Thermomechanical control processing (TMCP) was conducted by using a laboratory hot rolling mill, in which three different kinds of finish rolling temperatures were applied. The results show that polygonal ferrite, granular bainite and larger amount of stabilized retained austenite can be obtained by controlled rolling processes. The finer ferrite grain size is produced through the deformation induced transformation during deformation rather than after deformation, which affects the mechanical properties of hot rolled TRIP steel. Mechanical properties increase with decreasing finish rolling temperature due to the stabilization of retained austenite. Ultimate tensile strength (UTS), total elongation (TEL) and the product of ultimate tensile strength and total elongation (UTS×TEL) reaches optimal values (791 MPa, 36% and 28 476 MPa%, respectively) when the specimen was hot rolled for 50% reduction at finish rolling temperature of 700 ℃.展开更多

The calculation of the drop in strip temperature by both water cooling and air cooling is summed up to obtain the change of heat transfer coefficient. It is found that the learning coefficient of heat transfer coefficient is the kernel coefficient of coiler temperature control (CTC) model tuning. The mechanism of TRIP was discussed through examination of the microstructure and the mechanical properties of this kind of steel. The results showed that the strain induced transformation to martensite of retained austenite occurs in hot rolled Si-Mn TRIP steels. The sample exhibited a good combination of ultimate tensile strength and total elongation when it was held at the bainite transformation temperature after hot deformation. The stability of retained austenite increases with an increase in isothermal holding time, and a further increase in the hold- ing duration resulted in the decrease of stability. The mechanical properties were optimal when holding for 25 min, and tensile strength and total elongation reached the maximum values (774 MPa and 33 ;, respectively).展开更多

Much work has been done to investigate how the microstructural banding is formed during hot rolling. In the present study, the microstructure of hot rolling strips was examined in term of optical microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Electron probe microanalysis was also used to decide the distribution of microchemical bands, by this means, the phases in these strips were found to be ferrite and pearlite. The average distance between the carbon lamellas in pearlite is about 0.06-0.1μm. It is also shown that microstructural banding in hot rolled carbon steel was closely related to the segregation of manganese and silicon into those bands. Based on the transformation kinetic, the simulated results pointed out that the thermodynamic stability of austenite would increase with the increasing of Mn, which led to a decrease of ferrite growth rate. The effect of Mn on the decomposition of austenite is attributed to segregation of Mn atoms along the ferrite/austenite phase boundary which causes a strong solute drag effect. The addition of Mn to steel decreases the activity of austenite, thereby it is beneficial to the formation of non-equilibrium phase, such as degenerate pearlite. The formation of banded structure on the hot rolled process was discussed.展开更多

Polygonal ferrite, granular bainite, and a large amount of stabilized retained austenite could be obtained in the hot rolled multiphase steel. The results show that these solutions of thermal behaviors of work roll are very much efficient and the model can be used as an on-line profile and fatness control model of large industrial mills.
文摘A 20 vol. percent SiC_p/Al composite was fabricated by squeeze casting, ofwhich a new process for fabricating the preform was used by blending Al powder and SiC particulateswith average diameters of 10 and 3.5 mu m, respectively. The microstructure of the as-cast and thehot-rolled composite was investigated by using TEM, EDS, and SEM, and their tensile properties weremeasured at room temperature. The results show that the ultimate tensile strength and ultimateelongation of the hot-rolled composite are 80 percent and 140 percent higher than those of theas-cast one. The TEM observation result indicates that there are high density of dislocations anddislocation tangles in the hot-rolled composite. Al_2O_3 layers in the composite resulting from thesurface oxidation of the aluminum powders were damaged to spherical particles during hot rolling. All the results indicate that hot-rolling can improve the mechanical properties of the compositeand, therefore, engineering components of the 20 vol. percent SiC_p/Al composite can be produced bysqueeze casting followed by hot-rolling.
