seismic effects, were constructed to obtain time history data of base shear and top center displacement, which revealed the seismic performance of horizontal storage tanks.Numerical simulation results and experimental data showed good agreement, with an error rate of less than 18.85%.And this conformity signifies the rationality of the SPH-FEM coupling method. The base shear and top center displacement values obtained by the coupled SPH-FEM method were only 53.3% to 69.1% of those calculated by the equivalent mass method employed in the current code.As the stored liquid volume increased, the seismic response of the horizontal storage tank exhibited a gradual upward trend, with the seismic response increasing from 73% to 388% for every 35% increase in stored liquid volume. The maximum von Mises stress of the tank and the supports remained below the steel yield strength during the earthquake. The coupled SPH-FEM method holds certain advantages in studying the seismic problems of tanks with complex structural forms, particularly due to the representation of the flow field distribution during earthquakes by involving reservoir fluid participation. 展开更多

A validated numerical model was established to simulate gas−liquid flow behaviors in the oxygen-enriched side-blown bath furnace. This model included the slip velocity between phases and the gas thermal expansion effect. Its modeling results were verified with theoretical correlations and experiments, and the nozzle-eroded states in practice were also involved in the analysis.Through comparison,it is confirmed that the thermal expansion effect influences the flow pattern significantly, which may lead to the backward motion of airflow and create a potential risk to production safety.Consequently, the influences of air injection velocity and furnace width on airflow behavior were investigated to provide operating and design guidance. It is found that the thin layer melt, which avoids high-rate oxygen airflow eroding nozzles, shrinks as the injection velocity increases, but safety can be guaranteed when the velocity ranges from 175 to 275 m/s.Moreover,the isoline patterns and heights of thin layers change slightly when the furnace width increases from 2.2 to 2.8 m,indicating that the furnace width shows a limited influence on production safety. 展开更多

To address the issue of horizontal well production affected by the distribution of perforation density in the wellbore,a numerical model for simulating two-phase flow in a horizontal well is established under two perforation density distribution conditions(i.e.increasing the perforation density at inlet and outlet sections respectively). The simulation results are compared with experimental results to verify the reliability of the numerical simulation method. The behaviors of the total pressure drop, superficial velocity of air-water two-phase flow, void fraction, liquid film thickness, air production and liquid production that occur with various flow patterns are investigated under two perforation density distribution conditions based on the numerical model. The total pressure drop, superficial velocity of the mixture and void fraction increase with the air flow rate when the water flow rate is constant. The liquid film thickness decreases when the air flow rate increases. The liquid and air productions increase when the perforation density increases at the inlet section compared with increasing the perforation density at the outlet section of the perforated horizontal wellbore. It is noted that the air production increases with the air flow rate.Liquid production increases with the bubble flow and begins to decrease at the transition point of the slug-stratified flow, then increases through the stratified wave flow. The normalized liquid flux is higher when the perforation density increases at the inlet section, and increases with the radial air flow rate. 展开更多

Using the typical characteristics of multi-layered marine and continental transitional gas reservoirs as a basis,a model is developed to predict the related well production rate. This model relies on the fractal theory of tortuous capillary bundles and can take into account multiple gas flow mechanisms at the micrometer and nanometer scales,as well as the flow characteristics in different types of thin layers(tight sandstone gas, shale gas,and coalbed gas). Moreover,a source-sink function concept and a pressure drop superposition principle are utilized to introduce a coupled flow model in the reservoir.A semi-analytical solution for the production rate is obtained using a matrix iteration method.A specific well is selected for fitting dynamic production data, and the calculation results show that the tight sandstone has the highest gas production per unit thickness compared with the other types of reservoirs. Moreover, desorption and diffusion of coalbed gas and shale gas can significantly contribute to gas production, and the daily production of these two gases decreases rapidly with decreasing reservoir pressure.Interestingly, the gas production from fractures exhibits an approximately U-shaped distribution, indicating the need to optimize the spacing between clusters during hydraulic fracturing to reduce the area of overlapping fracture control. The coal matrix water saturation significantly affects the coalbed gas production, with higher water saturation leading to lower production. 展开更多
